Why the Possum's Tale is Bare?
I am an 8th grade teacher and have used Why the Possum's Tale is Bare in my classroom for a number of years. It is a collection of folk tales from all over the country, native American, African American, etc. The tales are short, entertaining, and wonderful for reading when you have a few extra minutes at the end of a class. I highly recommend it to teachers or parents as a read aloud.

Wildflowers of the Southern Appalachians: How to Photograph and Identify Them

Wildflower photos sets new standard for genre
Adams and Casstevens combine top-notch botanical briefs for each of the featured species with superb photographs. The botanical data is sufficient for appropriate identification and interesting notes about the plants are plentiful. The authors are commended for recognizing the importance of the composition of the photographs. They are not only useful for identification purposes, they are each masterpieces of photographic art. Adams teaches how to create similar photographs. Clearly this book was not just thrown together, but was carefully crafted by geniuses.

An extremely helpful book to read. Highly recommended!
I am a relatively new users to Windows 98 after upgrading earlier in the year from Win 95.

I hadn't really discovered many of the new features that Win 98 had to offer and this book really showed me what could be done, and more importantly how it could be done.

The contents of the book in well stepped out and is written in plain English which makes it easier to read and enjoyable. I had a great time finding out so many new things about Win 98.

If you are interested in this book, one word of advice is that Amazon.com has got the wrong picture of the books cover. You are looking for a much more colorful cover.

Thanks Mr Vujic and others.

Excellent primer on Winnicott
Renowned, revered, kind-hearted D.W. Winnicott (1896-1971) was a pediatrician and then a child analyst whose contributions to theories of child development and psychology (mothering, love, language, attachment, dependency, anxiety and many other topics) were enormous. Phillips' book illuminates Winnicott's body of work and includes a chronology. The tone is respectful and insightful and Phillips' knack for skillful explanation and analysis is here. But he knows Winnicott's work -- and life -- by heart, and has written extensively on him elsewhere, and occasionally in this work he meshes the two -- biography and work -- so seamlessly that I wished for more. As an intro to Winnicott's ideas, this is first-rate.

the cantankerous founder in his own words
A fascinating portrait of a brilliant and often misunderstood man. De Mooy has selected, edited, and assembled the best passages from Adams' writings with lapidary skill. Adams held strong opinions on everything from patriotism and party politics to the social skills of New Yorkers -- and wasn't shy about expressing them. Anyone who enjoyed David McCullough's recent Pulitzer-winning biography, or Joseph Ellis's "Founding Brothers," will find this book an invaluable companion. Or for those encountering Adams for the first time, there could scarcely be a better introduction.

Superb Poetry
This is a marvelous collection of poetry. It earns my highest recommendation. Zagajewski is one of the more interesting poets on the scene today.

This collection opens with "To See": "I had to see, and not to just know, to see clearly the sight and fires of a single world...my brethren in the shallow sand; the earth still turns above you...."

Other lovely poems are: "Dead Sparrow," "Speak Softly," "December," "Death of a Pianist," "Twenty Five Years," "The World's Prose," "Treatise on Emptiness," Try to Praise a Mutilated World," and "The Creation of the World."

Z's verse is economic and spare. His word craft creates deep images that are world-conscious, and they offer us a phenomenal awareness of ourselves. A good poet begins in metaphysical wonderment, and that is fulfilled here.

It seems that Z. looks past our blinking lids and bloodshot eyes to witness the barren cavity in which the human soul resides. And when that examination is found wanting in the discovery of spiritual emptiness, we look to the world and see ragged refugees on detoured paths to nowhere.

I also recommend: R. Hass, B. Collins, Z. Herbert, C. Milosz, R. Jeffers, S. Heaney, A. Rich, and W. Szymborska.

High approval on the Wizard of Oz
I joined Dorthy on her way to the wizard thinking it was going to be like the movie with Judy Garland, but there were different surprises such as a change of color of slippers and various tasks that had to be done. The book also describes the various lands and people in Oz that the moive didn't even touch upon.
Some things remained the same like the scarcrow, tinman and lion. The witch is still harasses Dorthy as she makes her way to the wizard.
The book gives a histoy about the scarcrow, tinman and lion and tells why they are the way they are.

I give the book five stars!

If you're a Wizard of Oz fan or just like to read, it's a great book to read. I could'nt put it down!!!!

IT REALLY WORKS!!!
What this book promised to do from the advertisement I read was to make my golf swing easier, show me how to hit the ball straighter and further, and thus to help me SCORE BETTER. With all of its illustrated instructions what I found was that I was hitting the ball better and scoring better almost immediately. And without fighting so hard - what I call using so much strength - to hit the ball. For this reason I've highly reccommend this book to all of my friends, even as I now reccommend it every woman golfer. Try it, and you will hit the ball further. You will score better. And you will have more fun. NOW MY HUSBAND EVEN ENJOYS PLAYING WITH ME!!!
