A Scenicruiser Eye View of the Mother Road
True stories of driving for the Big Dog along Route 66. Written in a freindly, come-on-along style that makes it a pleasure to travel the road with Howard Suttle. Humor, tragedy and a love of the road are reflected in each of the stories. For anyone who ever wanted to drive a bus, or take a cross-country trip while allowing someone else to do the driving this is a must read.

Outstanding
If you can find it, buy it; I believe it is now out of print. I love stories with pirates. This one is one of the best. Lucian, the pirate finds that his arch enemy's fiance Sarina is aboard a ship he raids. As he wants revenge on the guy, he intends to steal her virtue. The enemy, a conniving jerk, only wants her money so she is better off without him. The book captures you right from the beginning. The ending was everything I wanted it to be. I understand this was the first historical romance by this author. The second is Beloved Intruder which I found and am now reading (so far very good). I will not stop until I find all of Ms. Van Nuys' books. She has an incredible gift of story telling. As I said, I'm current reading my second Joan Van Nuys book and have another unread yet in my book shelf. They seem to all have completely different story lines, therefore, I don't think they need to be read in any specific order. If you find them, get them, you won't regret it.

Excellent!
Beloved Intruder is a must read. Hope, a doctor, had to leave her home in Pittsburgh after being accused of something she had no control over. She and her father Thomas flee to Shenango Valley, land surrounded by Indians. Hope meets Flower, sister to Firewalker, an Indian warrior who hates whites due to what some did to his people. Although he is curt with Hope everytime they see each other, she slowly breaks the ice around his heart. Of course, life isn't simple... Jacques D'Arcy a Frenchman finds he is deeply attracted to beautiful Hope but is also out for gain. He sees she and her father come from wealth and that is the main attraction. Hope's trust in men is shattered as she was previously engaged to a man in Pennsylvania who elected not to stand by her in her time of need. (good riddence I say). Hope cannot ignore the fact that she is highly attracted to the handsome Indian Firewalker. It only gets better. What I absolutely loved about this book is that while there were misunderstandings, they didn't carry on to the very last page when finally all works out. I appreciate the fact that Ms. Van Nuys knows her readers in the end want to read at least one chapter, instead of the last paragraph where the tension is over. Not a disappointment. I definitely recommend this book. It may be hard to find as it is out of print but I found it at a used book store.

This book, like all the other Berenstain B. books, is GREAT!
Although I am already 10, I think that the Berenstain Bear Books are very good and fun to read. Also, they have a great value or moral to the story. The book reminds me of the problems and solutions to daily life. It is ann extremely good book. In the Berenstain Bears count their blessings, Sister and Brother Bear learn not to be selfish.

bernard's bath
My son is two years old and he loves this book. I had to read it to him four times the first night we had the book. The illustrations are fun and it is very easy to read. One reason my son loves this book is that he can relate to all the ways bernard's family tries to get him into the tub with bath toys, and bubbles. Plus the fact that bernard and his family are elephants doesn't hurt.

First grade class enjoys "Bernard's Nap".
Recently my first grade class listened as I read "Bernard's Nap" and it seemed they thoroughly identified with the nap-delaying tactics employed by Bernard. Their eyes sparkled as he was not only able to put off napping for a bit longer, but was able to tuck in all the adults in the process. The pictures were soft and comfortable and filled with interesting and unusual details because Bernard's family are elephants, and as my childrens said, they live in an 'elephant world'!

Very funny and makes its point without being preachy
I thought my kids would never stop laughing! After we had read it, all I had to do in similar situations was remind them of Bernie - and they would laugh and relax about whatever they were losing their temper over. Definitely a good buy.

An excellent manual for teachers
First of all, it should be pointed out that this excellent manual adhers to the principles of the Royal Ballet School in London. Many different aspects are being dealt with, for instance "The importance of stance", "Comments on the teaching of boys", "Physical factors". One very useful chapter is called "The development of children with youthful skeletal age". This book is aimed at teachers of beginners and intermediate students and they ought to study it carefully. It is very amply illustrated, the photographs are posed for by children of the appropriate age. One of the final chapters "The build-up of a class" in which each step is painstakingly explained, should be read, re-read and then read again by the teacher in order to convey the idea of perfect execution to the pupil.
