Wonderful, sweet book!
I discovered this book at our local library, and our four-year-old daughter loved listening to it so much that we actually purchased a copy. The everyday adventures of a young girl and her teddy bear, it manages to be engaging, sweet, and innocent, without being saccharine or cloying. My two and a half and eight year olds and my husband enjoyed it as well! We read a lot of books, and for a four year old, I would recommend this one above all others.

Utterly charming!
Deborah is a 5-6 yr. old girl living in England c. 1960 who adores her teddy bear, Teddy Robinson, and together they have fun adventures around the house or with friends. The writing is very graceful, using a delightful blend of fantasy and innocence but thankfully without gratuitous sugar-coated soppiness. The characters are all respectful of each other, have an excellent sense of humor, and are thoroughly endearing.

This book is a compilation taken largely from the books Dear Teddy Robinson and More About Teddy Robinson. I read them in 1970 when I was 6, living in England with my parents, and rediscovered them recently with my own children (boys aged 3 & 6). Each chapter is a delightful bedtime story.

Ted Joans...WOW!!!
Ted Joans is a writer like few out and about today. He is real, true, honest and blows your mind with everything he serves us up on his poetic platter. More people out there--writers included--could use a little Teducation!!!

ted educates
from personal views on various strugles through observation on society, this highly educational gift brings us to closer understanding of afro-american existence in usa. for someone like me who comes from southern europe it is very important to come close to the knowledge about presented topics. it deffinetly gives different light to my own personal experiences of war and divisions. pieces like: Let's play something, Dead Serious, The Truth, A Few Blue Words..., may for some only share the obvious but for me it represents often unspoken and taken for granted.

to watch Ted go through 50 years of his work and see the changes in his persona is individualy rewarding. he may not be the mainstream, yet he is the shaman of our time.

as a guru he says: "...you HAVE NOTHING TO FEAR FROM THE POET BUT THE TRUTH".

as a prophet he predicts: "All your automobiles will die of thirst Pedestrians shall inherit the streets"

Former student of Joan Snyder
I believe "The Dynamics of Acting" to be an invaluable asset to ANY instructor OR student of theatrics. I,myself,am a former drama student of Joan Snyder,(1969/70 thru 1971/72). I, and all my fellow theater students, remember well when this book was being written. Many of our photographs are featured demonstrating various techniques & styles. For more than 4 years previous to "Dynamics" first edition she taught using the same techniques & styles found in this book. An extraordinarily gifted educator; her success can be measured not only in the many awards her students won in local and statewide competitons, but also in the many paths taken in their adult lives. BELIEVE in Dennis Caltagirone & Joan Snyder, and BELIEVE in thier book "The Dynamics of Acting". Both you, your students and all of your experiences in theatrics & in your lives will be enriched in the process. My all time favorite Joan Snyder phrase:"Remember: The KEY to acting is BELIEVABILITY".

A Great Book for Everyone
After looking at many books for insights into the theatre and teaching drama to my students, I've discovered the wonder of this book that arranges the abundant material in such an easy to digest form that my students are borrowing it from me to read it themselves. It not only informs, but it cultivates interest and is a necessary reference for any teacher of English Literature, drama or stage production. Thank you Dennis!

A beautiful book that helps understand contemporary problems
This is a beautifully written and illustrated book that makes us see the world in a new light. The author explains issues such as intolerance, war and lonelines as immature reactions that can be understood and overcome by spiritual growth and reverence to the soul and to the natural world.

The book consists of 20 short essays, each pondering one of the seasons in the Book of Ecclesiastes, a time to be born and a time to die, a time to love and a time to hate,a time to plant and a time to sow, etc. and guiding us to meditate and to see life in a fuller and more gentle context.

This is a beatifully illustrated book that can be used as a special gift. I have read and re-read it, which I seldom do, because it always helps me focus on the real virtues of life. I have given it to my ( young adult) children who are now entering the time in their lives where living meaningfully will impact all that they do.

The simplicity of the style and the poetry of the images makes this a delightful book to be turn to time and again. Few authors can say so much in such few words.

Beautifully written and illustrated verses of Ecclesiates.
Joan Chittister's reflections on the famous verses of Ecclesiates, 'to everything there is a season...' are not only articulate, suscinct, and penned in beautiful prose, they are also thought provoking and challenging in many ways. John August Swanson's art is simply breathtaking! The more you study the pictures, the more there is to be revealed. Included is a useful description of how the print was made by the artist himself. I have read some of Joan Chittister's works before and find her style to be interesting. It is deceptively easy to read. She is profound in her observations and astute in her assessments. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and found it to be one of the best I read all year.

Umbr(a) : Science and Truth
Published in Paperback by Center for the Study of Psychoanalysis and Culture (31 May, 2000)
Authors: Joan Copjec, Slavoj Zizek, and Alain Badiou
Amazon base price: $8.00
Used price: $193.23

An intervention
Umbr(a) marks a definitive break with the one-sided conventions of Lacanian literary criticism and/or clinical applications. While I would maintain that several of the articles tread familiar ground in the field of psychoanalysis and cultural studies, the Badiou and Milner articles are truly exceptional, scientifically informed studies of the relation between philosophy, science and psychoanalysis. It doesn't hurt that the Badiou article is quite critical of Lacan at times. My one complaint would be that there isn't any response to Sokal's critique of Lacan. A notable omission for such an easy target.

Worth Getting
If only for the phenomenal article by Robert Groome at the end of this book, this is worth shelling out the eight bucks. The others are all pretty standard, that is to say, you've read it all before. Mr. Groome's article on logic, however, is a very unique find.

Pulls back the covers
Joan Veon was at first confused by the conflicting messages from the U.N. and its advocates. So she attended the Cairo Conference on over-population and began her education. Many conferences later, she has done her homework, gives professional quality analysis in a no-nonsense way, and exposes the United Nations for what it is -- a burgeoning One World Government. You can think yourself educated on this subject if you are not familiar with her work, but you are cheating yourself of hard-core information to not add it to your reading list.

A Must Read
If you are a Christian this is a must read. Joan M. Veon has had a hands on experience with the UN. She extensively goes deep into what are the real goals of the UN which are sugar-coated to the general public at the moment. With actual UN documentation, and very reliable info resources; Joan M. Veon presents without question that the main aim of the UN is a NWO One World Government. Get this one - prophecy students !!!!
