A valuable and much needed updating of a classic reference.
Everything in one book!
This book covers the largest time period in fashion history available today. Although the author limited herself to one book, the amount of information that is packed into this book is absolutely wonderful for anyone interested in costuming. Not only is politcal history covered, trival facts and those who influenced fashion are described in concise detail. Most helpful are the sketches on nearly every other page, which show details of full outfits and variations of certain garments. Diagrams of how to tie men's ties and special period collars are extremely useful. Men, women, children, underwear, shoes, accessories - this book covers it all.

An absolute "must-read" for anyone undergoing divorce
Financial Custody: You, Your Money, And Divorce by Certified Divorce Planner Joan Coullahan and Certified Financial Planner and Chartered Financial Consultant Sue van der Linden is an absolute "must-read" for anyone undergoing or about to undertake a divorce. Chapters cover the basics of legal procedures, the importance of getting organized, child support and alimony, negotiation and settlement, and much, much more. Written by experienced professionals in clear, accessible language accessible to the non-specialist general reader, Financial Custody is crucial, recommended reading for anyone who doesn't want to end their divorce flat broke.
Gentle guidance from non-attorneys
As Joan and Sue point out, divorce is seen a primarily a legal process. In my opinion, that is because the attorneys have the strongest union which services divorcing couples. But as Certified Financial Planners, these dedicated professionals have shared a new perspective on how to approach the emotionally and financially difficult transition of dissolving a marriage. This book is not a "do it yourself" divorce kit, but instead helps couples be good consumers of divorce advice from a variety of professionals and prepares them for the decisions ahead. These concepts are covered in the first half of the book. The second half discusses practical financial planning advice that newly divorced individuals will need to consider, especially if their new "ex" was the financial manager in the marriage. As a financial counselor, I have always helped my clients look for solutions that will preserve their marriages, if at all possible, because divorce is never cheap. But when it is inevitable, this book will save them thousands of dollars as they reduce their dependence on expensive legal proceedings and make good financial choices that attorneys may never advise....

great book!
I bought this for my 6 year old. She loves to read and really loves to write stories. She can use this book, but it will also grow with her. She should benefit from this one for several years. In the meantime, we have a lot of fun as she's learning "what another word for___?"
Excellent for 2nd to 4th graders
This is the best young Thesaurus we have found. It's organized similar to "the big boys" and is easy to read and use.

Joan Sjuts Waldman's Flower Patterns provides patterns to applique, paint or embroider, and will prove inviting to quilters seeking flower foundations. An excellent guides, ideal for quilters at all levels of experience.
New Techniques to Quilt
A great new way to create a beautiful quilt if someone doesn't like to applique with templates. The results are truly different, but very easy to achieve. I would recommend this book to my friends. I just checked it out at the local library last night and am ready to purchase it.

Great!
Team mates of the author of this book helped my flyball team during our first flyball tournament. Their tips and suggestions helped us a great deal. I bought the book and it continued to help us learn even after the tournament.

A Gloriously, Uplifting Book
This book is simply one of the most beautiful books I have ever read. The photographs are breathtaking. Each line of the poem is complemented with Scripture. I was facing a very dark period in my life and this book gave me the light to see that indeed God is always with us.
What Wonderful Insight to Have...
Learning the meaning behind the poem shows a new light on it and goes to show that God does work in miraculous ways. Margaret Fishbone Powers' story is remarkable and she truly is deserving of the credit for the poem.

Excellent guide to implement precepts into daily life
Thich Nhat Hanh has updated the traditional Buddhist precepts in this book. His version goes beyond "do not kill," for example, to be mindful of that we might be killing inadvertently. He makes us aware of the broadness of the precepts and thus encourages us to be more mindful. If we are not mindful, we break the precepts. Therefore, he calls them Mindfulness Trainings. Thay's approach frames the precepts in a way that is helpful in our daily life. He makes them relevant.
Time Out of Mindfulness
In a world of deceit, excess, killing, lying and stealing, the present moment works with faith FOR A FUTURE TO BE POSSIBLE by enlightenment from the Buddha, the practice of love and understanding, and ever bigger and greater numbers of communities seeking wisdom, harmony and awareness. Art and meditation send energy into cell nutrition and nervous system health. Mindfulness teaches respect for all life, generosity, responsibility, careful speech and healthy diet for concentration and insight. Nobel Prize winner Thich Nhat Hanh's book is a beautifully reader-friendly steppingstone to THE GOOD HEART by the Fourteenth Dalai Lama, AWAKENING THE BUDDHIST HEART by Lama Surya Das, and LOVINGKINDNESS by Sharon Salzberg.

Oh, what a difference an eyebrow makes!
Like the first reviewer, I've loved this book for years. You can faithfully read fashion magazine for years and not learn what is in this book. Study it carefully and see what a subtle change here and there makes. It's really fun.
a celebration
