Mother Seton, Her Daughter, and Friendship
My mom baught me this book because I go to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School. I love to read about St. Elizabeth and her children. When I started to read this book, I didn't want to stop reading the book. My favorite part was when Mother Seton's daughter made a new friend. I really liked the book because it was about the two girls' friendships and the times they had together. I learned more about St. Elizabeth and her children.

An Excellent Literary Biography
When reading Porter's fiction, we cannot help but acknowledge that she was a consummate stylist. We marvel at her narrative voice as she fleshes out characters such as Miranda Gay, Maria Concepcion, or Granny Weatherall, and in recognizing this, one must congratulate Joan Givner for realizing that Porter, when it came to her own life, was also a stylist in her creation of a feminine literary persona, a persona so potent that only the most perservering of biographers can penetrate it. Givner has done just that in her work. Because of her tenacious research and attention to detail, she gives us a study that is often anecdotal but always honest, and no doubt that combination makes for a great biographical read. She gives us the real Porter, and at the same time never lets us forget that when Porter did find the time to write, she was one of the great literary talents of the twentieth century.

An engaging tale, steeped in Jewish folk tradition
Written by Joan Betty Stuchner and illustrated by Richard Row, The Kugel Valley Klezmer Band is the picture book story of Shira, a ten-year-old girl who excitedly watches a klezmer band (a group of traveling musicians who play at weddings and parties). Seeing potential talent, they bestow a toy fiddle on her. She practices as hard as she can, in hope of becoming worthy to play for the village. The Kugel Valley Klezmer Band is an engaging tale, steeped in Jewish folk tradition, and highly recommended for young readers ages 3 to 8.

Adorable book
This is a great book for pre-K or kindergarten kids. It explains Kwanzaa in simple language with rhymes that make it fun. The large shapes and bright intense colors appeal to kids this age. And the flaps are big, easy for little hands to grasp, and not easily torn. This is a book that was needed, so I'm glad to find it.

Extremely insightful
Lacanian Ink provides a comprehensive and accessible introduction to the work of French psychoanalyst-philosopher Jacques Lacan. The essays by authors as diverse as Slavoj Zizek, Alain Badiou, Jacques -Alain Miller, David Hayman and Juliet Flower-McCannell as well as art critics such as Raphael Rubinstein, David Ebony and Josefina Ayerza, and feminist-theorists Peggy Phelan, Jan Avgikos and Joan Copjec, not to mention Richard Foreman, John Yau and Lynne Tillman, map the shiftings of Lacanian theory in the USA. Linking key psychoanalytical and philosophical concepts to social and cultural phenomena, Lacanian Ink represents a powerful contribution to a psychoanalytical theory of ideology as well as offering persuasive interpretations of the contemporary art scene.

My favorite play.
I did my very first monologue from this play, when I took drama lessons as an adult. I am very attached to it, and this telling of the life of Joan of Arc is my favorite.

Another great read from Joan Overfield--par excellence!!!
I enjoyed this book very much and I am not a "regency" fan, just a reader who likes good books, with interesting ideas, fine writing, and capable characters. Joan Overfield did a super job creating a good story, and incorporating tons of research. She knows her stuff!
