"A Pioneer of Male Nude Photography"
It's finally here, a hardcover, oversized book of Roy Dean's male nude photography. I remember in the 1970's collecting his photography in magazines, paperback books, and other sources. His work has always fascinated me because he only worked in color photography, while other photographers were producing male nude images in black & white only. He is truly a master in color prints. In this new book you're seeing his best shots of the most young and handsome, and very muscular (as in big) men that he ever produced. Although I have seen most of these men before, being an avid collector of his work, its nice to have them all collected here in this big book. As for the collector who is not familiar with Roy's photography this is a perfect book to start with. All the models are nude, large in many ways and I do believe many are former Colt Studio models.

Roy Dean started his career in the theatre and appeared in many Broadway productions. He also appeared in many films, including "My Fair Lady", "King Rat", "Music Man" and "Sextet." Arriving in New York in the 1950's he acted his way onto Broadway, and later became a photographer of male nudes, one of the first, a pioneer in this field.

Did I really enjoy this book? Yes. Is it worth having in my collection? Yes. The only fault I might find with this book is that some of the color male nude images are a little blurry, but this is probably due to the period these photos were taken, the 60's & 70's and the transfer to this large book size. However, that's a very minor problem, most of the images are crystal clear and beautiful. Roy Dean's photography will always share a special place in my collection. He's a very special photographer, a pioneer of our time, and a very different and original photographer!

Deserves to be more widely read
I found this an absorbing personal account of a thoughtful layman's encounter with prostate cancer. At age 78, with a PSA of 14 and a Gleason of 6, Neider choose treatment by external beam radiation. He describes this experience, which began in 1993, in absorbing daily detail. Neider is curious but not contentious. He questions his own doctors and technicians, and he listens to other patients. He patiently records not only his own thoughts but the shared details of others' encounters with cancer.
Two years later his radiation oncologist pronounces him cured -- with a PSA of 3.4. The book closes on this hopeful note in 1995. Six years later the book is published and the author is dead (of cancer?). That's the book's weakness; it closes with the story well begun but only partly told.

Clear instructions about electronic resumes and networking.
Nice how-to material on the electronic resume, content and formatting. Could profit from including analysis of effectiveness of resume-posting on job sites. If you are interested email me. I am collecting Web job hunting resources available for WI jobs, and found a couple of good references in this book. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to creat an electronic resume.

Read this to get a more balanced view of John Adams
This book came out in 1930 but I found it interesting to read. David McCullough in his bio of John Adams is one has to admit pretty hagiographical, as is Page Smith. I agree with both of those biographers, but I found it of interest to read this book which is less admiring of John Adams, though it says a lot of good things about John Adams, and his descendants.

Good compilation of resumes
The Adams Resume Almanac is a pretty decent compilation of resumes and cover letters. But it is only a compilation. This book, as the cover states, has over 600 resumes and 50 cover letters. If you already know how to write a resume and cover letter and you are just looking for ideas or situations that may apply to your current situation, you may be able to get ideas from the work of others. However, there is no exhaustive review of resume writing strategies as mentioned in the synopsis. Approximately 5 pages of this book are spent on writing your resume. The remainder of the book contains numerous examples of other peoples resumes. I do like this book. However, I would not recommend it as your sole book on resumes and cover letters. It is mainly a good companion book.

High Impact Resumes and Letters, by Ronald L. Krannich and Winning Cover Letters, by Robin Ryan, are two books that I would highly recommend. The former is an in depth book on the entire job search process. And the latter is an excellent book concentrating on various letters, cover letters in general. These two books, in conjunction with The Adams Resume Almanac, will definitely assist you in writing a powerful resume and cover letter that will be noticed by employers.

Good book for learning both Simplified and Traditional Text
Over all, for me this was quite a good and suitable book for furthering my Chinese studies. This was one of the very few Chinese text books I found which had exact text in both traditional and simplified characters. It's perfect for people like me - 2nd generation Chinese-Canadian, with good speaking ability and so-so reading ability, who goes to both China and Taiwan on business extensively. Having and advanced level lessons with both traditional and simplified characters is the most efficient way for me to improve my reading skills. If you are in the same boat as me then you'll find this book useful.

Other comments :
- English translation of each lesson is also a useful feature.
- The binding is flimsy and cheap. After extensive use, my book fell apart and I had to tape it together. Hopefully the publisher can upgrade the binding in the next round of printing.
