Perfect prayer for a toddler
So many prayer or Bible story books are either too complex for a toddler or watered down so much that they are almost meaningless. This is a perfect book for a toddler. The view of the world through a toddler's eyes is consistent and delightful: "Bless the moon, Bless the stars, Bless my night-light, Bless my cars...Bless my pillow, Bless my bed, Bless me, too, from toes to head..." The illustrations are simple, warm and in keeping with the viewpoint. Highly recommended! Perfect for a Christian baptism gift, but I think it is probably appropriate for other faiths, too.

"Circle of Grace" - a gift for families
The Wolfe's have produced a book that is truly a gift for families interested in the spiritual well-being of who they are. Whether families are just beginning to explore the spiritual dimension of their lives connected together or have already begun to journey that path, they will find in "Circle of Grace" a wealth of practical insight and wisdom rooted in faith. The insights offered in part one of the book speak well to the families of our time and the prayer collection found in the second part of the book expresses well the wisdom of faith that knows that prayer is not learned and mastered by reading about it but by doing it....I plan to recommend this book to parents as "homework", in the best sense of the term, for their families. My prayer is that families will learn the lessons found in these pages.

Lesson learnt in a nice way
I like this story for many reasons, including the rhyming sentences, the straightforward illustrations, the simple and gentle reminders from the teacher and the happy ending. I think my son likes it because zoo is one of his favourite place.

Cloudy Jewel
Having read most of Grace Livingston Hill's books, I know that they are not all gems. This book, however, truly is one. The story is largely about the re-established relationship between the aunt and her college-aged niece and nephew, and how, through the loveliness of the aunt's character, her example and guidance, they come to know God. All the usual storyline elements are included. The aunt, who has been the silent suffering servant for most of her life, is rewarded with the love of the two (wealthy) children of her dead brother, to fill the place of the children she never had. Unkind relatives try unsuccessfully to thwart their plans. She and the niece and nephew find a house and make it into a beautiful home, in which many of their college friends enjoy spending time. Also, romance enters the picture for each of the main characters. A lovely, truly spiritual book that examines various Biblical issues.

It sticks in your mind
I read this books years ago and I still remember it. If that's not the mark of a really good book, I don't know what is.

The story is easy to follow. An alien android trying to preserve ecosystems is attacked by a reprogrammed duplicate android and has to land on Earth. To prevent crashing into modern-day New York, he travels back in time to the time where only native americans inhabited the area - coinciding with the birth of a young brave of whom the shamen said is going to avert a forthcoming calamity.

Add a young girl from the 20th century who knows martial arts and much time traveling, and you get a really memorable story.

I'd recommend it.

The Color of Grace: Thoughts from a Garden in a Dry Land

Amazingly Graceful
This book is such a delightful read, taking you into Triebwasser's garden in all sorts of seasons and moods. Although in reality her actual garden is not large, it becomes a winding, empathetic display of spiritual thoughts and emotions. The flowers and plants themselves seem to come alive with personalities as Triebwasser meets and greets them as individuals, and reflects on the lessons she sees gracefully presented in God's flora. Triebwasser's writing style is amazingly graceful and gentle, treating the reader with open respect and love. This would be a wonderful gift for someone searching for peace and purpose in their life as it opens and encourages the reader to think on these things.

Commitment, the Reality of Adoption

Real stories about real people
Grace Sandness has done a remarkable job of showing the real heart of real adoptions in her work. This is a must-read for anyone considering adoption, especially if they are considering adopting a child that doesn't "match" their family, isn't the perfect child, or is no longer an infant. Adoptions are a work of heart, and the information families need involves emotions, not just statistics. Grace has the ability to get straight to the heart and soul of adoption with true stories and great insight.

We Found This Book Helpful Nearly 20 Years Ago
My wife and I appreciated this volume just a few years after it was originally released (our first child was born in 1985). It offers sound medical and relational advice from a Christian perspective and answered many of our questions.

We especially appreciated the early sections, including "nurturing a newborn child" and "treating a sick child" (with about 120 page "problem solver"). This book is helpful for the first time parent.

Although we had no problem with the latter part of the book on child-rearing, the truly unique sections are the ones mentioned.

This would make a great gift for an expecting mother!
