Phew, It's a good thing the paper isn't thick
This book is a whopping 896 pages. Crammed with pricing of collectibles. For the most part, since it covers such a vast array of items, it is a worded listing of the object, and a price. Sprinkled on the bottom of the page, are a few of the more renouned items in a black and white photo. If you are an experienced antique dealer, trader, or rummager, this book is something to take along when you are "finding". It has the price list of everything out there, as long as you can figure out what those things are called.
The nice thing is that the price for this book, considering the size of the volume, you can't help but want it. Even if you only use it once, it will pay for itself, in knowing what market value is on the object.
In the car business they have NADA, in antiques they have the Kovell's price list. If you are into antiquing, this is a must have.

Kovels are Best
This is a great book for experts and beginners. It has dates for manufacturers and makers, marks, tips, and best of all, pictures. The book is fully indexed and cross-referenced. The center section highlights curious collectibles -- items with uses that are unfamiliar to many collectors -- and is illustrated with full-color photographs. No wonder Kovels' Antiques & Collectibles Price List has been around for 32 years! It's the only antiques & collectibles price list that is acutally written by the people whose names appear on the cover.

The best
This book is the best at telling you how to sell and auction your antiques via the Web. And it references other great books, including "Royal Winton Porcelain: Ceramics Fit For A King," by Eileen Rose Busby, which, at their recommendation, I promptly bought and was glad I did.

La escapada de Ralph / Runaway Ralph

EXCITING BOOK
This book is about a mouse named Ralph who lives uinder a grandfather clock in a hotel with his families. Ralph is not just an ordinary mouse you see speaking in your attic, he is special. So special, that he has his own red motorcycle. With the motorcycle, he runs away from the hotel and his families because of his families' low trustworthy againist him. He runs away into a campsite with hundreds of boys and girls. Ralph finds himself in trouble with three cats when one of the boys named Gark catches him and keeps him from troubles.
There is no part of this book I disliked. None, because Beverly Cleary keeps yohh into the book. It actually "feels" like your there with Ralph and his ultimult adventures. She keeps you from stop rerading and say, "this book ...!" You rather say, "Gee, I wonder what happens on the next chapter!" I highly recommad you read this book instantly.
"I hab a better idea," said Garf. "I'll take you back to the hotel myself when my family comes to get me. They'll be spending the night there before they come and pick me up the day after tomorrow. The camo doesn't serve us lunch on the day we leave, so I know we'll stop at the Inn for lunchbefore we get home. It's the only place around here. I could easily take you along in my pocket." This quote meant a lot to me. This quote showed me that all Beverly Cleary books had a moral to the story. This book's moral was "the better friendship you have, the better things that you will earn from friendship."
Why this book you ask? Well, because Beverly Cleary is my favorite author. She gives me the reason to read rather then just reading for fun. I really get to learn lots of things when I read her books. Like a history book with games on it so that you learn stuff and hab fun. Read this fabulous book and Runaway Ralph, might be your favorite too.

Completely entertaining and informative
Ralph and Terry Kovel created a wonderful coffee table book that outlines some of the best ICONS in commercial and advertising art. This book has deep appeal to not only designers but anyone who has a love for retro design and just plain cool art direction. American trends and packaging and even culture spring out of the depiction of many of these gorgeous four color labels. I enjoyed this book and even my teenage kids found it a really neat thing to look at.

For history and antique buffs there is also enough information to make them happy as well.

Certainly an interesting book
With the incredible racial injustices perpetrated by white males in this country and Native Peoples, it is astonishing that we are priviledged to learn about their struggles at all. As a feminist, I would have appreciated a greater consideration of what it means to be a Native American woman in this book, but it is a valuable assemblage none the less. Coming from a eurocentric family, it is a great joy to be able to learn about Native American Literature, much more refreshing than the so called "canonical" books written by boring white males. This is a useful corrective to that attitude.

Real robots, backed by real robotics, and made with LEGOs
This book has gathered together "Masterpieces" from some of the the world's greatest LEGO creators. Builders from the US, Canada, Italy, Netherlands, and Japan have brought you their passions, the theories behind each masterpiece, and detailed building and programming techniques. "LEGO Mindstorms Masterpieces" is truly at the zenith of all related books and I believe it will become a true masterpiece both in name and in reality.

This book began in July of 2002. And, while the the creation, writing and editing was extremely difficult, the authors fought mightily to accomplish our goal: to build LEGO robots both suitable for Master Builders and worthy of this book's title! Amazing PneumADDic II and Synchropillar by Kevin as a computer processor specialist and creator of LPub and LSynth. Splendid Stair-Climber by Doug who is a well known creator of several Omni Drive Vehicles. And, two awesome works - Learning Brick Sorter and The LEGO Turing Machine that were invented by the famous Ferrari brothers - they are co-authors of the best selling "Building Robots with LEGO Mindstorms" and have been called the "DaVincis of LEGO". Biped robot expert Miguel created complex SSCT faithfully based on the real robot that was active for life search and explore in WTC, New York. Lastly, a robotic arm driven by 10 motors and feedback system - CyberArm IV that I have created as a series in four years. All of these are the real robots that are backed by real robotics - only the materials are LEGO! We are very pleased that we could explore a new frontier in LEGO Mindstorms, and be able to offer it in book form.

As the one of pioneers of LEGO robots, I have had my experience of the results in the MIT Media Lab fortunately in the middle of the 80s, and the result of my writing of over half year keeping is included in bundle CD-ROM as a over 50 pages bonus chapter. I have tried to write about a lot of topics to explain the world of robots and LEGO Mindstorms - history of LEGO robot or their philosophy of the LEGO Group, precious list and description of early LEGO educational sets for control learning, personal robot boom in the 80s, from a more than 300-year-old Japanese automata (the Karakuri) to the latest state-of-the-art robotics. I believe that my discussion and description about the way of thinking and creation - included building, programming, CAD and even about Art - are useful in particular.

We hope that this book will never lose its value and that it will become loved by people of all generations.

Let's Write a Novel
Published in Paperback by Vandamere Pr (July, 1993)
Author: Ralph M. McInerny
Amazon base price: $89.00
Average review score:

Superb help just when you needed it
The fatherly voice of professor Ralph McInerny may not inspire everyone to write, but it has provided much motivation to get me going.

Let's Write a Novel is a novel (pun fully intended) 12-cassette tape course and workbook by the author of the Father Dowling mysteries and the novel "The Red Hat". This series of lessons and accompanying workbook offers step-by-step instructions for writing a novel.

McInerny discusses plot, characters, and points of view using his own unpublished novel "The Prudence of the Flesh" which is included as well.

Writers will find his persistence either endearing or irritating as he urges them to complete their writing exercises and write along with him. McInerny is adamant that the writer must write a set number of pages each day.

Vandamere also sells McInerny's popular "Let's Write a Mystery" and "Let's Write Short Stories" tapes.
