All is well--Claire Malloy is in town!l
Miss Emily and her basset hounds, Nick and Nora, have gotten Claire into trouble before (Roll Over and Play Dead and Dear Miss Demeanor) and are not totally innocent bystanders when it happens again. Claire, daughter Caron, and Caron's chum Inez comprise the trio which manages to run amuck on Willow Street--to the expressed displeasure of Lieutenant Peter Rosen. Peter, an employee of the local homicide division of the police department, is Claire's ardent lover and friend. In the past he has made many vehement objections to her forays into the areas of his expertise and, on occasion, has had her arrested to keep her from the fray. This time a famous painter, a nearly-naked neighbor, a writer, promoter, lawyer, two missionaries, and a soon-to-be-dead-wife all contrive to upset the tea party and give Peter ample reason to complain. If you, too, want to discover why the fire department arrives, what makes Miss Parchester say, "Could it be related in some way to the bears I saw in my backyard?", and who kills the second victim, you will have to read the latest and very funny Joan Hess mystery starring Claire Malloy--Busy Bodies.

Easy to read and very informative
I really liked this book. I'm just starting in the selling end of Antiques and Collectibles and I found this book extremely informative. I actually came online today to see if the Binghams had written another book or if there was a latest edition out on this book. I checked it out of my local library and read it during a week's vacation at the beach. It was very easy reading with helpful information. I would (and have) recommend it to anyone interested in antiques, collectibles and even junk turned to treasures. Thank you.

Historian's dream
I purchased this book many years ago at a used bookstore. At the time I was developing a teaching unit for a class I would be doing for 4th grade students on the development of art in California from the time of the Native Americans through the gold rush. This book became the basis for my course.

It is full of hard facts plus fascinating antidotes that really brought the subject alive for my students. Since it is impossible to talk about the art of any culture or area without the historic background, I found this book to be my new best friend.

I would recommend it to anyone interested in history on any level. Joan and Gene Olson are excellent writers who write with a twinkle in their eye.

Thank you Joan and Gene!

Can You Say A Few Words?
This book is well written (in easy-to-use segments) and it's loaded with really practical information. You'll get great advice that's truly useful - whether you have to speak at a meeting, present an award, give a eulogy, make a wedding toast, whatever. In particular, the section on 'handling tough questions' is worth its weight in gold (it's perfect for anyone facing a job interview!).

Also, the book has a huge section on 'overcoming nervousness'. I've never seen such helpful information in any other public speaking book.

From the Publisher
Information about the book:

Cancer is often called a "family disease" because it affects more than the person who is diagnosed. For families with young or adolescent children, this is especially true. This book outlines valuable steps necessary to help children understand what happens when a parent has been diagnosed with cancer.

This book also includes a special illustrated workbook designed just for children and adolescents to help them record their thoughts and feelings so they can learn how to navigate through this emotional time. Even when a parent is sick, families can learn how to strengthen ties, provide comfort, and show loving concern for each other.

Very helpful
I attended a conference presentation where two of the editors outlined some of the ideas that are presented in the book. The information about negotiating salaries, finding a mentor, and dealing with departmental politics and the personal stories presented will provide invaluable for anyone starting out in academia, or even for those who have been there a while!

This book is a great idea!
My 6 and 7-year-old sons love cars and trucks and books about them. This is the first book I've seen that has both a story and step-by-step instructions for drawing cars and trucks. Instructions are simple enough for young kids, yet they yield a cute drawing at the end. I recommend this book!

Ceaucescu's Children - The Amazing Story of One Woman's Mission to Romanian Orphans
Published in Paperback by Trafalgar Square (01 October, 1998)
Author: Joan Simkins
Amazon base price: $11.95

An eye-opener to truth
Amazing book. The descriptions are clear and startling. Joan exposes the reason for the thousands of institutionalised children-Ceaucescu and his selfish, dehumanising ways. She shows that these children are beautiful and require one thing above all else...love of God and of us who have it in our ability to help.
