A real page-turner
In this techno-thriller a group of Latin American radicals, led by a defrocked priest and financed by Iran, attempt to take over the Dominican Republic. They initiate a violent urban guerrilla war then kidnap the American Ambassador to undermine U.S. support for the local government. The American military response is immediate, heavy-handed, and totally unsuccessful. It remains to an African-American CIA officer, overweight, unmpromotable, and ignored by the authorities, to unravel the plot and pull together a scratch force to save the Ambassador and thwart the terrorists. You can tell that the author has lived and worked on the island (he's a Foreign Service Officer), and his understanding of the local culture, government bureaucracy, and military operations is flawless. The plot is incredibly complex, yet easy to follow, without some of the usual holes or miraculous events so common in this genre. It is equal to Clancy at his best. I dare you to put it down.

Inspiring, encouraging, healing and transforming
Licensed mental health counselor Deborah Kalinyak reveals a path to emotional healing, mental wellness, and spiritual grace in the pages of Hope For A Wounded Heart: Healing Your Emotional Wounds Through Peaceful Living And Spiritual Grace. This is primarily Kalinyak's personal story of how she grew from grief to peace when experiencing an untimely death, saturated with grief and suffering, and dropping her into a depression that only God could lift her from. Hope For A Wounded Heart is enhanced for the reader with "Mental Health and Spiritual Thoughts" sections in each chapter, along with easy exercises which will enable readers to overcome the obstacles within their own lives. Offers tools of hope for those counseling the hopeless.
Working with victims of sexual abuse, pregnant teenagers and all types of women whose dreams lie in ashes at their feet (which I do) can leave a counselor wondering where they can guide their clients to give them the courage just to hang on while the healing is happening. "Hope Springs From Mended Places" gives a counselor a unique tool to offer clients who want to see that they are not alone, and that hope can come to live again in their heart and in their mind and in their spirit. Sometimes hope an

Learned everything about Grace from this book!
I have been a Christian my whole life but still failed to grasp the concept of God's Grace. This book helps people realize how much God loves them and is cheering for them and only wants them to succeed. Not only that but He'll forgive us in a second. This book illustrates it's points by using stories of people's lives. I could identify with everyone in the book. Lorraine Peterson's book leaves you with a whole new realization of what the word Grace really means and you no longer look at God as the big judge in the sky! You learn how He'll give you everything you need to do anything, and that we never can do anything on our own strength, so there's no need to try! He'll help us. The best inspirational book I've ever read!

Smart money-saving ideas here!
Finally, a book on getting more out of your wedding budget without resorting to obviously cheesy things that show you cut corners. Our copy has more pages dog-eared and highlighted than not, and we're even passing ideas along to our friends. The reception section on what to order for food choices was terrific, and I especially loved the part about where to look for a wedding gown that's not one of those cut-rate wedding factories and still find a big bargain on a designer dress. If you want to get twice or three times the wedding for what you have to spend, get this book and get ready to highlight all the great ideas. We're going to have a much better wedding now since we read this.

Both Kids Love This Book!
My four year old and two year old both love this book. The text is simple and rhyming, allowing both of them to "read" it as well. The story follows a girl shopping with her father, occasionally picking up a treat. Her father says "Not Today" and she "puts it away". Imagine my delight at the toy store when my son threw a package on the counter. "Not today," I told him. "So I put it away," he responded and put it on the shelf! My kind of literature that influences life!

Excellent!!! Thoughtful written, and spritually uplifting!!!
As a parent of a daughter with brain cancer, I have read every book I can get my hands on about cancer, doctors, etc.
This book is beautifully written, by a doctor
who has such an insight into children with cancer and their families.
The book is warm and witty and at times sad and heartbreaking. But through out, it is an awesome collections of stories from a doctor
with unlimited compassion for life

Inspiring!
The story of Christo Kulichev is inspiring for people of any faith who have undergone persecution for their faith. It is particularly inspiring for those of the Christian faith, challenging every believer to consider the role of suffering in the life of faith. In the end, it left me asking the question "Will those who come behind me find me faithful?" Kulichev can answer that question in the affirmative. By God's grace, may more of us be able to do so also.
