Hard-to-find info is right on the money
It's hard to find good subspecialty info when trying to review for step 2, even though all my colleagues warned me this stuff was on the test. I'm very glad I used this book, which has 50 cases that use an "unknown" case format, because I had many subspecialty questions on my exam (ophthalmology, vascular surgery and neurosurgery especially). This book gave me the info I needed to get these questions right and doesn't take long to read. I recommend it for those who, like me, are trying to do better than just squeak by on the test.

Great stuff!
Fantastic way to review for step 2. Great "vignettes" mimic the format of the seemingly eternally long clinical scenario questions that were on my exam. Explanations are superb, because they help you with the differential for similar conditions and give you practical pointers for things the boards love to ask or will try to trick you with. All in all, a great investment.

Superb book on a great art collection
This beautiful book offers large, generous reproductions, many in color, and expert commentary on an impressive surrealist art collection. It has the best presentation of Joseph Cornell's work among art books I have seen-- even among those devoted entirely to the artist. Of course, several other greats are featured, including Miro, Dali, Brauner, Ernst, Magritte, Breton, Lam.... If you like this kind of art, do yourself a favor: buy the book and take a trip to downtown Chicago and the Art Institute.

Beautiful book displays amazing collection!
This wonderful book showcases one of the world's best collections of 20th. century art. Of special fascination are the works of American artist Joseph Cornell. The Bergmans are the pre-eminent Cornell collectors as the breadth and unsurpassed quality of his work showcased herein demonstrates. The photographs are exquisitely rendered and Ades' commentary is incisive. This book stands as a worthy complement to the collection housed in the Art Institute of Chicago

Look beyond yourself
I thought this was an excellent book for any age level. So often we tend to focus on ourselves and forget that others, especially our pets, have real feelings as well.

The characters are very lifelike. Some very humorous and some not. The differences are evident just like with human beings. The idea of helping others and being judged wrongly by others comes through loud and clear. As does the idea of concentrating on the task at hand and doing the best you can at it.

My kids loved the story and the simple illustrations, but I would definately say that this is not a story only for children. Adults can come away with some strong moral messages that we tend to forget sometimes in our busy worlds. The simplicity is refreshing and very inspirational.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone.

The Power Of Positive Thinking In a Childrens' Book!
I have 3 children and I wanted to begin a new tradition by reading a chapter book together frequently throughout the week. My kids are 13, 11, and 5 years old and so I had to choose a book that would be entertaining not only for those age groups, but for myself too.

I was impressed about the very fact that this book was so entertaining. We read through the chapters quickly because we wanted to know what happened next. Anyway, it ended up to be somewhat of a tear-jerker, but I wasn't disappointed because that's how life is filled with ups and downs.

The pictures in the book were really creative and the kids were anxious to study the details to match them up with the story.

Anyway, I was really happy with the book. I would recommend this story to any family who wants to begin a great family tradition like I have.

Lucid and easy to use.
Rarely have I read a book that was so lucid, yet gave information in such a way that was also useful. This book has done both, not only describing in detail how to use divination of all types, but allowing the reader to feel completley able to move ahead with skill and confidence.

More than that, it is a book that will leave you thinking as you, quite rightly, generalise that the author has written in to your life, as it is obvious the author intended.

This book is a joy of prose and a delight of description.

A wonderful, practical guide
I found this book to be concise, useful, and free of the New-Age mumbo-jumbo so often encountered in texts dealing with divination. It covered virtually every aspect of using this system from the details of how to construct a basic set of Tellstones to how to throw a reading, and even how to use the Tellstones as a focal point to help manifest desired outcomes.

While thorough and informative,it was not dogmatic or overly rigid, and gave suggestions for developing a personal, intuitive interpretation of the stones.

It was an easy read, and promises to be a handy reference. I am very pleased!

Here I am again!
Hello!

I wrote the reveiw below, and I have to stay, the principles of that book still apply! The series contains tomes on health, happiness, wealth, and love, and I recommend them all! They are not silly "rules" such as "don't return his phone calls" or "don't kiss on the first date" but instead, timeless principles of true self examination and real encouragement.

Absolute MUST READ
BUY THIS BOOK, and purchase 10 secrets of Abundant Wealth at the same time. Buy a stack of notecards, and copy down all the secrets and notes of your own, and flip through them daily...it WILL change your life. This is a collection of great principles for guiding your life, and living it in a healthy and successful way. This is NOT a guide on looking sexy or getting dates, or get-rich-quick schemes.

I moved out of an abusive relationship into a good one, and have given a half dozen copies of this book away. 10 Secrets of Abundant Wealth helped me quadruple my income, and then DOUBLE it again. Buy 2 copies of each, and give a set to your best friend. PLEASE email me with your favorite books and tell me what you thought of this.

Someone is listening!
This book told me things I did not know and now I am concerned. I hear everyday about bad things caused by the oil industry but I didn't understand how important oil is to my life and my family. Mr.Adams said the terrorist know these issues and now I believe it. At the end of the book, the author said something like "I hope someone listens". Tell him that my family and I are listening.I hope the Washington politicians listen.

Eye Opening Read
Neal Adams obviously knows what he is talking about. He communicates the dangers that the world's oil supply faces with a calmness and sense of purpose. It is a non-technical read and can be easily read over a couple of days. I recommend this book to anyone who is trying to get clearer idea as to why it is so important for the U.S. to fight the war on terrorism.

Excellent book
Especially if you are one of those people who is disillousioned with much of psychoanalysis, Phillips has an incredible way of presenting paradox, and thinking about symptoms and psychologists in new and interesting ways. A must if you're a psychologist, and a double must if you're in grad school. The only thing negative I can say about Phillips is that his writing style can start to repeat after a while so its best not to read two Phillips books back to back.

Psychoanalysis as Subject and Object
"People come for psychoanalysis - or choose someone to have a conversation with - when they feel they can no longer keep a secret." In this slim and satisfying book, Phillips distills his not inconsiderable devotion to psychoanalysis into six thoughtful essays. Phillips seems to have read everything; he thinks deeply, and has an astonishing ability to synthesize. His assertions challenge the reader, and he supports them with evidence.

His essays read like easy, intelligent musings, but he has slyly assembled his facts. Some of his sources are Lacan, Winnicott, Freud, Ferenczi, Franz Kafka, Khan, Descartes - among many others. He's an original, a clinician as well as a theoretician, and has a compassionate heart as well as a great mind.

This is a great teaching tool
This is a terriffic book for use in the music classroom, and at home. As a book that can be either sung or read, it is versatile. It's large size and colorful illustrations draw kids attention. I have personally found it to be very effective with my kindergarten through third grade students. I highly reccommend it to anyone looking for a good book for younger kids that can be sung or read! I highly suggest Pam Adams books.

My 2-year-year old learned how to count to 10 reading this!
My 2-year-old loves to sing the song along with me, and loves to hold this sturdy book. The illustrations are eye-catching and hold his interest until we finish the song. The rhythm of the tune helped him learn more complex word patters like "came rolling home." It is printed in bright colors, on thick paper, and can withstand some toddler handling. This book is similar to the other books illustrating children's folk tunes, but this is by far my son's favorite!

look to the past to preview the future
this book is brilliant. it captures perfectly the obsession of the french decadent movement with the female and what the male will do to control "woman." I will not give away any details of the story, but i must say the female as vampiric, hysterical, and simply put, sick, is what the character of thomas edison in this novel tries to put an end to by making his own version of "the female" that will be better suited to the world and society, but actually selfishly, to the needs of the male, and in particular mr. edison in the novel. it is a brilliant novel and i recommend THE DECADENT READER, from which i read this novel, it contains more unknown and unfortunately unread literature from this extremely fascinating movement at the end of the nineteenth century.

Decadent masterpiece
This little known novel is a masterpiece of Decadent literature (a brief movement localized in France around the turn of the last century that was influenced mainly by the poetry of Baudelaire and the theories of evolution put forth by Darwin). It tells the story of a fictionalized Edison who builds a female cyborg to exist in place of the unattainable love object of a tortured young man. She is animated by the spirit of a ghost and has the appearance of a Venus statue. Villiers, in the decadent tradition, lauds artifice above "nature," writing characters who traverse the world of illusion as that which is more real than real, a world in which appearance and the material are everything. This book might be of particular interest to feminists: Villiers only writes women as artifical beings, hysterics, ghosts, objects of fetishism. This book is a must read for any one interested in metaphysics and the rhetoric of "image" versus "being."
