The sack of Bath: a record and an indictment

The truth hurts
Incredible telling of how thoughtless people, especially those in government, constantly seek to destroy beauty simplely because they can't be bothered to make the effort to understand anything more complex than a pet rock. This time the target is the historic beauty of Bath, England. I currently have a front row seat to the sack of Savannah, Georgia by the ignorant and the self-absorbed. Just more proof that if we don't learn history's lessons we are doomed to the whims of the clever and the determined. The pictures are fantastic!

Great Read!
If you`ve got to get a present for someone`s birthday, Christmas, whatever, they will really enjoy this book. ...this book delivers on every level. Even someone who has never been interested in the Games will find this book completely awinspiring. Definitely the number one piece of memorabilia for our go at the Winter Olympics.

The Sacristy Manual
If you are involved in any way with setting up the church for Mass and if you work in the Sacirsty this manual is a God send!

There is a good history of the sacristy, excellent directions and guidance for each celebration, and it is well prepared.

Sam Adams: Pioneer in Propaganda
Published in Paperback by Univ Microfilms Intl (April, 1994)
Author: John C. Miller
Amazon base price: $18.95
Used price: $19.00
Average review score:

The whole story - not all stars and stripes
In this book, John C. Miller gives an excellent account of a man who served the cause of revolution from England - but at a high cost. Miller paints a view of Adams and some of his contemporaries as nothing more than trouble makers with a genius for propaganda. He gives the most balanced view of these times of almost any account I have read of the American Revolution. This is not a book for the sqeamish. I don't think he takes a revisionist viewpoint, but he certainly gives cause to reconsider the motives of Sam Adams, Otis, and others. Any writer talented enough to do that, not obscure the facts, and keep you entertained deserves a thoughtful read. Highly recommend. Even though out of print - it really shouldn't be. It is a classic.

Excallent Interperation of Vygotsky's Work
I was fascinated by the information presented in this book, especially with the insight into children with serious learning and behavior problems. It gave me information that I was able to use with children I was working with who displayed the difficulties described in the book. What a tremendous help!

The Scribbler, Adams County Pioneer Memoirs

Amusing! Must have for family members/Adams County residents
Gladys is my great-grandmother. This is a great book and compilation of Andrew Morgans writings, hence, its title. I haven't picked up this book for a few years, but most memorable to me was his tale of the western men ordering wives! I believe it was a fictional poem (based on a thread of reality???) - but it is quite funny the way it is woven together.

I recommend this book highly for anyone from the Evan Morgan heritage; or anyone from Adams County, Washington.

Season of the Loon: One Man's Search for Wilderness in Increasingly Strange Times
Published in Paperback by North Star Press of St. Cloud, Inc. (October, 2001)
Author: David Adams
Amazon base price: $14.95
Average review score:

Season of the Loon is a GREAT READ!
I love this book. It has the right amount of humor in each chapter to balance the very deep meaniful words of the writer with regard to how he came to understand what "wilderness" really is. The chapters are great stories which will make you smile and feel. It reads beautifully, his writing is like poetry in its flow. It is not a nature freek book, it is about a boy who grows up on an island in the summers and goes from a person who races motor boats up and down the shore to a person who loses his place in the fishing world because he sees things differently. I loved it.

Secret Armies: The Full Story of S.A.S., Delta Force, & Spetsnaz

Used price: $30.92

an enlightning rewiew of covert operations by evil empires
Recommended reading for those looking for the truth regarding the undercover war between the East and West from WW2. Hostages, terror attacks, invasions, and counter insurgancy by Delta Force, SAS, and Spetsnaz are covered in fine detail; the overzealous tactics by the Reagan administration (involvement in Grenada, Contas, Vietnam, Iran/Iraq war, Angola), in achieving their selfish goals still leaves a sour taste in this reviewers mouth; yet again this book proves that the USA's world babysitter mentality, has caused more misery in the world than has stopped. An eye-opener, although with end of Cold War- rather dated commentary today.
