seriously killer
This book rocks. It tells you everything you need to know about booze and it's totally hilarious. There's even a 'nutrition' guide, insane blue laws and a great story about JFK boozing it up in the oval office. I'm giving it to all my friends this Christmas.

Boost your spirits
100 Proof celebrates the joy of drinking. I work in a liquor store in PA, where customers bombard me with questions about wine and spirits everyday. This book taught me a few things that I never knew. 100 Proof is filled with fun facts from where the Star Spangled Banner was really derived from to what Christian Slater's BAC was when he was arrested. I found this book very informational and extremely entertaining at the same time. My attention was turned to this book from the magazine Maxim, and I thought, well, if it's in Maxim, it must be good. I'm extremely happy with my purchase with this book, and with Amazon.com, I didn't need to make a trip to the store looking through aisles to find it. I definately would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys having just a drink after dinner to someone that parties hard all night long.

A MUST READ!
This book is hysterical and full of juicy tidbits of drinking lore. Every drunk should own it!

become part of the literati
Anyone who has ever made roadtrip just to see a band must read this book. The writing is poetic without being confusing or sappy or any other negative connotation that sometimes implies. Once you read this book you will give it to someone else to read just so you both can sit there saying how good it is. The structure and typesetting of the book is great also. It is as visually aesthetic as it is mentally and emotionally. An incredible book that you won't want to put down. Then you'll wish you had written it.

indie rock boy goes cross country and tells his tales
this was a lovely little book. an online friend told me the premise of the book and based on that alone i ordered a copy. it took me awhile before i got into it, but once i was into it, there was no turning back.

softspoken indie rock boy travels and writes of his tales. as well as stories of back home. making a movie with friends. just a great little book.

Captures gen xer's lives in small capsules
Each chapter seems to have taken a different portion of my life and filled it in with his own experiences. From going to see bands and driving all night to get there, to his views on classic rock, and the verbally discribed cinematography of the last chapter, Voith paints a picture of a jaded, skeptical generation steeped in heartache and tempered with a desire for love and rock and roll.

Great Book
Wow! This book has it all! Love, suspense, compassion, mystery, and romance. A must read power packed book with a surprising ending. The characters seem real to life. It was like I realy knew them. The author did an excellent job of character description as well as providing background information to help the reader understand the psyche of the characters. I didn't want the story to end. I found myself wondering what the characters were doing and thinking after the book ended. The book also made me think about my own present relationship. I realized I had some choices of my own to make. This is a powerful book and definitely a must read.

"Two Thumbs Up"
As a mature reader, I easily recognize quality. This tale of "love, deceit, and passion" keeps its reader on the edge. Ja Adams executed what I believe to be the true story of so many young women attempting to find meaningful relationships. This book is an easy read with a mind boggling plot. The characters are very personable and I was able to compare and contrast them with people I knew while in college. This is a great novel, and hats off to the author!

Captivating!
Once I picked up this novel I was unable to set it down! The authors use of description, and foreshadowing was wonderful. I was able to see the growth of the characters. My interest was kept as a result of the characters' being unpredictable with a hint of "I know someone like that". This book allowed me to apprectiate the relationships I have been in, and really stresses the importance of family, and the meaning of a true friend. Without hesitation, please treat yourself to the world of Ja Adams!

Clear and concise, good examples, not too heavy
This book was used in my Junior-level Advanced Data Structures and Algorithms course. This was the first semester that we used this book and people seemed to like it. Apparently, the old textbook for my class had too much code and not enough explaination. The author presents most of the algorithms in pseudo-code as apposed to a full implementation, but the code exaples are plentiful.

This book will get you learning advanced topics in data structures and algorithms in no time. I learned a lot from this book, and read the first 10 chapters. The scope of topics discussed is large and is presented in top-down fashion. There were even several topic areas that we didn't have time to spend on, like self-organizing lists, networks, self-balancing trees, data compression, and garbage collection.

I was tempted to only give 4 stars in this review because there are a painful number of typos/errors in this text. I was usually able to see beyond the errors, but it made it more difficult than it should have been. A new edition should seriously address this.

A full grasp of C++ is necessary to read through this book, but that should be given when studying general data structures and algorithms. A C++ reference will be very helpful when doing programming assignments because this is not a book on the language.

This book will probably always be on my shelf. Even though all of the code is in C++, which is not eternal, it does not rely heavily on the language. Most of the algorithms are given in pseudo-code, and the data structures are developed independent of the laugage choice. I still plan on reading the sections that we skipped in class. I would recommend this text to any computer science student.

Kept it simple & straight forward -One of the best DSA books
Best book on data structure algorithms. Even helpful for Java developers who worked on C++ long time ago(like me!).
- examples are to the point
- not complex
- detailed description based on examples of how the alg works
-the format of presenting examples are good.

Altogether one of the best books for data structures and algorithms.

A book for the non-reader.
If anyone else out there is like me they find data structures to be some major boring $hit. I have to say that I have read very little of this book but have understood the major concepts from the code examples alone. Much of the code I have been able to use directly as it is or with only slight modification for my Data Structures class assignments. I am sure that the text is very good as well from all of the other reviews but between the well commented code, and the diagrams I feel that I am learning data structures quite thoroughly.

A CoC supplement that kicks ... and takes names...
Well worth the seemingly hefty price. In addition to containing source material that benefits *any* modern-day game (e.g. details on international law-enforcement agencies), it includes expansions on things alluded to in the main Delta Green book, such as the Army of the Third Eye, and new icky horrors like the Skoptsi.

There is also wonderful information on ghoul society and on the "King in Yellow"/Hastur mythos, concluding with "Night Floors," which is in my opinion one of the best damn adventures ever written.

An essential supplement for Call of Cthulhu!
If you already have Delta Green, Countdown should be your next purchase (if you don't have Delta Green, BUY IT!!!). Countdown adds write-ups for PISCES (Britain), GRU SV-8 (Russia), The Skoptsi, The Outlook Group, Phenomen-X, Keepers of the Faith (Ghouls), and a new look at The Hastur Mythos. Add rules for the Gift (Psychic Powers) and international templates from all over the world and you have a book that would be cheap at twice the price!!

Pagan Publishing has done it again!!!

Just what I wanted
After getting and reading the Delta Green book, I was very impressed, but left wanting more. The main DG book has a lot of detail, but it's scope is a bit limited - the main adversaries available are MJ-12, the Karotechia, the Fate, the Mi-Go, and that's about it. There is a lot of terrific, well-researched info on these four, but I wanted more options. More options is what Countdown provides. The bulk of the large book is taken up by thorough, detailed descriptions of more organizations, much like the ones in the original book. These add a wealth of additional details and possibilities to the game world. If you're going to run a DG game, you definitely want to have this book!

Absolute magic!
Miriam Cohen's stories bubble with the energy of children. They address the real stuff that's on kid's minds without being preachy or moralistic or stodgy. Eddy's Dream reminds me of the "Jim" series of books that are now classics and in every school library across the country. What's so amazing about this book is it's fresh approach: using Adam Cohen's intimate photographs insead of illustrations. Together, Miriam and Adam Cohen give us a vivid story of how kids interact and what they dream of.

It's a great story for parents to read and for kids to listen to (or read themselves). Best of all, my seven year old son picked it over and over as the book we'd read together at reading time.

You'll love it! And so will your child!

EDDY'S DREAM IS A DREAM BOOK
I just had the opportunity to see this book up close, and it's just amazing. I was so moved that these kids used their imaginations to transport a boy mired in sadness to a dream trip to his beloved grandma in Puerto Rico. I just loved Miriam Cohen's ability to lift the spirits of both children and the adults who read to and with them with this book.

Simply special!
It isn't often you get a book these days with black and white photographs. Somehow I think we think kids won't look at them, but what a mistake! This book is simply special. There's room in the text and pictures for the reader to find her/his own magic. And that's what it's all about isn't it. Can't imagine a kid not getting caught up. Thank you Miram and Adam Cohen!

A visual, exquisite journey
Adam Kufeld's book on flowers is a pure delight. It is a fantasy book in the truest sense -- it allows your imagination to soar as these beautiful photographs take you from the depths of the sea to the farthest reaches of outer space, all in the limitless creation of your mind's eye. Kufeld's photographic vision turns flowers into abstract paintings, into fantastic creatures, into images so sensual that they should be viewed in the privacy of one's boudoir! Kufeld leads us into the delicate private sanctum of the heart of the flower, revealing the intricate gloriously rich world that is so easily overlooked in our hurried lives. What a delicious treat!

Flowers: Portraits of Intimacy
Stunning!!! I have just poured over my copy of this book and am amazed by the depth, color and sumptuousness of these photographs. Flowers will never look the same after you see this book. Mr. Kufeld has explored the inner sanctum of one of nature's greatest wonders as though it were uncharted territory. His gentle touch and perceptive eye have rendered the universe hiding behind each petal like a magical netherworld.

The Poetry of Flowers
The images in Flowers: Portraits of Intimacy, by Adam Kufeld, are reminiscent of Georgia O'Keeffe's erotic portraits of flowers, yet each one is wholly original. Kufeld brings details--a pistil, stamen, or ring of petals--into sharp focus, letting the background become softly blurred. The result of this selective emphasis is the creation of foreground and distances, so that each orchid, lily, daisy, and rose becomes a world unto itself, a beautiful, intoxicating world that the viewer longs to enter. Kufeld has captured the poetry of flowers--starbursts, silvery cascades, lips, fingers, and dazzling flesh. This is not photojournalism or scientific photography: it is exquisite art.

Reads like a fictional crime novel, but it's TRUE!
I can't count how many times I've watched "The Thin Blue Line" and how many times I've read this book. Like everything else I become interested in, I became OBSESSED with the Randall Adams case and wanted to know everything about it. Randall Dale Adams is - in my opinion - a living hero; I hope to meet him someday and shake his hand.

Adams' memoir (1976-1989) reads like a fictional suspense novel... it's hard to believe, but it's true! The book includes a lot of things that viewers of Errol Morris's documentary haven't seen... we see how improperly biased Judge Metcalf was, as he drives from the courthouse parking lot in the same car as the prosecutors, laughing at Adams' family as he passes them! That's appalling.

I highly recommend both this book and the documentary film "The Thin Blue Line."

Other reviewers have expressed curiousity about Randall's life after prison. Here's what I know:
At first, he was hounded by the press; they followed him everywhere. He traveled the college circuit, getting paid for telling his story. He co-wrote this book, and went on a publicity tour to support it (which took him, briefly, back to Texas). Eventually things quieted down and Randall tried to lead a normal life; he got a factory job in his native Ohio and had a brief marriage. Then a friend encouraged him to speak out against the death penalty, and he began again to publicly oppose capital punishment. During another trip to Texas to support a moratorium on the death penalty, he met an activist named Jill. Three weeks later, he moved from Ohio to (gulp!) Texas to be with her. They're now married and speaking out against the death penalty together...

An Amazing True Story
Passing through a law and order phase in my reading life I came across Adams vs. Texas and have to say it was amazing. Adams vs. Texas is the story of a semi-drifter who, a victim of circumstances, was charged with the murder he didn't do of a man he didn't know and as a result comes up against the State of Texas as a murderer and faces death in the electric chair. His contact with investigators, lawyers, judges, wardens, other convicts, the press, a painfully deluded prosecutor, and the real criminal of the case are combined to make a powerfully compelling story, spanning over twelve years of trial, imprisonment, hardship and finally; triumph. In the midst of this ugly line of events Adams believes that God has him where he is for a purpose and in the end that is true, but it's sad one man had to make such a sacrifice and wonderful that he was able to.
The fact that the events in this book really happened to a man is incredible, but they are presented in such and honest, down-to-earth manner that makes it a real tribute to the man who both went through this experience and survived, both physically and mentally to tell his story. Wherever you are, Randall Dale Adams, I'm sorry they did that to you and you deserve all the happiness in the world. As for the rest of you--go read Adams vs. Texas and remember another, much larger, sacrifice made for you over 2,000 years ago and accept and cherish His gift to you: Life--forever

A Great Story and I'm Glad It Had A Happy Ending
This is an extremely interesting book, it's all the narrative background behind the documentary film "The Thin Blue Line." I hope Adams is doing okay now. I'm certainly glad the truth was brought out, and that he was properly cleared and freed.

One point I found most interesting was Adams' sideline exploration of the fact that someone who opposes the death penalty cannot be excluded (for that reason) from the jury in a capital murder case. It seems that juries are supposed to be representative of society, and a significant portion of society DOES oppose the death penalty -- thus it is appropriate for people who think that way to be allowed to serve on a death penalty jury.

ONLY THE BEST ON THE MARKET
I raised my daughter by this book, and then gave it away to a young father who has raised his son on it. I am an Infant/Toddler teacher and am familiar with very very many many books for parents ... and as far as I am concerned this is only the best book of its kind on the market for fathers.

Excellent book for first time or even experienced fathers
This book is great! It covers the kids, the wives, the boys, and the girls. It has great ideas, and answers all those Dad questions that you never want to ask your wife.

Great ideas!
I had a copy of The Mother's Almanac when my kids were little (twenty years ago!) and used it frequently. I purchased several copies of The Father's Almanac during the 1980s as gifts. I recently bought a copy as a gift for a young man I work with. The ideas are still great! My only suggestion would be that the next time they revise the book - they revise the photos!
