Book was clearly written and loaded with evidence.
Garfinkle debunks one of the great myths of the Vietnam era, that the antiwar movement in any way hastened the end of our involvement there. As the author notes, much of the reason for the almost universal acceptance of this view is because we are so used to hearing it, and because on a certain level we want to believe that outraged Americans can and did change the course of history. Garfinkle points to a number of Harris and Gallup polls from the 1960s which clearly demonstrate that if there was anything more hated than the war itself, it was the antiwar movement. He also details how this rage on the part of the "silent majority" put Richard Nixon into office, which gave America four more years of war and another 25,000 dead American soldiers. A wonderful book, rich with detail and original insight.

The Temple Scrolls
I picked up this book expecting just another mediocre book... Boy was I surprised! The story had just the right amount of humor, along with intrigue and even a good look at a Christians life in action! Great reading.

similar to Bonnie Raitt tune, Something To Talk About
Adam Morely tells his best friend Lauren Bryant he needs a wife because he is tired of the lack of passion sex with endless babes brings. He wants to come to share home cooked meals and to raise a family. Since he always asks Lauren for advice before impetuously plunging into something, he does so again. She says romance his intended.

Lauren begins receiving romantic gifts from a secret admirer. When her friends, work associates, and mother tell her it is Adam, she begins to believe and wonder if she should risk their friendship since they were Roswell, Georgia neighbors as kids. Soon, Adam and Lauren take the next step beyond friendship as they fall in passionate love beyond that of "buddydom". However, how will she react when she learns he is not her secret admirer?

Readers will find TEMPTING ADAM quite tempting and enticing as the lead couple makes a delightful duo in denial. The story line will remind the audience of the Bonnie Raitt tune, Something To Talk About as everyone else recognizes that Lauren and Adam love each other except the lead duet. Fans of sensual heated romances will relish Dorie Graham's engaging story.

Tides and Seasons
A beautiful collection of Celtic poems and prayers. They are written in everyday language, accessible, and relevant to our times. The prayers evoke a connection with the Divine Spirit irrespective of religious affiliation. I especially enjoyed selecting a particular one and meditating on it. Very rich!

A Legend Writes About Legends ...
This is one of those books that is long overdue. I was just beginning in radio when I first met Tillman Franks. It was through this legendary bass-fiddle player, personal manager of super stars, songwriter and country music promoter ... all-in-one ... that I met most of those mentioned in this book. Tillman was not only "there when it happened" ... in many instances, he was responsible for many good things in country music "happening" in the first place! It was through Tillman that I first met Elvis. I would appear on several show with 'Old El'. It was also Tillman who introduced me to Johnny Horton, David Houston and so many others. Although I never met my idol, Hank Williams, Sr., Tillman Franks was also responsible for much of Hank's super stardom. This book, written in the easy, Louisiana speaking style of the author, not only takes you backstage with so many legends, it takes you to the dressing rooms! Yes, Tillman was there when it happened ... and I'm glad he was. You don't have to be a fan of country music to enjoy this very good book. It's musical history, told by a man who belongs in our Country Music Hall-of-Fame ... which will eventually "happen", of course.

Funny and Original!
How can you not love the name of this book? I mean -- come on. "Tom Dick and Debbie Harry" - how clever is that? I give Jessica Adams a big thumbs up on this one. I loved her previous work - "Single White E-Mail" and I was really happy to get a copy of this her new book. This hilarious romp is set within the structure of a wedding and that leads to some smart and sexy scenes. I found it really original and different. I haven't read anything else like it - and I have read a LOT of english/australian/american books written by young women. So, I give it high praise for originality.

My only complaint is the sometimes disjointed character development - I wanted more, and found some characters lacking. Other than that ------- highly recommended.

Cheers!

A Treatise on Angel Magic: Being a Complete Transcription of Harley Manuscript 6482 in the British Library (Magnum Opus Hermetic Sourceworks, No 15)
Published in Hardcover by Phanes Pr (December, 1994)
Authors: Adam McLean, Thomas Rudd, and British Library
Amazon base price: $35.00
Used price: $265.30
Average review score:

Invaluable
This volume is mostly a reprint of the manuscript mentioned in the title. Adam McLean gives some brief observations on the material and the manuscript's history then let's the user do the interpretation.

Why I call it invaluable is that it really constitutes one of the most important links between John Dee and the late 19th century schools of occult (i.e the Golden Dawn and the Aurum Solis). For those who, like myself, question the why's of the correspondeces formulated by the GD (esp. in terms of geomancy) this book unravels that mystery. While Rudd did not actually describe the specifics of his attributions, it becomes clear where the GD was borrowing from. It's catalog of spirits also contain entities from other Grimoire traditions and their associated sigils which probably make it useful for anyone investigating those traditions (e.g. Solomon).

Wierdly funny and gratifying
Reading Eduardo Mendoza must be a whole experience in english. I have done it in spanish and he is simply one of the best writters in Spain. Not only for his deep knowledge of the "catalan" very particular way of being, but for his amazing talent to make people laugh trough a really well done literature. This particular book makes you share a crazy adventure, an impossible story that the reader ends up believing in it. This is the very first case of a derange patience who will leave his mental illness hospital to solve a mistery. And once is started the story, the reader wont have the strength to stop the book. Only laughing tears may do the miracle to close the book for an instant. A must yet not his best book.
