Develop & Mature as a Christian
from the back cover:

Becoming a Christian is only the beginning of a process of spiritual growth that involves increasing in knowledge of God, obedience to his word and understanding of his will.

Yet, some Christians' lives seem to grind slowly to a halt while others are disappointed because of their spiritual progress has not been as straightforward or as rapid as they had hoped. The growth of others is stunted by a lack of proper spiritual nourishment. Yet others feel they do not understand how to become mature Christians.

Grow in Grace explains how God helps us to develop as members of his family. Taking Jesus himself as the model for our growth, it explains some of the biblical principles of spiritual development, and gives a number of 'case histories' to illustrate how God works in our lives to mature us as Christians.

The biblical teachng in Grow in Grace will appeal to Christians at all stages, while its straightforward explanation of the patterns of God's work in his people makes it ideal for those who are just beginning.

Sinclair B. Ferguson is minister of St. George's-Tron Church, Glasgow, Scotland. He is the author of Discovering God's Will, The Christian Life, A Heart for God, The Sermon on the Mount, Deserted by God? and other books published by Banner of Truth Trust.

A great book for any believer to learn about living in grace
An excellent book in that it combines Biblical truth and practical living. An great tool for anyone coming from a legalistic background or new believers that are learning about the new life that they have in Christ. The study guide makes this book an excellent choice for Bible studies or Sunday school classes. One of the best books I have ever read on the subject of grace. I would recommend to it anyone.

True and False Guilty
This book is a great source of comfort to those who struggle with sins that are created by men. It help all sincere Christians to find out if they are guilty of sinning (which is a conviction given by the Holy Spirit) or if their guilty is psychological.

An excellent source for East African recipes.
Most African cook books in America say little about East African cooking. They tend to emphasize West African cuisine, since most African-Americans were brought from that region. Ms. Kuto's cook gives the basic recipes that would be found in any Kenyan or Tanzanian home - simple, easy to prepare, and authentic. The best around for this cuisine.

A Seminal Work in Child & Adolescent Bereavement
Dr. Christ's new book is an invaluable resource for mental health professionals working with bereaved children and adolescents. I am developing a program of bereavement support groups for school-age children at a large urban mental health clinic. There is no book in my personal library that I have turned to more than Dr. Christ's HEALING CHILDREN'S GRIEF. It offers a rare and insightful window into the minds of bereaved children from age 3 to 17. This broad age range is divided into three-year age clusters (e.g. 3 to 5, 6 to 8, 9 to 11, etc.), and the subtle yet clinically critical differences in each age group's grief experience and symtoms are clearly described. The narratives that Dr. Christ shares from her work with these children are at once touching, compelling, and profoundly informative. Simply put, this book will equip you with age-specific interventions for bereaved children and adolescents, and is a must-read for professionals preparing to undertake this important work.

Participated in her Lecture - Can't wait to read her book !
Although a 'review' might not be the proper description, I felt it was important to recommend the book having listened to her presentation on this subject. If the book can make the connection with the reader like the author connects to her live audience, there is a message that shouldn't be missed.

Sophisticated thriller.
It's refreshing to read a thriller that doesn't star a hero who is a martial arts expert, fluent in eight languages, an experienced jet fighter pilot, and conversant in nuclear physics. Here we have a Belgian policeman in the style of Poirot who is just more clever than anyone around. He outwits an apathetic and/or corrupt bureaucracy to defeat an unscrupulous German industrialist who is trying to foment war and disaster on the Continent to win for Germany the "hegemony" that she failed to win in two wars. There's plenty of Clancy-style military and paramilitary action in a very plausible political scenario. Frighteningly realistic.
