Yet Another Guitar Book
You can do much better than this two book set. Save your money.

Provides Positive Feedback
This is a beginning guitar method. I think it is important for a student to have positive feedback to maintain the momentum of learning. As such, having a CD to play along with makes you feel like you're making music, even at the beginning stages. Also, teaching progressions and techniques and pointing out what famous songs use these is great. I recommend.

A Rotten Book
This book would be endurable without the text. The low point is on page 24 when "Sarah awarded Ralph with a celebration." The text should read, of course, Sarah rewarded Ralph with a celebration. This glaring error should have been caught by a reasonably capable editor, so perhaps this book was published without being proofread...or perhaps it was published without having been read at all. Sloppy grammar and uninspired story-construction are all too common in fiction, especially children's books, and this insipid story is an egregious example of irresponsible book publishing.

Another great Rotten Ralph story!
"Not so Rotten Ralph" is one of my favorite books of the series. My five year old brother laughs and laughs each time we read it! The illustrator again adds to the plot with cleaver details - tell your child to pay close attention to the pictures!

The Petkau Effect: Nuclear Radiation, People and Trees

This book is tripe.
If you already fear nuclear power and know nothing about it, and wish to have your fears feed by both misleading statistics and paranoid dogma this book is for you, If on the otherhand you actually wish to read a factual book on nuclear power don't read this one.

Excellent information for those concerned about radiation
The book is very informative and slams the government and WHO for lack of forsight on what could be the major cause of all cancer deaths. A must read for anyone who lives on this planet!

The key to understanding...
I'm writing this review because the low rating this study guide currently has stunned me. This book is an incredible resource. However, it is to be utilized if and only if the textbook, "Physics or Scientists and Engineers" is used as well.

The guide for each chapter of the textbook available in this study guide begins with an introduction discussing the general goals of the chapter. Then the major equations and concepts of the chapter are summarized. Some suggestions, skills, and strategies are then presented, and a review checklist is provided that lists the concepts you should be able to describe after studying the chapter.

After the guide for each chapter is the solutions manual for selected problems in the textbook. Each one of the solutions has in depth explanation and step-by-step conceptual and mathematical guidance that are very easy to understand. Many solutions are set up according to the "GOAL" problem solving steps: Gather information, Organize your approach, Analyze the problem, and Learn from your efforts (how to check your work). Every solution in the manual presents a different direction from which to view some concept of physics.

The set of two study guides (this and volume 1) greatly facilitate the comprehension of the text itself. They also provide quick, easy review for a test or exam the next morning that you haven't studied for. Highly recommended and deserving of all 5 stars.

The D is for dud in D. Ralph Millard
Great book if you're living in the sixties or seventies. Poorly organized book, limited info on grafting techniques, limited info on secondary and open rhinoplasty, no commentary on long-term rhinoplasty changes. Many other complaints ... In short, its worth about the $ 10 I paid for it in the bargain bin of our medical school bookstore. It may be worth it at $ 50, but anything more ... save your money and buy the RK Daniel, DM Toriumi dissection book, Dallas Rhinoplasty, Tardy's book.

Excelent
It's a great book, with apropriate ideas and an easy way to the results;I recoment to the beginner and to the advanced surgeon.

Disapointed in the lack of information
I waited a long time for this new edition to come out and it is a whopping 700 pages but, it spends half of its content lamenting the loss of the original author who died last year and reprinting articles I have from earlier editions. The names were updated abit but the prices still seem inacurate. A disapointing end to a once prolific career for the author.

Their best price guide yet
Sanders are THE experts in autograph pricing and have been for years, this edition had chapters on matting and framing your collection, with web sites to get tools and materials, also a chapter on internet auctions and watching out for forgeries which are prolific on the web. If you collect autographs, this book is a must!

CIA Bosses, not Field Officers !!
And this is the whole point of this book, nevertheless interesting and well written : Interviewed are only CIA former Directors. So it's really the Bosses pont of view rather than the field operative's one. Mislead by the title, I was not that impressed by the book content. Most of the stories are already old news (some interviews have been published at length), about overtold events such as JFK's assassination or the Bay Of Pigs. If you wanna hear it from the guys doing the actual work, stay away.

I wouldn't have bought it if I had seen it on a shelf. But I guess it's one of the risks of online purchasing.

Interesting!
I suppose all I have ever thought of the CIA is the mysterious "wet ops" assassination stuff. This book certainly gave me a LOT more insight!

Sub Rosa (Five Star First Edition Mystery Series)
Published in Hardcover by Five Star (October, 2001)
Author: Ralph M. McInerny
Amazon base price: $24.95
Used price: $6.94
Average review score:

Subpar
This "mystery" begins with more than the usual tangle of coincidences. A female serial killer who is also a bestselling author witnesses the abandonment of an Alzheimer victim. She is being interviewed by a reporter who is the boyfriend of the victim's granddaughter. Oh, did I mention the winning lottery ticket? Nor is there any mystery, as the reader always knows who is guilty. There's a limited amount of suspense as to whether, how, and by whom the perp(s) will be brought to justice. And it's far from a typical "cozy". There are a few of the philosophical tidbits one expects from this author, but really, where's Father Dowling when you need him?

Enjoyable-but with loose ends
Rosa Subiaco is a world-famous romance/glitz author with the nasty habit of kidnapping lovers and then disposing of them--sometimes permanently. When Rosa sees a woman dropping off a man, she acts impulsively to pick him up, only to learn that 'Grandpa' has Alzheimer's disease and is too old and incapable for romance. Rosa decides to get her revenge on Edna, the woman who abandoned 'Grandpa' and to see what happens from there.

By the time homicide detective Egidio Manfredi is called in, the case has spiraled from a missing person to kidnapping and murder. Lucy, the old man's loving granddaughter, is buffeted by one loss after another. Yet Manfredi knows that the killer won't hesitate to kill again if she feels threatened.

Author Ralph McInerny has created a clever tale of disfunction, misplaced revenge, and an author to whom reality is a somewhat distant concept. SUB ROSA is a quick and enjoyable read--sort of a guilty pleasure. The novel does have its flaws--putting a winning lottery ticket in the old man's pocket makes the whole story less believable without adding much to the story. Also, I was surprised by the loose ends left at the end of the short novel. Does Alex get the girl? Where is Nick? McInerny's quirky characters make up for these lacks.

29 Reasons Not to Go to Law School

Authors: Ralph E. Warner, Mari Stein, and Toni Ihara
Amazon base price: $9.94
Used price: $2.48
Collectible price: $5.00
Average review score:

funny.. but COME ON!
There are many laughs to be had while reading this book. But in the end it is written by a bunch of disgruntled law students who hate the profession and want everyone else to hate it as well.

I'm not sure where these people went to school- probably in those top tier schools that people sell their souls to the devil to get into, and then complain about the competition, money, etc.

If you go to a regional law school, or (gasp!) a public law shool, you will find that most of what is described in this book is not true. My professors are not out to get me or humiliate me. Perhaps the ivy league schools are filled with teachers with this mentality, but your state's school is most likely filled with people who enjoy teaching and want to produce good lawyers.

Read this for fun- but don't let it stop you from going to law school if you really want to go.
