Concise and entertaining
This book is a straight forward introduction to aquinian phylosophy. I was first introduced to it reading the autobiography of Pope Paul. Where it was refered to frequently. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the subject but doesn't want to get bogged down with a lot of details. Snt Thomas's phylosophy is Aristotal's concept of natural law from a Christian perspective.

Eye Pathology
This book provides a concise summary of ocular pathology and has clear pictures illustrating histopathology of the eye. As a quick guide or as preparation for exams, it is definitely one of the better and simpler texts around. In addition, though very simple, this book covers some of the more recent aspects of ocular pathology as well as a small section on the handling and preparation of specimens. Highly recommended.

Spiritually engrossing tale of deceit and intrigue
With the advent of the Millennium and it's Apocalyptic undertones, this novel portrays a classic battle of good versus evil of literally Biblical proportions. A contemporary storyline set against a theme of global intrigue interwoven with prophetic passages leaves the reader wondering whether this is a work of fiction or a prophecy itself. Even agnostics will find it thought provoking as it compels one to assess their preparedness to account for their life's deeds and beliefs when they pass on or if sooner, judgement day at Armageddon.

Few Are Chosen
This is a wonderful story of a young man's journey into manhood. The need for his father's love and approval propels Erik on a lifelong mission to fulfill this need. If you are looking for a feel-good read, look no further. I am looking forward to the next installment of young Erik's life, "The Absurdities of War".

Excellant for those who enjoy exploring the outdoors
This a great book for hikers in Ohio. It describes in detail many hikes of varying length all over the state. However, sometimes the descriptions in the book don't seem to match the actual trail. A more detailed map and a compass are often helpful. All this is not to say that this is not a great guidebook. The hikes described are beautiful and exciting. I especially recommend Shawnee State Forest.

Good, if out of date, intro to Air Force One
In the late 1960s and early '70s, now-retired Air Force colonel Ralph Albertazzie was commander and pilot of Air Force One. Jerry terHorst (whose name, as Garry Trudeau once observed, looks like a typo) was a decades-long member of the White House press corps and first press secretary for President Gerald Ford. Between them, they had the skills and experience to produce a serviceable, and entertainingly personal, history of Air Force One. Although the book is now more than a little out of date, it's nevertheless a good overview of the first four decades of presidential air travel.
Most interesting, given Albertazzie's personal insights, are the authors' stories of Henry Kissinger's secret trips to Europe for peace negotiations with the North Vietnamese, his equally clandestine trip to China to prepare for President Nixon's public one in 1972 (Albertazzie piloted both trips), and -- in the chapter that opens the book -- Citizen Nixon's post-resignation flight back home to California.
The Air Force One of today is almost incomprehensibly advanced relative to the one Albertazzie flew. Nevertheless, for readers interested in the accoutrements of presidential power, tracking down a copy of this book is worth a little effort.

Daunting but worth the read.
The Fuhrer, by Konrad Heiden, is an intriguing analysis of Hitler's rise to power that was written by one of his contemporaries. Heiden, a Socialist, who nevertheless is more objective than one would expect, seeks to show the scheming, events, and popular sentiments that led to Hitler's rise to power while at the same time foreshadowing the danger of Hitler's rule. The only departures from objectivity are those places in which Hitler is called "the Antichrist" and is said to be the true follower of The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion. The conventional belief is that it was "the Jewish enemy" that was carrying them out, in stark contrast to Heiden's views.
Although the book is an analysis of Hitler's rise to power, it is not a comprehensive biography. It starts with events that occured before his birth and ends during the Blood Purge of 1933, in which Hitler the chancellor, orders the systematic murder of his enemies. The book does not even go as far as the start of World War II or the Holocaust, as by then, Hitler had rose to power, and his achievements went downhill from there.
The book is written in ponderous scholarly language and takes effort to read. As a fulltime student, it took me about 20 days to finish the 600 odd pages. It is replete with reported anecdotes and excerpts from Hitler's speeches, correspondences, and correspondences relating to him, enhancing and lengthening the volume. If one can avoid falling asleep and really pay attention to what is being said, one will realize the clarity and relevance of the book.
I bought this book because it was the cheapest biography of Hitler I could find, and I was not disappointed. I recommend this book to all diligent readers who desire a greater understanding of how Hitler became the Fuhrer.
