Truth Applied: A "Must Have" for Preachers
In Truth Applied, Dr. Jay E. Adams takes the reader through the principles outlined in Scripture for applying truth to life. The author contends that too often preaching has become dry and useless to the listener, and gives the impression that the Bible has no place in daily living. Here Dr. Adams takes the preacher to Biblical principles for applying the Scriptures to the hearts and lives of believers in the Church. If your preaching has become dry or application is a struggle for you as you preach, this book needs to be a part of your library.

Amazing history
After taking an amazing class with Dr. Jordan, who is just as good of a teacher as he is a writer, I decided to take a look at his well-known book. It is truly one of the great pieces of historical writing I have read, as he is able to pull together a complete story based upon references from a single document. While he's talking about this single event, he gives great insight into the mind of an historian that will inspire any student of history into delving deeper into practically any subject.

A beautiful children's book
This is one of the best books my five year old daughter and I have ever read. We first got it out of the library, but I just ordered it because it's a book I know we'll re-read hundreds of times. Everybody knows the Grimm's story: twelve princesses escape every night to go dancing. Their father, the king, doesn't know where they go, only that that in the morning their dancing shoes are in tatters. He offers the hand of one of his daughers in marriage to any suitor who can discover their secrets. Many try, and finally one succeeds. There are two wonderful things about this version. One is that it's clear at the end of the book that the daughter who is chosen doesn't marry the man who figured out their secret. She chooses him „ and plans to keep right on dancing after she gets married! The second great thing about this book is the illustrations, which are so beautiful, you just want to look at them again and again. More important, the princesses are all beautiful, but in exotic and interesting ways. No one size fits all Disneyesque beauties here. Each face is unique. One even wears glasses! Terrific book.

Masterpiece
An outstanding portrayal of the immigrants' dilemmas. But the immigrants in "Two Cities" have nothing to do with the United States. They are exiled from Lvov, an ancient Polish town incorporated to the Soviet Union as a result of World War II, and sent to the post-German city of Gliwice in southern Poland. Everything that comes from Lvov or reminds them of Lvov is sacred while everything else is worthless. A child growing in the dual world of imaginary Lvov and real Gliwice has trouble finding his identity. He returns to the past, examines and questions the drama of the war, and struggles to reconcile his life with the semi-imaginative world that surrounds him. Two Cities as well as other short stories included in this book are true masterpieces but must be read with some minimum background on post-war Poland.

The pros and cons of being an expatriate
I would highly recommend this book to anyone considering taking an assignment with a US-based country outside of the USA. I was assigned as an expatriate for 3 years in Germany. I wish I had read this boook. Maybe I could have minimized some of the culture shock especially for my family.

Chapters 1 and 2 provide excellent food for thought when deciding whether to accept the position. There are many pros and also many cons. Chapters 3 thru 11 provide outstanding recommendations for solutions to many of challenges of living in another culture.

Chapter 12 should be read before taking an overseas assignment as well as when nearing the end of assignment. Returning to the USA, especially professionally, is not easy. This chapter has some good advice on networking while assigned overseas.

Chapter 13 and 14 are also essential reading before accepting an assignment.

The investment in purchasing the book is sound. It will pay for itself many times over!

A great book
Very comprehensive book, very thoroughly covers all aspects of trail running, racing, gear, nutrition, training, etc. Most appropriate for someone with little/no experience, but a good read even if you have been around a bit !

At the end of the day you just have to get out and run. Have a good one !

Really the ultimate book on the subject.
It is one of the greatest books of all times. While the human race is being pushed even more into emotional savagery by the pseudo-intellectuals and false gurus, this book courageously discusses the divine enlightenment possible through rational thought.

Delightful collection of tales
I count myself lucky to own this book- sad to see that this (and Shardik!!) are hard to find. Beautiful illustrations, and writing that will draw you in. As I recall, this is not really for young children (but then, I don't think watership down was for young children either). If you find it, pick it up.

Insightful commentaries and nostalgic reminisces
Uncommon Friends: Celebrating The Human-Animal Bond is a gentle memoir of the love shared between an animal lover and her four-legged canine and feline friends. In Uncommon Friends, Julie Adams Church reflects both on the joy of living pets and the memory of loved animals passed on. The result of these insightful commentaries and nostalgic reminisces is a moving, compelling testimony that will strike a kindred reflection in fellow animal lovers.
