Czech and Slovak Touches
The past, present and future of the Czech and Slovak people is reflected in Czech and Slovak Touches: Recipes, History, Travel, Folk Arts, a revision of the original Czech Book by Pat Martin.

In this book, an outgrowth of a trip to the two Republics, Pat Martin touches on the magnificent history of the Czech and Slovak Republics, which lie side-by-side in the heart of Europe. Significant events, sites, culture and traditions demonstrate the rich heritage shared and preserved by the Czechs and Slovaks.

Events leading to the immigration of the strong populace of Czech and Slovak people in North America are cited, along with the successful establishment of the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a showcase of their rich heritage. Excerpts from statements at the Museum dedication made by Czech Republic President Vaclav Havel, Slovak Republic President Michal Kovac, and U.S. President William J. Clinton are included.

Personal essays tell of life in the New World and ties to the Old. How and where to begin a search for family and cultural ties is noted by Mark Vasko-Bigaouette, director of Heritage Tours, which emphasizes defining Czech and Slovak roots.

Travel in the two Republics includes the author's personal observations of Prague and Bratislava, as well as areas that reveal the charm and distinction of these two nations as a natural entity: from the views and skyline of the Golden City of Prague, to the pastoral and peaceful scenes of Moravian wine country, to the hiking, mountain climbing, and skiing delights of the High Tatra Mountains in Slovakia.

Further definition of national character is observed in folk crafts and enterprise, traditional celebrations, and foods. Over 100 recipes of traditional foods are reprinted from the original book.

Stunning color photographs by Joan Liffring-Zug Bourret and others depict the beauty and magnificence of the two Republics. Additional photos show Czechs and Slovaks in America.

An understandable overview of adult ADD.
I am a licensed family therapist and I recommend this book to all of my clients who are dealing with adult ADD/ADHD issues. A concise overview, the book has clear explanations, a very readable style and a welcome dose of humor! I'm not sure that it shouldn't be required reading for clinicians as well.

This book is not only for children but adults who have little knowledge of Rome. Rome is described with clearity and the drawings are very good. Lot of information in a little book! DeWayne Baxter

Dance therapy notebook

Excellent resource for novices and the experienced
This is a book about dance therapy written by a practitioner. It is written in a personal style rather than academic and speaks to what dance therapy is and how it is practiced. It gives a way of thinking about it that evokes one's own experiences and allows self-questioning. Joan Lewin is a beautiful writer and the book itself is beautful graphically. I highly recommend this book for all readers.

Prediction Skills
This is a great book to use when you help enhance your students' prediction skills. You could have the students guess what they think will happen next as you orally read the story. You could also have the students write their own ending and then read the book's ending to see if they guessed right or if they like their own ending better! I would use this in grades 1-3.

A MUST for Birding in Southeast Arizona!
As novice birdwatchers, this book was indispensable for planning our birdwatching trip to SE Arizona. It gave specific locations to visit for birds that you could expect to see there. Directions were clear and concise. With help from this book, we saw nearly every bird species we had hoped to see. This book is a must for this region!

MIDWEST BOOK REVIEW
I love devotional books but this one, to me, is top of the line.
Each day starts out with a passage from the Word of God, followed
by a short discussion on that word, and ending with a short prayer. Very nice.

I like to be able to read a morsel or two before my day begins and this is such a good way to do it. This book can be read year after year, it's words will still apply.

Great devotional! Heart warming!

Dear Teddy Robinson

Utterly charming!
Deborah is a 5-6 yr. old girl living in England c. 1960 who adores her teddy bear, Teddy Robinson, and together they have fun adventures around the house or with friends. The writing is very graceful, using a delightful blend of fantasy and innocence but thankfully without gratuitous sugar-coated soppiness. The characters are all respectful of each other, have an excellent sense of humor, and are thoroughly endearing.

I read Dear Teddy Robinson and More Teddy Robinson in 1970 when I was 6, living in England with my parents, and rediscovered them recently with my own children (boys aged 3 & 6). Each chapter is a delightful bedtime story.
