Things that tick me off : a wonderful therapeutic tool
I am a psychotherapist in private practice who has utilized "Things that tick me off" as a therapeutic tool with several clients. It has been a remarkable asset in their quest to get in touch with internalized and externalized anger. Many of the exercises assist in appropriately re-directing anger, allowing clients to reconfigure their lives and move toward a healthier and happier life.

We All Need This!!!
This journal is unusual in that it helps its reader to identify and examine anger triggers. It is a great source of information on anger and provides a path to anger management. I can see how it would help anyone to become a master of their emotions.
...

The joy of spouting off -- this book makes it even easier
It's true: many of us only write in a journal when we're unhappy, mad, ticked off. Journals are so good for that kind of catharsis. Joan Mazza's guided journal, Things That Tick Me Off, may be where you turn when you need a safe place to ventilate, but because Mazza is so skilled at what she does, you'll likely end up feeling much more relaxed. You might even tap into some creativity while you're emoting according to the many prompts she provides.

Divided into chapters that cover such hot button stress areas as work, personal life, and world affairs, this book also has a lot to say about how to transform your anger into something that can do you -- and maybe others -- some good. A great starting point if journaling is new to you, and a good new beginning if you've become bored with your same old diary.

In my own life, I've found that focused, "one subject" journals like this can be enormously helpful and satisfying. As if anger didn't swoosh over into ALL areas at times! It's even possible that by tapping into all that fury and frustration, you might be able to convert what you come up with into something creative. A story, a poem, a letter?

Helpful, Interesting and Easy to Read
The author, Joan Vos MacDonald, has the ability to tell a story and help people learn at the same time. The book can be read by adults as well as children. The book also talks about the dangers of tobacco and nicotine through stories of real people --this helps bring the point home -- Don't Smoke! I plan to recommend this book to my friends, even give it as gifts to parents....

Tobacco and Nicotine Drug Dangers
This is a really informative book and will be helpful to anyone trying to get kids to stop smoking.

Why not to smoke
I think that this book tells kids all about smoking in a way that is not insulting to them. It has stories of kids who smoked or wanted to smoke or had their lives changed by people who smoked. The facts are all there but the person who wrote the book treats kids as if they can think for themselves and make their own decisions based on the facts. I would recommend this book to schools and libraries so more kids could read it. It is very helpful.

If you love dogs, you'll love this book!!!
This is a good book for kids who like dogs and who want to read longer books. I read this book to my little brother and our dog and we all loved it! We have a dog just like Blue. His name is Spofford. If you like dogs and books, you'll love True Blue!!

A parent, dog owner and avid reader from N.J.
"True Blue" is a wonderful book for children and parents alike. Readers of all ages will get caught up in the story and run the emotional gamut with J.D., her dog, Blue, and Blue's best canine buddy, Molasses. The book leaves readers satisfied, yet wanting more stories about J.D. and Blue. Highly reccommended!

Great Children's Story
This is an unlifting story of a dog's devotion and intelligence. Great for young readers and excellently illustrated. I'm buying extra copies for my nieces and nephews.

By John Pears Cleveden Secondary Glasgow Scotland.(Oban Drive Campus)

Brilliant
I'm still giving this 5 stars, though Across the Barricades was better. It was really good the way they become friends at the end.

Enjoyable
What I enjoyed about this book was that it shows no matter how different people they can get along. Kevin and Sadie became friends in the end.

Velvet Whispers

Wild...Hot...Totally Fantastic
This book was not what I normally read...it was recommended by a friend of mine for spicing up marraige. It was totally hot and erotic....but nothing in it really shocked me. I guess it was the way the words and images were used with such taste that it somehow seemed much better than the porno movies that my husband sometimes watches with his friends. (Must be a guy thing...) I found the sexual awakening of Alice not that different than my own learning experiences with my husband....not to get too personal and not saying that I have done all those things that Alice talks about (lets be real, who could), but I will admit that it was a turn on...especially reading a loud to my husband....it made for some really interesting nights.....my best wishes for you and your nights when you read this book.

excellent book for a married couple to read together
This is a really great book my husband and i read it together at night in bed it filled with wonderful ideas for a couple to do together

Sensuality with flare
Velvet Whispers, Joan Elizabeth Lloyd's latest novel, is a story about Alice Waterman, a rather unglamourous 32 year old dental receptionist with a flare for story telling. Because of her mother's need for nursing home care and a friend's candid admission that she moonlights providing "phone sex," Alice becomes interested in doing so, too.

From here on the story could have easily become a tired recital of sex-on-the-phone. Lurid exchanges leading nowhere could have soon bored the reader. But happily, this story doesn't. The plot development, the protagonist's transformations in her new role, and the book's other characters are all deftly sketched--and believable.

This book is respectful of its characters, and,of you, the reader's intelligence as well. It's also delightfully erotic. The characters who could have so easily become 2-dimensional libidinal stereotypes, achieve a realism that's quite rare in books of this genre. In short, Velvet Whispers is an engaging tale, very well told by a skilled story teller about a modern Sheherazade(Alice's "nom de phone"). The sex, while deliciously described, is just one part of the story. Like her other books, Lloyd's latest is erotica with flare. It resists the temptation to provide a glib denouement and is engaging to the end. Its author deserves accolades for her literary skill and for her humanism as well. I can't think of anyone who does this type of novel better. I liked it--very much--and think you will, too! A fun read.

A lovely book for children and adults
I still remember my Mother asking, "What color is love?" as she finished reading this book to me. A beautiful expression of an abstract concept and a fond memory, I agree, this book needs to be in print again.

A Book Before it's Time
I was introduced to this book today, for the first time. I was amazed at the lessons celebrating diversity. It's amazing that this book was written so many years ago!

An all time favorite
My mother received a copy of this book as a teenager, and a few years ago so did I. I am so sorry it is out of print and it is hard to continue the giving of this gift of love.

Gorgeous Illustrations
Buy this book for the illustrations. They're spectacular. You'll want to frame each one and hang them on your wall. Of just leave it on your coffee table for people to ohh and ahh over.
For anyone who can't afford an original Carla Golembe -- she's a famous artist who exhibts in Mass. and Maryland -- this is the next best thing.

good for kids without their realizing it
I find myself struggling to get my daughter to eat foods good for her body and read books good for her mind. This book accomplished what I wanted -- it teaches about a different culture, taking care of the environment, and how greed leads to punishment. It did this with an entertaining story and beautiful pictures, fully deserving it's prominent place on my daughter's bookshelf.

Great folk tale for kids of all ages!!
Why the sky is far away is a great story that teaches important ecological and moral values in a fun way. The illustrations are amazing and the story is delightful.

You've got to be bad before you can be good!
Hi we've got this book in our CJP-NHRecord Office to show to anyone interested in obtaining a rewarding career in the Music Industry. This is one book they should read from cover to cover and cherish as a treasure. It's a full of great wisdom from a great gentleman who enriched the lives of so many and whose spirit is carried on and alive through Joan Carol, his wife, who is a great lady in her own right. Take the opportunity to read about WHY "you've got to be bad before you can be good" and then you can work toward the rewarding career in the Music Industry that Cliffie himself understood, loved, & lived so well. Thank you for letting me tell you IT'S WORTH YOUR purchase and actually UNDER priced for its value of knowledge enclosed. It will make a GREAT present for anyone this season and all year long. God Bless and now "BE GOOD!" & add it to your order!!

This is THE BOOK to buy!
The word on the street in L.A. & Nashville has been that this is THE BOOK to buy if you're serious about music. The people who told me this didn't even know who Cliffie is or that I knew him! The book has an extremely friendly & encouraging tone, which I appreciated. The thing that had the most profound effect on me was that I felt like Cliffie was talking directly to me! I felt like he was still with us - telling stories, imparting his wisdom & wit, and that this book was a labor of love, a gift to us after his passing. I felt like he was sitting on my shoulder the whole time I was reading it - I've read a lot of books and have never had that sensation before. (I'm getting chill bumps as I am writing this.) I would not be suprised to learn that he's sitting on lots of people's shoulders while they read this book. The front cover looks warm & friendly, and the copy leads the reader to believe there will be lots of useful, practical advice and suggestions inside, which there is. The back cover looks like a Cliffie & Joan Carol Production! They both look great and the graphic border compliments their Southwestern style. ( I'm a graphic artist as well as a musician, so the first thing I look at is the graphics!) Also, the quotes and their authors are extremely impressive! I don't think anyone has ever written a step-by-step comprehensive guide to moving ahead in the music business, especially one so accessible to the layperson. If I had read it 10 years ago, I could have saved myself a lot of time, energy & frustration; and reading it at this point in my career will help me move ahead more efficiently. We, as the readers, get to benefit from "The Master's" (Hey - I'm not the only one who calls him that!) vast experience & expertise.

You Gotta Be Bad Before You Can Be Good
It is a rare opportunity to recieve knowledge from one who has done it all, writes from experience, passes on the lessons. It is a book you will want to refer to over and over again as you journey down music road.

The Young Gymnast
Published in Paperback by Penguin Books Ltd (27 February, 1997)
Authors: Joan Jackman and Shannon Miller
Amazon base price: $

COOL
When I got this book, I hadn't even started gymnastics. So I could't do most of the stuff in it. So I only recommend it to people who are beginners and who's coach has already gone over it.

This is a very good book for young beginning gymnasts.
I thought that it was a good book for just beginning, but if you want to get it make sure you are just starting or it will be all stuff you already know and it wont be of very much use. I was in level 2 when i got it, but i think it would be of more use if i got it last year.

A GREAT BOOK FOR GYMNASTS!
This book is great for young gymnasts. Or any age as a matter of fact. The foreword is by Shannon Miller, America's most decorated gymnast. This book tells you how to do some basic skills and warm-ups. It covers each apparatus in gymnastics, including rhythmic and sports acrobatics. If you're a gymnast, then this is the book for you.
