The Street of the City
This book gives the reader a wonderful sense of how America appeared during World War II. Everything is good and wholesome in the world of the characters and by this, the reader is taken far from the society of today. This book is for you if you are facinated with the 1930's and 1940's, love a good romance without all the sex, and have a deep belief in God. It is, without a doubt, my favorite book.

A wonderful book!
I would highly recommend this book to anyone. It's a great and decent love story. I'd give it more stars if I could!

Wonderful first novel
This is one of the best first novels I have come across.

In terse, unsentimental language that is, at the same time, sensitive and poignant, Gabriella West takes us back to Ireland just before the Easter uprising of 1916. Within this turbulent setting we find Caroline, a young English woman with a sad past, sailing to Ireland to work as a governess in a large country estate. To her immense surprise, she finds herself falling in love for the first time. Equally surprising to her is that she is falling in love with a young woman instead of a young man.
To make matters even more challenging, the young woman is from a lower social class, and is an Irish Catholic Nationalist who wants the 'Brits out'.

The tale is told from the thoughtful, empathic viewpoint of Caroline, who reminds me quite a bit of Jane Eyre. That is, she is a thinker, with a strong independent streak behind her conventional exterior. ...Ms.West weaves a very believable story that brilliantly captures the essence of that time in Irish history, as well as addressing the very real difficulties...and indeed, very real dangers...of being gay in a judgmental world.

Thought provoking, with excellent character development and insight into what an actual lesbian relationship can be like.
Plus...you are kept guessing to the very end about their fate...

A great first novel!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading "Time of Grace". Ms. Wests' characterizations are marvelous and the action is lively. A splendid mix of historical facts and personal adventure, with an excellent account of the Irish uprising of 1916. It is also a story of alienation and of developing meaningful relationships. I highly recommend it to all readers no matter of gender preference. I was immediately absorbed with the story and the characters. It reads quickly and I was sorry to see it end. Hope we see lots more from Ms. West!

Touching account of a family's love for their unborn child
I came to read this book while searching for a friend on methods to repair the delicate membranes. I found this book to be incredibly uplifting. It's an example of how hope, love and faith when working together can turn the impossible into a miracle.

Great Book!
I read this book a few years ago. It was a great story of medicine, family, and faith, and it was very inspiring. This true story shows what we can do to save the lives of babies in the womb. I recommend it to anyone.

Inspiration for Excellence
Dr. Rudolph Willis, in this honest, personal account of achievement despite the odds, reflects on where he has been and how that has led him to be the man he has become today. He thoughtfully considers how race, socioeconomic status, and environment impact who you become, yet inspires us by demonstrating that despite these factors, our goals can be reached with the right combination of intelligence, passion, and drive to overcome our station in life. He does not wallow in the injustices of his upbringing or of the system; rather, he finds strength in the lessons he has learned. A gifted and loved physician, he speaks also on the state of medical care and the goal of a good death when the goal of a cure is gone. If you cannot know Dr. Willis, you can still come to learn from him through this exceptional book that will inspire, energize, and educate you.

An Inspiring Read from which all can learn
I found this book to be very elegantly written, never once hesistating to paint the harsh reality of the author's world. This book is startling, poignant, bleak, and somehow surreal for it is a journey, a numbing journey that does end in triumph. In a day and age where hip hop seems the dominant voice for urban Black America long gone are the eloquent yet forward and rebellious books of the harlem renaissance. This book stands out in the writings of today on Black America and gives diginity to the struggle that goes on every day in this country. All may benefit from reading To Walk In My Shoes as it leads to much needed awareness and adds another pin prick to our social consciousness.

Gloriously beautiful photographs long overdue.
I came across this book strictly by accident while visiting one of my favorite bookstores. I was amazed at its almost hauntingly dignified beauty, not only in capturing the intensity of dance, but also conveying a remarkable grace to the dancers and choreographers it presents. This book affirms the importance and contributions of African-American men in the world of dance. I fear that sometimes we forget and/or minimize those contributions. "Vital Grace" is a long overdue celebration of magnificent artists. Strongly recommended.

Excellant photography -gorgeous subjects
This book is beautiful--The grace and movement of the dance is captured in a fluid and electric manor. I highly recomend this book

The first "Alexander" book, but not the best.
I have mixed feelings about this book. It certainly contains timeless truths and information that one can receive nowhere else. Yet at times there is an offensive condescending tone and an "attitude" that is quite judgmental while repeatedly claiming to be no such thing. Portions of this book were inspiring and portions really angered me -- I found myself arguing hotly over certain elements (to no one in particular). For example, liberalism is condemned more severely than conservatism -- as I read it, at least. One semi-serious flaw (creating dependency) is magnified beyond endurance, while the multitude of beneficent effects on the human condition are brushed aside. Parts of the book are dated now, as well. Still, for serious Alexander readers, the book is worth the effort, but I would begin with "Earthly Cycles."

One of the best channeled books.
Whatever happened to Divine Grace is behind Ramon Stevens other book Conscious Life one of the best channeled books I have ever read. The book gives support, faith and clearance. Things needed sometimes in these days.

The White Flower
This book is about Rachel Rainsford, a young woman whose father has recently died, who is on her way to take a job in California. She is naive and innocent and soon discovers that the man who hires her and is escorting her to her new job on the train has sold her to a wealthy businessman. With the aid of one of her father's former students, Chan Prescott, Rachel escapes. It is only the beginning of their flight.

I loved this book and enjoyed how I was lulled into peacefulness and then set racing away from danger. Through it all, God is present.

Captivating and tender romance
Thrilling to the last minute with realisic and cultured dialogue, this is an excellent novel of sincere devotion.

A delightful autobiography About an American Diva
Grace Moore led an exciting life and tells it well. A life in the '20's "jet" set among the luminaries of the time. Humor, some sorrow and delightful history of opera as well as early movie musicals. Exceptionally well witten and fast moving.
I read this when I was in High School and have bought and given/loaned it many times since

Leaves you wanting MORE GRACE
This is a very well written book and even if you were not a fan of Grace Moore, the opera singer, you will be a fan of Grace Moore the person after reading this candid, yet refreshing book. Also visit [website] for more info about this wonderful American icon.
