A sweet and thoughtful book exploring a committed vocation
Great book. Well written and heartfelt. Uplifting.
An intimate look at the life of a Sister
This is an excellent book for anyone interested in the life of a Nun. Sr. Joan recounts her life, examining critical decision points, and sharing with the reader the warmth and inner peace that she has been able to obtain throught her religious vocation. It was refreshing to learn that underneath her habit beats the heart of a real person with all the typical feelings and emotions felt by us all

This is a great book and it is exciting.
I really liked the story and read it every night until I was done. It was interesting to read about the Hopi and Navajo as I was traveling with my grandparents in the north part of Arizona. I like to read about horses and other kids. It was great!
A story about an unusual friendship
Hawk in theWind is a wonderful book about a Hopi boy and a Navajo girl who take an adventure to Canyon de Chelly. Many things happen to them along the way, and the story keeps you wondering what is going to happen next. I like the book because of the descriptions of the characters and the setting. I could picture everything as I was reading. One of the main reasons I like this book is because there are beautiful horses in the story. I could see myself riding them. I think you should read this book because it will teach you about what life was like for the Hopi and Navajo people in the nineteenth century. Not only that, but this book is a lot of fun to read. You don't want to put it down.

An excellent beginning resource.
It's rather more interested in post-Renaissance jewelry than anything else, devoting quite a bit of its pages to the super ornate stuff. There's a perfectly good reason for this, namely that pre-Renaissance jewelry frequently got melted down and recast. I still wish it'd devoted more time to that earlier stuff, since my interest is particularly in Renaissance-era jewelry. Still, it's a great introduction to the subject.
Well-written, with lots of good tidbits, and one of the few resources for the study of the history of jewelry. Lavish illustrations and portraits, some of which I'd never seen anywhere else before.
Important reference book!
This is an excellent reference book for any jeweler, historian, or SCA participant. There are over 400 photos in the book, which say it all. Great information!

WOW - WHAT A STORY
This is an early Joan Johnston book. It is just GREAT. Sparks fly between Jesse and Honey. A thoroughly enjoyable romantic story.
A Sure Romantic Pleaser
Although not directly related to the series, this book is a wonderful addition to the "Hawk's Way" series. The characters seem to start off a bit slow, much like the plot. However, once you've started reading this novel, it's hard to put it down. The lead romantic interests, Honey Farrell and Jesse Whitelaw, keep the sparks flying whether they're fighting each other or fighting the temptation of love.

The House Has Eyes
Moving to the old Everhart mansion, which is believed to be haunted, newcomer Charles fears the strange incidents that are taking place in his new home and asks the Casebusters to find out if ghosts or pranksters are responsible.
This is a great book!
This is a good mystery. It was not real scary so it doesn't upset children. The author used real detail. He made me think there were eyes in the wall that were looking at me. This is definately a great book!

I was paniced!
What a life saver this book was! My whole box of photos (yes, an old cardboard box) was in my garage when we were hit by huge amounts of rainfall last winter. The rain poured through the garage and soaked everything that was down there. I was paniced. My girlfriend told me to go and buy this book which I did promptly. I saved every single photograph in that old box. Now my whole family history is in the proper type of books, in order and protected. Everyone should own this book. It is an excellent guide and reference book that you will refered to over and over.....
Everyone should have a copy of this book
This easy to read and down to earth handbook helps anyone learn to preserve and protect their family history, photos, collectables... and basically all the stuff we accummulate and treasure. Also, learn how to respond and save your stuff when disasters hit, like earthquakes, floods... or grandkids! After all, anytime you loose something dear to your family's history, its a disaster. The book's step by step instructions and abundant pictures make the information easy to follow.
This book has been reviewed by the conservation community, the disaster response industry, professionals from museums and auction houses, genealogical professionals and always receives the highest compliments and votes.

My child with CP loves it
My daughter is 4 and is fascinated by this book. She wants to read it over and over. It is the only book I have found about a child in a wheelchair. I wish there were more about kids with disabilities.
Howie is for everyone
My 6 year old son has cerebral palsy and he and I both found Howie's story to be very inspiring. Howie is severly physically handicapped. The story is about Howie's frustrations and triumphs as he struggles to become more independent. My son is not in a wheel chair so he has begun to appreciate how fortunate he is to be able to do many things that Howie cannot. The book also helped him developed empathy for those less fortunate than him.

This book changed my life
I was sixteen when I found a battered, old copy of this book in our local library. I pulled it out and started reading ... and could not stop. The girl who wrote this diary was fifteen, addicted to drugs and alcohol, and an artist able to speak the unspeakable, draw the undrawable. At the time when I read this diary, I was suicidal and could not stop the things in my head. In these pages I found someone I could identify with, someone who had felt my pain, and who had come out the other side. Someone who had called herself a witch, slept in her backyard once to get away from it all, fell in love with an older man, loved her horse more than anything, and was painfully, tormentedly, honest. This book changed my world forever. I wish every teenager could read it.
Graphic and honest!
Reminiscent of "Go Ask Alice," this book is a bible for teen-agers coping with drug or alcohol addiction. It doesn't preach; it's a tell-all story of one girl's triumph over her addictions. Although I couldn't relate to the author's problems with drugs and alcohol, I could relate to her problems as a teen-ager. Her brutal honesty went beyond the threshold! Two of the things that separate this diary from others are the author's illustrations and poems-very thought-provoking.

Medical Doctor's Book Review
I am eager to recommend this superbly illustrated and explanatory book of yoga for children. It will fill a much needed place, both for medical practitioners who are now turning to prevent medicine and holistic health care and to the general public.

Outstanding resource for prechool therapists and teachers
This book is a gem--just perfect for occupational therapists, parents or anyone working with special needs preschoolers. The book is organized by various diagnoses as well as specific learning situations found in most preschools-circle time, snack, various centers, etc. The numerous classroom adaptations suggested are outstanding. I work in Head Start preschools where the teachers have limited experience and training with special needs kids. I can't tell you how helpful this book has been.
An incredibly useful tool!
As a teacher in an inclusive preschool classroom and a student of special education, I found this book to be exceptionally useful. The authors provide detailed suggestions for adaptations that can be made in all the usual activities of a preschool environment, such as circle time, art, sand and water table, blocks, dramatic play, snack, and fine and gross motor centers. To make the book even more valuable, the authors discuss a number of different disabilities and suggest appropriate accommodations for each activity according to the type of disability. Autism/PDD, ADHD, Orthopedic Impairments, Developmental Delays, Visual Impairments and Motor Planning Impairments are all addressed. For the most part, the proposed adaptations are easily made and quite successful. Illustrations are provided as well, which may help guide a teacher in implementing adaptations of classroom materials and structure. The design and presentation of the book is reader-friendly and easy to follow, and the tone is one that is quite sensitive to the needs of children with special needs.
