Manual of Nerve Conduction Studies

Average review score:

Excellent resource for quick reference
I have used this book numerous times recently to complete more comprehensive nerve conduction studies. I find it more detailed and more inclusive than many of the other manuals for these tests. Its organization lends itself well to facilitating testing. Information is easily accessed and always pertinent. The author skillfully combines common accepted protocols with more detailed, less commonly used tests to offer a greater finesse. Clinically, it has enabled more efficient accurate results.

Great Book!
The book describes the city, her quarters, habitants, history, gods, dangers and "stars" in a soberb way. The adventure with happens in a market chash is very good too. The ONLY drawback of the book in my oppinion are the pictures who are inferior to Warhammer FRP standards. Anyway the book surely worth the price.

Extremely helpful
This book helps a reader navigate the maze known as Material Safety Data Sheets. As anyone who has ever faced the daunting task of completing these knows, these are very difficult to understand, even to the most brilliant of minds. With the help of this book, any MSDS novice can understand the essential elements of any of these forms. Although, it is somewhat dry, the content of the book has earned it place on my desk.

Good introductory science in a quaint product of 1963
I got this book as a child in the late 60's and have not been able to bring myself to part with it. The age of the book shows in many of its examples and pictures: Atlas rockets and Mercury astronauts, and computer "memory planes", not much bigger than straight pins, that can hold 240 bits of information. Wow! And who could forget the skinny-tie sporting demonstrator from Linde who treats us to the famous carnation-dipped-in-liquid-nitrogen trick.

Nonetheless the basic science as discovered and elaborated by such stalwarts as Dalton, Boyle, and Lavoisier and their successors is well presented.

Four stars for clarity of text and sentimental value.

WRITE YOUR BOOK
Stop saying "Maybe someday I will write a book". Get off your writer's block and start right now! Ralph Daigh gives all would be writers a kick in the pants to start writing their books. As the former vice-president of publishing of Fawcett Publications and editor of numerous magazines, Mr. Daigh knows what he is talking about and shares with his readers the inside story of the publishing world.

He takes the mystery out of the publishing process and shows you the pertinent steps you need to take in order to get your work into the editors' hands. His sole motivation is to help as well as encourage you to get your book in print. Any excuse that you may have regarding your marital, social or educational status in writing doesn't hold water with this man. Included in this work are profiles of authors he knows that share with you their experiences. And guess what? Many of them didn't have the so-called "credentials" for writing which you think are a prerequisite for getting published.

This is an excellent book of inspiration and advice in helping you to become an author. A word of caution is needed here. The book was published in 1977 prior to the internet publishing explosion. You won't find anything regarding writing over the net. Mr. Daigh discourages self-publishing which is his own personal bias. Quite a bit has changed in the publishing world with the advent of mergers, the internet and other areas which are not mentioned in the book. Again keep the information in the context of its time. Other than those items, Daigh has provided you with a strong incentive to publish. He is a motivator. There is no "maybe" in it (his title). You Should Write A Book.

Plays with the quality of parables
"The Measures Taken and Other Lehrstucke," by Bertolt Brecht, brings together four theater pieces by this important German playwright. The book is edited by John Willett and Ralph Manheim. Included is an introductory note entitled "The Lehrstuck or Learning-Play," which is excerpted from an essay by Brecht. The pieces in this book, all of which were written from 1929 to 1930, are as follows:

"The Measures Taken," translated by Carl R. Mueller, is the story of a group of Communist agitators from Moscow who go to spread ... in China. It's a compelling story about the conflict between idealism and doctrinal orthodoxy. "The Exception and the Rule," translated by Ralph Manheim, is about an expedition headed by an exploitative merchant. It's a story of greed, violence, and law. "He Who says Yes" and "He Who Says No," both translated by Wolfgang Sauerlander, are a linked pair of plays; each one tells the story of a young man's quest to get medicine for his ailing mother.

Overall, the plays have a very ritualized quality; three of them make use of a chorus. The stories told in these plays have the flavor of parables. Overall, I found these pieces very intriguing, particularly in a post-Cold war context.

It's readable
Even though this book is specified to GaAs, it still covers the general processing of semiconductors. This book is helpful for beginners for understanding the fundamentals of the processing. However, the references of this book are not updated since it was published in 1990. The index is poor; therefore you may not find the topic you want through the index but it is there.

Where is your treasue? Here, heaven? ALL of the treasures of this life will eventually be gone; however, there is one treasure that we can have for all time. This book is a very poignant reminder of this fact. Very well written. It appears to be written for children, but is not necessarily intended for children.
