Total Recall: How to Boost Your Memory Power
Sorry, but this is the worst book on memory I have ever read. You have to drag yourself through 200 pages of scientific studies, university tests, and theories before any practical advice for memory retention is discussed. And then when it is discussed, it's not very specific, has very few examples, and is covers a very narrow range. I wanted extremely specific and practical instructions on a very wide spectrum. This book didn't have that. So far, I've never found any author better than Harry Lorayne.

The proper title for this book should be...
the reasons we choose to forget. This book is valuable in that it teaches you why you don't have total recall. It explains how to overcome the mental and emotional roadblocks to a perfect memory, as well as the reasons why we may not want one. Well worth the reading.

A gradual build-up of suspense would've been better.
"SILENCE IS GOLDEN" was the warning issued to the new associate history professor Sarah Cummings, who just started at Sprucewood College. When Officer Jake Wolfe hits on her at an off-campus hamburger joint, Sarah outwardly freezes him out, but inwardly goes into a state of full-blown panic! But Jake won't take "no" for an answer.

Overall, the story is a complete waste of time & money. Jake's character lacked depth and maturity. I also couldn't believe how fast Sarah 'melted' for Jake--like somebody did a complete 180 on her personality between one chapter and the next!

This is Ms. Hohl's first book in her Wolfe Brothers Quartet. Don't miss Wolfe Watching, Wolfe Wanting & Wolfe Wedding--they're all a distinct improvement over this one.

BIG DISAPPOINTMENT -- SORRY!
I still find it hard to imagine 6 foot 4 inches tall. This is not a complaint just an observation.

Starting out with Jake Wolfe, the youngest at 30 something? then there is Eric, at 33, and brother Royce at 36 and Cameron, maybe 36? These brothers are following a 100 year old tradition in law enforcement.

Jake is an officer in Sprucewood, Pennsylvania and Eric works for the Philly police force. Royce is a sergeant in the Pennsylvania State Police near the northern border and Cameron, known as the "Lone Wolfe", is a federal government special agent. This is the start of a good series?

Poor old Jake was starting to become a decent character but silly Sarah did invite him into her bed much too quick. And the fear she was living in just didn't cut it.

Ah well, the Desire series is supposed to be a light, short, fast story -- read to get the gist of the Wolfe family and pass it on -- not exciting enough to keep. We will see about the other brothers stories. most definitely a minus M.

BE FOREWARNED
Last year, before my senior year started, I asked my mom to buy me a study guide to "prep" for AP US Government. Unfortunately, she got this one - and I was very disappointed with it. If you are looking for an in-depth review of various topics - as I was last year - this book is definitely not for you. If you are the type of person who needs a last minute study guide before the test this book is for you; it does have important study points. In my estimation, although they themselves aren't that great, it is best to stick with Barron's AP books.

Many Errors Found in this book!
This book has a tremendous number of errors. This should not be happening in a study manual for the NYS teaching exam. Most of the errors are in the Math Review section where the question doesn't match the solution! There are also errors in the Science Review. At one point a table doesn't match the questions! I have also found a couple of typos in direction paragraphs. The tips are good, but be aware of all the errors.

Not the best
I am a c++ programmer and tried to brush up on C using this book. I had to buy a new book. Maybe an engineer can get some use for their $55 some bucks but I didn't.

Ok, but not what I expected
The description on the back of the book was very intriguing and led me to believe that it would be about life after marriage, what "happily ever after" entails. Not too many romance novels (contemporary or historical) focus on the "everyday drudgery" of just living together as husband and wife but rather on the "falling in love" stage of relationships whether that is before/after marriage. I thought that this novel would present Matthew's proposition to Katherine and quickly move to problems that they overcome individually and together. As it is, Matthew, who is initially presented as an interesting, somewhat mysterious character, is never fully developed and remains a remote, emotionless workaholic with occasional outbreaks of passion. Katherine, on the other hand, is as confused as a teenager even though she's a widow who has raised two children to adulthood by herself. Furthermore, the storyline focuses on Katherine constantly switching from her perspective to an omniscient narrative without any warning so that the plot is a mish-mash of past and present as confused/twisted as her thoughts. Also, it was unnecessary and even a little bit confusing to include the goings-on in the relationship of a mutual friend of both Matt and Katherine. While the premise was promising, the story did not quite live up to my expectations.

a big let down!
I was not at all impressed with this book. The carachters were too shallow. I never really felt like I was totally connecting with them. I absolutely could not stand Leslie, the heroin. She had no backbone to speak of, and Flint totally rode roughshod over her through the entire book. The book had a terrific story line and I even Liked Flint, but it just left me with no 'feeling' at all. This is the only book by Joan Hohl that I haven't liked. I'm normally a really big fan of hers. I've read several of her books. However, this book most certainly was not up to her usual standards. I would not recommend anyone waste their money on it. If you want to read a good Joan Hohl, then I suggest "Ever After" now that was an entertaining romance!

Pelican rescuers take note
This is a 1980's documentary of a vet's pelican rescue. Style points for the funky font . Gives a good overview of how to rescue a single bird, but doesn't exactly relate to people who do so on a grand scale, or say, after an oil spill.

A Disappointment
I had respect for Prof. Wheeler, and so this book came as a tremendous disappointment. It does little but trot out all the latest fringe 'theories' about a woman who has already been the subject of numerous myths and dubious theories already.

sharp end
My father was in SOE Station 10, Aston at the establishment of Special Operations Executive, so I can confirm the events in this story.
