There was a spunky heroine, a matchmaking mother, and a sensitive but strong hero. A Proper Taming was witty and I remember laughing once aloud. It was a good book, but the many typos were distracting. The ending was a bit abrupt which, although being a drawback, was an indication that I didn't want it to end quickly. It is definitely worth a read for those who enjoy traditional Regency romances, but gosh.....those mistakes drive me nuts!

Pat and Joan have, in this book, put together a practical, thought provoking and, when appropriate, humorous primer on what it takes to lead today's and tomorrow's organization. Get it, read it and read it again!

it's too bad this book is out of print - the recipes are varied, efficient, easy, and satisfying. i especially like the tagliarini with garlic sauce (p. 45) - a house favorite.

this book is a good beginner's cookbook. each recipe offers simple menu suggestions, and the book is also laced with a number of helpful kitchen tips. my only quarrel is with the paucity of vegetarian recipes.

What the book mostly focuses on is comprehension, what readers have difficulty with, and how to escape from reading mind blocks. During each chapter the book offers small reading tests for you to find out how you're doing, which helped me a lot. It should have covered more on speed reading techniques than just on comprehension, but the book is worth a try anyway.

I only read this because it was a required for a degree. There are other books out there that are much better than this one.

This book is more about cooking than just a list of recipes (though there are a number of very good ones!). If you love British food, then you should consider adding this to your kitchen bookshelf. Good English to American conversion charts on the inside covers, plus a number of interesting asides giving you an insight into the author's life. Also a couple of unusual recipes dating back throughout the last century.

Pat and Joan hit the soft spot again. In our false Puritanical and strong silent type corporate culture, the hardest thing to get them to do sincerely, should be the easiest and natural thing to do. So read this book and be reminded that good leadership and management begins with the basics of civil and human behavior. And if you still find it doesn't fit well with your strong silent type suit you wear at work, try the Navy and Marine short but emotion filled way of saying thanks and good job: Well done, Jones, well done... keep it up! This book is perfect for a homeowner that is considering designing their own home. Beginning students of architecture will find this book excellent leading to an overall understanding of the aspects necessary for a good residential home design.

This book provides the basics that will allow easy progression to specialized books in architectural design, residential structural engineering, construction and interior design. I read this book after I had read other design and architectural books, but wished I had read this book first. For example, read Residential Housing and Interiors then read Architecture: Residential Drawing and Design.

The explanations of design and construction concepts are well written, and the graphics and photos are outstanding.
