My Postposterous Reading of a Preposterous Book
McMillin:Emerson::hula-hoops:Elvis Presley.

Let me explain. Couched in the idea of "inspiration" may be the notion of the opening of doors (or the cleansing of them, as Huxley would have it). To be inspired may involve, rathen than an infusion of the divine, a new openness to the forces whech press upon us. Inspiration in this sense would be the bestowal of new an unimagined (and imaginable) freedom. It was the hula-hoop that "inspired" the success of Elvis Presley. Without the hula-hoop a particular generation would have never been open to shaking their rumps. It is my hope that this book will inspire as much in the "circles" of its influence.

McMillin's singular vision and wit qualitfy this book to escape from the domain of the merely "scholarly" and "academic". Sadly, others may not have the vision to assure this book becomes the classic it deserves to be -- but I have no doubt that it's influence will be woven inexricably into the web of American thought and literature.

Thouroughly enjoyable. Scholarly, but highly readable.
This book is a must for those readers interested in the history of the British Monarchy. The authors and editors have masterly created both an historical perspective of the institution as well as a personal viewpoint which is both critical and sentimental. Some may be turned off by the length of this book, but once you begin reading, you'll wonder where the time goes. And the wonderful photographs and illustrations bring their words to life.

In the thick of it with the 166th Photo Signal Company.
In a most unmilitary way, World War II Army authorities actually found men with professional skills to become combat cameramen, instead of training farmers and mechanics in the usual fashion. The present work illustrates the wisdom of this strategy.
This particular unit, broken up into small detachments and spread among all of the Third Army's elements, was present at all the major engagements and events from Normandy to Prague, winning many decorations and leaving a legacy of striking images. A good selection of these are included, as well as some remarks and essays by the veterans of the 166th. That some reflect the fog of war and unreliability of memory in no way reduces the value and interest of the pictures and text here.
Highly recommended for military history readers, WWII buffs, and photography students.

A must have set of books for ancestors of PA German pioneers
I must say that Amazon didn't say that the book I purchased was a set. I chose the book that had 2400 plus pages, and it did in fact turn out to be the 3 volume set. It is a must have set of books for the geneology buff.
I have found numerous ancestors in these books. I would highly recommend them.
The excitement of finding my ancestors signature from 250 years ago was the best part!!!

A Study in the ACTS OF GOD
As he does in many of his other works, Dr. DeHaan lays out a very readable yet inciteful tome that will make one think more deeply about many of the events outlined in the book of Acts. Especially instructive is the discussion on the gift of tongues and of the respective roles of Peter and Paul in the dispensation of the gospel first to the Jews, then the Samaritans and finally to the Gentiles. Old Testament scripture and culture are profusely referenced as underlying support for these New Testament events.
