Educated informative look at a truly dedicated family
This book and the corresponding PBS television documentary offer an incredible look at the sacrifices of this family. Whatever one's personal feelings are in regards to the politics of Nehru, Indira Gandhi, and Rajiv Gandhi, one cannot help but to recognize the incredible sacrifices made by this family. Covering 4 generations of the family, the book details the virtues and mistakes of this political dynasty. What the book addresses best is that despite the fact that the family is called a "dynasty," it faced great political opposition, which ended the lives of Indira and Rajiv Gandhi. The succesive family members did not merely inherit the post of Prime Minister like it was their birthright. They had to fight for it, and both Indira and Rajiv lost elections and were thrown out of office, forcing them to make comebacks. However the book has a flaw that it shares with many others. It is oudated. Despite being a recent publication, it fails to cover one important aspect that leaves informed readers hanging. In January 1998, Rajiv's widow Sonia began to actively campaigning for the party in which her family was such an active force. In March, Sonia Gandhi became the Congress Party Presidentwhich continues this so called "dynasty."

A Wonderful Book But Hard To Find
This long out-of-print anthology of pre-Smithian writings is a treasure. It contains selections from Aristotle, Xenophon, Aquinas, Oresme, Molinaeus, Bodin, Serra, Mun, von Hornick, Cantillon, Galiani, Hume, Quesnay, Turgot, and von Justi. Each of these writers covers the sprectrum of ideological thought ranging from statism, or proto-mercantilism, to non-statism, or proto-libertarian. The only criticism that I can make about this book is that many of the selections are actually excerpts and not the entire essay or treatise. That said, this would still be an invaluable tool if you are interested in the history of economic thought. That is if you can find a copy.

heart-warming
This delightful story takes you on a journey with a frustrated easter bunny who has missed easter after oversleeping. Not only does one get to experience all the holidays of the year, but one also appreciates the aspects unique to easter. It also serves a good lesson to those children who are loathe to get out of bed. The story is charming and the illustartions are joyful. A treasure!

Orson Abbott
Adrienne Adams was one of my twin daughters' favorite book illustrators when they were small. They are now 26 so I was delighted to find this especial favorite of theirs. The Abbotts are rabbits who decorate their house, their car, airplanes and bridges during vacation, but their real business is Easter eggs. Son, Orson, helps with the one hundred dozen they have to do for Easter because he loves to paint and never tires of it.

Saturated with God's love for man, and man's need for God.
Full of insight. It is as though the author has interviewed God. I have never known a better interpretation of God's love for mankind. This approach totally destroys the traditional concept of legalism. Christ, Himself, said that He is the Bridegroom and we are the "bride", a relationship based upon love, not legalism. Oh the joy of a heart made new by a loving relationship with Jesus. I no longer enjoy the sins I used to crave. I no longer wonder about forgiveness. My CHANGED LIFE is witness to accuracy of this authors' presentation of God's love for me. Emilio has had this experience and this book is his testimony. EVERYONE should read and understand the GOD presented in this book. -dkw

Best book on edible weeds in my library
The format of this little book lets you carry it in your pocket easily. It is well organized and the illustrations make the plants easy to recognize. Only the best-known weeds are reviewed and most of them can be found all over the world. I would therefore recomment this book non-Canadians as well.
Every plant is covered under the following headings:
All the names, Latin & common
How to Recognize
Where to Find
How to Use
Suggested Recipes
More of Interest
I would also like to point out that Nancy Turner is the co-author.
In Canada, this title can be found in every public library.

For those curious about all mummies
In no fewer than 64 pages, this book provides a history of mummification from the Predynastic era to the Roman period. Tomb robberies, animal mummification, funerary customs and methods are discussed. Illustrated in black and white, it also includes a list of museums where mummies are exhibited, as well as a short bibliography. A must for everyone's collection.

Electromagnetic Theory

Book and Author.
The book is a very comprehensive reference on electromagnetic theory, particularly as applied to macroscopic systems.
The author: During the late '20s and early '30s at MIT's Round Hill research program, Professor Julius A. Stratton worked with graduate students (later Professors) Henry G. Houghton and William H. Radford on transmitting electromagnetic wave signals through fog to assist in the blind landing of aircraft, and later to locate land and ocean objects from the air. Professor Stratton's book, Electromagnetic Theory, published in 1941, is still considered an essential text in the field today. As a staff member in MIT's war-time Radiation Laboratory, he worked on the development of long-range navigation systems (LORAN) and became RLE's first director in 1946, continuing the Rad Lab's tradition of interdisciplinary research. Professor Stratton was also instrumental in establishing many innovative academic and research policies in his several administrative capacities at MIT (including provost, chancellor, and president).
