A well-written and enjoyable book!
: No one knew young Ella Fairmont was miss Prattle-the notorious London gossip columnist. The main object of Miss Prattle's attention was Patrick Beresford, Duke of Clare-the most sought-after and talked-about bachelor town. She quoted every indiscreet thing he said. Now a weeklong houseparty at Clare's country estate would yield a lot of spicy talk to write about the arrogant nobleman. Ella never suspected there was another side to Patrick. Quite unexpectedly she found herself falling in love with him. Now no one must ever find out that Ella wrote those horrid things. Though it was getting harder and harder to keep the secret...

The book captures your attention from the first page and doesn't let go until the last. The characters are strong and likeable. I really enjoyed this book and have read it many, many times. If you can get a copy of it, it would be well worth the effort.

Eucharist: God Among Us

A history of the Eucharist through art
This book depicts the history of sacrifice to God through works of art. It starts in the Old Testament sacrafice of the Levitical priests through the sacrifice of Jesus and the Mass. It includes images of paintings and artifacts demonstrating how sacrifice was performed, the importance of it and how it has transformed into the Eucharist. Along with the pictures, there are Biblical references giving a well-articulated apologetical explanation of the sacrifice of the Mass. A beautiful book.

I truly enjoy this book. It is perfect to help me with my active 4y.o. class. The best part about this book is that it takes the best ideas out of several good books and condenses them into a user friendly format. The book is divided into the fall months with thematic threads for each. Very useful.

*Exact Center* is Exactly Right
Joan Vail Thorne's *Exact Center of the Universe* hits on the funnybone and tugs at the heartstrings. The story is of the South and of Vada Love Powell and her son, Apple. Apple springs the news to Vada that he has secretly gotten married to Mary Ann Mele, "an Irish Italian Catholic girl whose mother drives a schoolbus," news Vada is none too pleased to hear. Set in the 1950's and 1960's, the plot centers around Vada and her friends Marybell Baxter and Enid Symonds, refined ladies of times past, as they come to terms with the changing world around them. The story plays well, and audiences love the humor of the aging "tree-house gang" as they deal with Apple's marriage, his sister-in-law Mary Lou's anthropological photographs of naked New Guinean tribes, and trouble in their beloved Episcopalian Women's Guild. As an actor currently playing Apple Powell onstage, I can strongly recommend this production for its humor, its wit, and its sentimentality.

Vocal Pedagogy Grad student
I'm currently studying with Joan Wall and these books are just incredible!! I've used these books in my own study and in my own teaching and they are a valuable resource! The set is divided up by book and by topic. Book 1 "Beginning the Process," Book 2 "Mastering the Fundamentals," Book 3 "Advancing the Technique," Book 4 "Becomming an Artist," and Book 5 "Managing Vocal Health." Each book contains both discussion and exercises on a given topic. It is very easy to read and is indexed very well. A must have for performers, teachers, and especially for students.

"Exploring Your Sexual Self"
If you're like me and haven't read a non-fiction book about sex since college, then you will love "Exploring Your Sexual Self" by Joan Mazza. On the other hand, if you have been reading other books about sex, I know you will find this guided journal superior in its approach to human sexuality. Mazza allows the reader to explore, without shame or confusion, a wide range of topics from fantasies and orientation to solitary sex and romance. Two of my favorite chapters are "Firsts" and "Lovemaps." The prompts or questions at the end of each chapter are refreshing and stimulating (no pun intended) and even if you choose not to journal a response for every question, all of them help you to acknowledge and formulate a greater self-awareness and healing about many sexual issues. In fact, this book is about more than just discovering yourself sexually -- it is ultimately about the understanding and integration of one of life's most powerful and natural forces into our whole selves as conscious and sensitive human beings. And as with Mazza's other published books and articles on various subjects, she writes with heart, humor and a compassionate eye.

The Fannie Farmer Junior Cookbook
I purchased this book for my 8.5 year old daughter who has enjoyed cooking at my side and has an interest in learning to cook. This cookbook provides a wonderful introduction to the world of culinary arts, beginning with an understanding of basic food ingredients, cooking and baking tools and terms and continues with advise on safety and menu planning.

The level is probably best suited to children from 10 - 14, however, with some guidance and supervision my 8 year old can prepare most of the recipes.

Recipes include all the basics from Vegetable soup to Chili to Banana Nut Bread, Brownies, Pies and Punch. All recipes inlcude an equipment list along with the ingredient list and clear, easy to follow step-by-step instructions with important safety tips like "wearing oven mits, remove the cookie sheet from the oven."

We've tried several of the recipes and have not been disappointed. This junior version of the classic compares well. I expect that my daughter will one day take this cookbook off to college.
