Wonderful West Indian (Caribbean) tale of friendship
I came across this book by chance when I was looking for books to share with my students (I teach Grade 2) about the West Indies where I was born and raised. It is a lovely story of friendship and community.

Light Shed on an Underappreciated Artist
Consuelo Kanaga had a warm human touch and sharp journalist's eye. This book of her life as a photographer is a gem for those interested in photography as art and expression. It could also serve as a good source of material for art or women's studies researchers, and even photographers who are looking to their predecessors to improve and expand their own work. Her images reflect a humane view of and connection with her subjects: the exquisite quality of light and composition, and deft, almost brutal editing betray her great technical skill. The very readable and informative text is peppered with small photos, while the remainder of the book is filled with beautifully reproduced full-page plates. Just as Consuelo Kanaga is a photographer as worthy of recognition as her more famous colleagues, this volume of her work is worthy of a place on the shelf of any aficionado or enthusiast of photography.

Brief Intro to Covenant Theology
John Murray gives a brief, but excellent summation of Covenant Theology. This booklet helps answer the question as to whether their is primarily continuity or discontinuity between the Old & New Testaments.

Murray begins by defining covenant and gives a brief historical overview of the rise of covenant theology. Then he delves in to the biblical and theological realm of the covenant. He surveys the Noahic, Abrahamic, Mosaic, Davidic, and New Covenant as found in Scripture.

He concludes that the covenant is a unified theme throughout Scripture which speeks of God's relation of grace between His creation.

Also recommended for a more in-depth study: O. Palmer Robertson's "The Christ of the Covenants."

These Stories Will Make You Laugh, and Make You Cry
This was my first CUP OF COMFORT experience. I bought it because my friend Dera Williams has a story in it, and I wanted to read her story about quilting as a legacy. Well, I thoroughly enjoyed Dera's story, and then I started reading the book from the beginning and was quickly pulled in by the beautifully told stories by women who, although just like me, each had her own story to tell. Stories that uplifted me, and made me think of life's possibilities. I highly recommend this book to any woman who needs a little inspiration to kick-start her day, or week, or year!

Deserves at least ten stars...OR MORE!
Once again, Al Truesdale (and Bonnie Perry) have brought the unchanging truth of God's Word to the reading public, and we are the better for it. This "dangerous hope" is only dangerous if you don't possess it: The confident assurance that God through His eternal Son, and in the power of the Holy Spirit has redeemed mankind (who calls on Him)and places that man, woman, boy, or girl in the Spirit-created community called the church. Chapter Eight, "More than members" is the clearest explanation of the New Testament plan for the Body of Christ that has come out in many years. Truesdale and Perry engage the "modern" thinkers, with Pauline spirituality (as read in the Apostles letters in the New Testament) and shows us where we need to really become the "community of faith" and not just a "collection of individuals." The concluding stories at the end of each chapter hit home, in a large way! From the author's pen of "If God is God, then Why? Letters from Oklahoma City", we have another volume, which is destined to become a classic on the subject of God's grace. "A Dangerous Hope: Encountering the God of grace" should be required reading in every church...starting with the pastor! His/her job of "shepherding the sheep" would be much more enjoyable/rewarding afterwards.

The Enchanted Barn
This book is a romanic novel about love and hardship and faith in God. This is a large family in the depression. The mother is ill and the older children have to take care of the family. There is only one girl old enough to work full time as she has finished school. They have to move but she does not make enough money to rent a place in town so she finds and old barn that has been abandoned and they(the childred) decide they can live there in the summer months anyway. They did not know what they would do in the winter when it was cold but they believed God had let them find the barn and he would help them through the winter.

Powerful, Realistic, Needed in Inspritaional Fiction
I haven't read any of Kathleen Morgan's previous books, but she has brought inspirational fiction a gift. The reference to intimacy as santified in marriage (physical, emotional and spiritual) is acurate and powerful. It's wonderful to read about this in realistic terms although not graphic. Imagination has it's own rewards. The story line is great! The characters seem alive! Keep writing inspirational fiction, Kathleen!
