Marilynn Fournet is one of my second cousins. This book evoked so much emotion. I could see it in the eyes of my family as they read. It is beautifully written and very real.

I have no Cajun or even Southern accent. My father met my mother in Louisiana and stole her to the North because he found the heat oppressive. As such, I was raised a "Yankee". Yet, half my blood rings true Louisiana-French, back to among the earliest Acadian settlers in the early 1600's.

Marilynn Fournet Adams captures the essence of growing up in that Louisiana-French heritage and carries me back to the culture and traditions of times gone by. In the scheme of the history of the earth, it does not seem that long; however, reading the poetry and viewing the images in this book reminds us of something that we have lost in modern culture. Of a simpler time, ripe with golden virtues.

As a historical and genealogical author related to the region myself, I admire the pure artistry of the book. Each page has a timeless photo of growing up in southwest Louisiana. Opposite that page is a poem that explains the photo and provides insights into the Acadiana experience. In between, a translucent page has an accest drawing, which provides a dream-like interpretation to the photo.

If you, like I, are of this lineage, enjoy the book as a window into your past. Otherwise, this culture is very interesting and most certainly will picque the curiosity of any reader. My hearty recommendations to this worthwhile book!

It brought back so many memories of my own childhood in Lafayette, Louisiana. My favorite, The Orchard, I cried for them. A wonderful journey into yesteryear. If only we could recapture those times. I could go on and on - my own grandmother with her hands in the pockets of her apron always humming the same, unnamed, unknown, tune. I'm looking forward to the second book.

For me, this is a very comforting and healing book. The little girl reminds me so much of myself - and her process is so familiar to me and I'm sure many who are healing from abuse and have disassociated during the process. The one thing I would mention is that it startled me a little that this book suggests integration may be necessary - while I know some people who feel that it's not necessary or even desirable for them personally.

My Psychiatrist recommended this book to me and let me read his copy of it at the end of one of our sessions. At first I wondered what his motives were in suggesting I read a children's book, but after the first page I knew exactly why. The book was like a divine inspiration to me, helping me to struggle on and strive for the full integration of my "parts." As a child, I had numerous imaginary friends much like the friends who join the little girl during her journey through the woods. Some of them later became extensions of my self, and eventually, integral parts of who I am. I used to just want them to go away and leave me alone. After reading this book, though, I realize that I need them just as much as they need me and one day we'll all become one again. That was what I once feared, but now I know it's what we all truly want.

I was thoroughly touched by both books and was moved even more into a healing place from which I found strength to deal with my own dragons and all the help from inside to work together through a healing journey. I found that it was ok to have dragons and if one can work together you can get through anything. The books also taught me about a great place that you can go to inside where everything is calm and beautiful and safe where there is blue light, and you can even ride on a dolphin and find lightness of heart while dealing with the most troublesome areas of my life. I found you can create in your mind that great place to go to when things hurt so much, a place all your own. Found that even the most meanest dragons can be beautiful swans. These books helped me be ok with the healing journey I must face in order to become the person I want to be and that it's ok to be scared and confused and sad. I found that I can have fun and have feelings that are good and work on other issues at the same time and rely on my inner strengths to get through even the most troublesome times and find healing at last. The nice thing about these books is how well written they are and easy to understand and to be ok with what you must deal with. Yes while going through the forest there are many dangerous animals and yet you can find strength in the forest as well and beauty. These books helped me to see that and to go through this journey although painful and yet very calming while working together to all become beautiful swans and then you find you all were beautiful swans all along, some needed help to see it that way. The illustrations in these books are so colorful and meaningful.

When I first read this book many years ago, I fell in love with John Adams. Stone brought to life not only this most honorable of our founding fathers, and his beloved wife Abigail, but other "characters" of our nation's revolutionary history such as Samuel Adams, a rabble-rouser who was afraid to ride horses. So many intimate details of John and Abigails's life together were brought to this novel that you feel as though you know and love them both. You can't go wrong with this one.

"Those Who Love" got me hooked on the saga of John and Abigail Adams. Thiers was a true love match that endured through joy and pain, triumph and trajedy. Stone's sprawling novel follows the pair from thier spirited first meeting, through the hellish American Revolution, and into the turbulent White House years. A fantastic read.

For Those Who Love was a timeless love story that relates to American history. When you read this story, you will not be able to put it down. It tells you about historical events that happened in Boston during Abigail's life and how our country was formed. It was a beautiful story that a person who likes romantic novels could read, or one that a person interested in history could read. I personally fell in love with the Adams'.

After working this past summer in the Whitney Museum of American Art in NYC and being there for the opening of the Thiebaud show, I can certainly say that I have become filled with a nostalgic longing and a love for both Thiebaud's art as well as the manner in which he comports himself as an artist and as a person. I could have received no better gift from my supervisor at the end of my summer employment than this beautiful and gentle book. Though certainly there is nothing like looking at the works of art themselves, this book was fully capable of stirring my memory...much the same way as Thiebaud's art itself had a few weeks prior. This book is a highly treasured part of my collection of art books...truly a high point of my books in general, and I would highly recommend it to those well versed in the works of this gentleman as well as those who have not yet had the pleasure of his honest and warm friendship. ~greg

I purchased this book right after walking through the Thiebaud retrospective at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. I usually don't like to buy books after I've seen the work firsthand as the color never compares with the paintings I had just seen. In this case, though, I was impressed with the reproduction color. As an artist I get to use this book to study how Thiebaud makes his works "sparkle" by painting one color next to another.

After listening to this series and applying what I've learned I have a few reasons why master copywriter and business consultant Drew Eric Whitman selected the title.

Maybe it relates to the fact that I would have paid $50,000 to him and the 10 other experts that have literally super-charged my business and increased profits. And at that price, it would have been a steal.

Or maybe the $50,000 references what average business owners can add to their annual profits after listening. I know in my case, $50,000 would be a low estimate for the increase in business I expect over the course of the next year as a direct result of listening to this course.

Whatever the reasoning behind the title, in my opinion this is material that every person running or thinking of starting a business should own. It delivers essential business and marketing information (some of which I've never heard before but works almost like magic), and it spoon feeds it to you in such a way that you not only completely understand it, but you're excited and can't wait to start applying it to your business immediately.

I've had many nights where I've only grabbed a few eyefuls of sleep since owning this. But I want to thank Drew Eric for giving me the information and motivation to get in and do something that's responsible for literally putting more money in my pocket while making it fun.

I confess to buying too many business tapes. I am also too often disappointed by the quality of the production as well the content.

I have read Prodigal Journey, by Linda Paulson Adams, three times now, and enjoy it more each time I read it. The pace is fast, and the story is gripping. This is one book you may want to stay up all night to read.

I read Prodical Journey last year. It is great. The story moves along at a fast pace. I was left wanting more. I can't wait for the sequel to come out.

This book is so great.
It's involved and inruiging and you find yourself wanting more.

"Saving Adam" by L. Smith is one evening's read that will stay with you. Told primarily from the viewpoint of a woman for whom perseverance and faith are bywords, I was inspired to read it through to the end in one sitting.

A tad short on some of the writing skills we are accustomed to finding in memoirs, this story works for me. It is told with humor, the language is spare and the protagonist is a woman in charge of her own destiny. It also does not preach. It simply tells the story of a woman who loves and, in doing so, affects the lives of those around her.

One of the other reviewers mentioned that this book should be turned into a movie. Darn right! The central character is any novelist's or screenwriter's dream.

"Saving Adam" is, in short, a poem to the universe without a single poetic phrase between its covers.

Saving Adam was a book that can be enjoyed for the purity of human love it provides for the reader. When one is looking for the "perfect" family situation to put a child into, they don't always find what is considered "normal" for everyone. Adam thrived because he was loved, accepted and given the opportunity to grow with his family. Biology doesn't insure that a child will be loved and taken proper care of. I laughed, I cried, I loved every word of Adam's story. It is sad only that he has to wait to be reunited with his Mom in Heaven. They had such little time together, but it was quality. Who could ask for more from a parent/child relationship? I recommend this book to anyone that needs to be reminded how lucky we are to have the loving families that we do and to never take advantage of the love we are given so freely by our families.

If you liked "The Christmas Box", you'll LOVE "Saving Adam"! If you were unimpressed with "The Christmas Box", you'll be VERY impressed with "Saving Adam"! It also contains elements comparable to "A Child Called 'It'" by Dave Pelzer and the "Chicken Soup for the Soul" series. I've never before seen a book written so masterfully as to contain no places, no dates, no times, no names (other than "Adam") and done successfully. It's hard to tell whether this story is about the boy or the mother. What is clear is that one miracle after another adds up to one miraculous, true story that no one should do without! This book should be mandatory reading for anyone who works with children!

I bought this book as research into the legal aspects of Sport that will help my career. It really opened my eyes to the liability and legal aspects which plague the sports marketplace. I am out of college but as a text book this is a very eye openning text, and give you a view of the sports business world from an insiders point of view.

This text is a real good investment...

Highly recommend this to all law schools, agents and anyone interested in Sports Law.

The sports world is such a mystery and this book helps me understand it. Most books start out with a warm up of hey this is the law and blah,blah,blah...this books says hello want to become a sports agent right in the first chapter. I have to say this book does not intimidate me as a reader it is more of a guide to sports and the law. A must buy if you are even thinking about becoming a sports agent or sports paralegal.

The Horseclans series will hopefully live on as the classic extended trilogy. In all my reading over the years of extended trilogies, including Abbey, Hubbard, Anthony and Pournelle, has a writer been able to give such a rich tightly woven narrative. He has history that is consistent, and a timeline that moves forward and keeps the reader hooked.

I too wished that the story lines had been cleaned up, but alas, Mr. Adams has allegedly passed on. I say allegedly because I have not been able to find any definitive information. The most probable reason for no future releases or reprints is probably due to probate or rights of the descendents.

I have the complete set of the Horseclans series. I was very dissapointed that it just ended with several plots left hanging. I have frequently checked book stores and the Internet for new releases. I have not even been able to find the fan sites that were up several years ago. The author actualy lived less than an hour from my home town. Of course I didn't know it then or could drive anyway.

It seens if their are only 18 books in the set + the one's not numbered I have the hole set. I injoyed reading the Houseclans, it was hard to put the books down. Wish there was more.

The last 2-3 Adam`s Dilbert collections were lackin on edge somewhat. Not that you can ever go wrong by acquring a Dilbert comic but Adams has accustomed his readers to a very high niveau of humor.
"When body language goes bad" is a tremendous return to top form for the Dilbert creator.
New and very welcome twists take place as Dilbert gets downsized, the Pointy Haired Boss becomes an engineer (even if it is for just a day), Wally takes Asok under his wings to teach him his "deepest secrets" on how to avoid work, Dilbert`s mother adopts an even more caustic attitude than wè had seen her up to now, and of course Alice is as usual the aggro force of the corporate corridors.
Wally keeps stealing the show as usual and the Head of Human resources (or "livestock") comes up with new and improved ways to torture the already overtortured souls of the employees.

On a downside, as has been the case with almost all of Adams`last albums Dogbert and especially Ratbert (possibly the 2nd cultest character of the series) seem to have taken second stage.`
This is bizzare on one hand but understandable on the other as most of the Dilbert characters have a strong fan base but it`s also a fact that Dogbert is one of the driving forces of the comic. As for Ratbert, yes, it can be a personal preference thingie.
It`s probably getting boring to say "a must buy" for each new Dilbert publication, but, as the faithful know, it`s an addiction.

Okay so I love this sort of thing, but this is up to his best and will make perfect gifts for everyone I know with a bithday this year.
