Encourages success on every page!
My daughter, who is just learning the idea of drawing, has been intimidated by not being "good enough" in her drawing. I read her this book a few times and then I showed her how to put tracing paper over the step-by-step drawings and trace the lines. The first time, she caught on to the idea and had a cute drawing. She was thrilled! Great for teaching the idea of combining shapes to make very day objects.

Author discusses ANNA IN CHAINS
ANNA IN CHAINS was published the week my mother died at the age of 90. The stories in ANNA IN CHAINS are based on my mother's life as it was reported to me during the years of her widowhood, her life in a retirement home, and, finally, the seven years she spent in a nursing home, paralyzed and on a feeding tube. I was able to show her the cover art of the book the day before she died. It displays a picture of an old woman's hands, in chains, playing the piano. My mother was pleased by this representation of her life and its main torment, that she was unable to play the piano in the later years of her life. Four of the stories were given dramatic readings on Jan 12 in the New Short Fiction Series at Beverly Hills Library; this took place less than two weeks after my mother's death: to hear her voice reproduced by the actors, to see her humor, her sharp and sometimes cynical view of the world, was to reveal to me that more was in the stories than I ever guessed at. A candid and highly intelligent account of personal growth
This memoir recounts the personal evolution of a highly accomplished professor of literature forced to confront a debilitating health crisis involving her back. As a result she questions the path she has taken in life, examining with relentless candor her own past. At the same time, her obsession with a nineteenth century literary figure, Constance Fenimore Woolson, leads her on an unpredictable and surprising course of speculation on matters of spirituality, feminism, and personal psychology. The author's intelligence, humor, determination, and sheer literary skill take this memoir well beyond the usual inspirational new age stuff, and the result is a fine meditation on the coming together of many forces that refocus and redefine her sense of self.

This is a great book!
Like the two books before it, this one kept me on the edge of my seat. I can't put the book down even though I've read it a million times.

This book is based on two brothers trying to save an old theater that has been there for years. It took Sean and Brian to solve it with the help of a retired actress.

I don't want to give you all the details, but this book is great.

These are really good books for kids. It looks at mysteries from a kids point of veiw. It's almost like Enclopedia Brown, but more grown.
