Eat like Elvis!
It's probably not the best idea to eat like Elvis all the time, but nothing beats his recipes for peanut butter and banana
sandwiches or fried okra. Elvis sure loved his fried foods. Learn how to make Southern cuisine and mouth-watering desserts fit
for dinner at your own Graceland, but don't over do it. After all, Elvis didn't end up a skinny-minny from eating all that fried
chicken cooked in pancake batter. (...)

Mother in Law Loved it!
My mother in law is an Elvis fanatic, so I thought this would be cute to add to her Elvis things. Since recipes come from his cook and plenty of pictures alot have never seen. She actually uses the recipes too. She loves it.

Required Reading
The author, Walter Middleton, was a good friend of my dad's when I was a kid. At about age 10, full of the idea that war is really grand (common among red-blooded males of that age and beyond, it seems), I started bugging Mr. Middleton with questions like, "What did you do in the War?" About the third time I asked, he set me down for about an hour and told me. What I heard changed me forever.

Many of the things Mr. Middleton told me that day are stories included in this book. I warn you, it is un-PC by standards of the current decade, but the author is to be forgiven if four years of treatment as an animal, by animals, has colored his view of the Japanese as a people. Also, the text is rife with colloquialisms, and there are more than a few grammatical and spelling errors. But the intent was not to write a thesis here. It was to record for succeeding generations the unique perspective of the War, the Japanese captors, and our own officers (including the great MacArthur) from the eyes of our enlisted men, who bore the brunt of the War. In this aim, Mr. Middleton succeeds with five stars. For anyone who has never read an alternative history textbook, I rank "Flashbacks" equal to Howard Zinn's "A People's History of the U.S." and James Loewen's "Lies My Teacher Told Me" in importance.

I have ordered a copy of this book for a friend of mine with whom I have had conversations about how most Americans of my generation have no idea what hard times are really like. (I know I don't, not from first-hand experience such as recorded in this book.) I would have sent my own copy to my friend, except that it is a signed copy, and even more importantly because I will want to pass it down to the next generations in my family. This reading is not pleasant, but it is vitally important. The history embodied in this book must be kept alive. Read it and pass it on.

fives years of faith
I just so happen to be the great niece of Mr. Walter T. Middleton. This book was a very heart moving book to read. For a person to go through the treatment that he endured is a miracle. This book is great. He is an outstanding storyteller and this book is a page turner. I would recamend this book to anyone looking for stories during this time perod.

Magnificant!
This book is without a doubt the best non-technical description you will find on the geologic/tectonic evolution of the North Cascades of Washington State, and I am certain it will remain so for several years. The information presented in this book is synthesized from more than a century of field work conducted by numerous investigators, not least of which include the authors. I would recommend purchasing two copies (as I have): one for your library bookshelf and another for the rough-and-tumble environment of a backpack...

A fine new book about the North Cascades in Washington State
This superb book is a guide to the geology and natural history of the North Cascades-a wild, nearly roadless mountain range in northern Washington State. The book is not only an indispensable visitors' guide that describes key viewpoints and outcrop features along roads and trails in the region, but also explains to the novice, how the North Cascades came into being in wonderfully lucid language. It explains the ongoing geologic processes that presently shape this rugged country as well as the long history of tectonic processes that assembled the underpinnings of the range and led to the distribution of the varied rock units exposed on the peaks and gorge walls. The book is exceptionally well illustrated with dozens of exquisite, annotated sketches as well as colored photographs. This is simply the most authoritative and accessible resource available on the geologic story of this unique and beautiful region written by scientists that have spent decades walking and mapping the terrain and puzzling over how it evolved to its present state. It is a peerless quide to the area.

The whole family enjoys them.
My family had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Moisa and his wife at a YMCA resort in Colorado. His message made such an impression on my family we still read the books all the time 2 1/2 years later. Not many books have that kind of staying power.
The themes fit right into our school"s current emphasis on "Character Counts" and are an invaluable addition to any library.

Top on my list of recommended childrens books!
Education is a top priority in our home and Great Eagle and Small One has made a wonderful addition to our library! My six year old son, Jacob, and my 12 year old daughter, Christine, both enjoyed this book and learned from it. Page 41 sums up one very important lesson taught by this book. It states, "So, my young friends, when you see people who are not perfect in body or mind, remember the story of Great Eagle and Small One. The Creator loves them each in a special way." Chapters 6 and 7 explain all about the four kinds of Eagles and have beautiful pictures! Lisa Hader President of School of the Osage Lower El. PTA

Great Prophecies of The Bible
Published in Paperback by Ralph Woodrow Evangelistic Association, Inc. (07 June, 1971)
Author: Ralph E. Woodrow
Amazon base price: $7.00
Used price: $5.90
Average review score:

Truth Revealed
Mr. Woodrow has pointed out that many people have departed from the purity of the simple Gospel (page 165). He uses organized facts to refute "dispensational" misinformation. Woodrow uses details in a clear manner to expose modern false teachings about Daniel's 70th week. He clearly shows that there is not a 2000-year gap in the 70-week period described by the prophet Daniel. Every Bible student should own this book and give it as a gift to anyone they care about. Although I have not agreed with all of Ralph Woodrow's books, I highly recommend the scholarship in "Great Prophecies of the Bible."

Return to History
In a very convincing, well documented way Ralph Woodrow makes clear what is often confusing in the context of the very young futurist approach to explain Biblical prophecy. He instead uses the historical approach, a method which has stood the test of time. The book answers those unresolved questions for a reader curious about a more historical explanation of what has already happened to fulfill Biblical prophecy and what Christians can expect to happen in the future of the Church. Well worth reading.

Going Home
Jim Bridger meets a bunch of Texans who were on their way home from the California gold rush in the year 1853. Jim tells them of some heavenly lush land up for grabs in northern Utah. The Texans purchase some land, go home to gather cattle and drive them to their new home, but during the drive find tons of deathly trouble. Another great read.

The Green River Trail
This one is excellent. I felt like the people in the book were my friends. I hope we see more of these people. The book ended to soon. Ralph Compton is one of the best of the western writers. He makes it seem like you have just dropped in for a visit with these folks. The sound effects are excellent and make you feel like you are there. The story covers 4 cowboys that have come out of the gold fields of California to establish a large ranch on the Green River. They are orginally from Texas and they go home to get to buy a herd to take back to the Green River. What happens to them on their ride to the Green River. There are some interesting plots of the Mormans, and why they try and take over the land. All in all this story calls to be continued.

Healing Conversations: Therapy & Spiritual Growth

This book held my attention, I am anxious to read more
I found the book to be transparent and open. The view we rarely get to see inside therapy sessions from the therapist perspective as well as the clients. This is a must read for those that are considering therapy, it also makes sense for those going into the field of counseling. It enables future therapist to gain insight to the concerns and fears of the client. I enjoyed following the relationship through its course.

A msg of hope, by therapy which welcomes God in the process
A bold expose of her story of deliverence through the ups and downs of a two year journey through therapy with a psychologist/minister, Dorothy Barnes succeeds in her goal of demystifying the process.

MScott Peck opens his book The Road Less Traveled with the statement "Life is difficult." Then proceeds to make the difficulty easier, and easier to accept, by putting it into perspective and giving a book's worth of insight. Likewise, Barnes and Earle make the often scary thought of entering into and navigating through therapy into an avenue of hope.

They accomplish this by introducing new words into our vocabulary, like "carefront" and "enlightened selfishness" to help us understand the hard work of facing fears which are often too difficult to allow into our awareness.

While we usually are terrified to reveal those areas of our hearts where less than noble intentions lie, Barnes reveals them, and lives to tell about it!

More than! admiration for a noble journey, I come away from reading Healing Conversations with a vision of hope.

This book is written in a conversational style that flows well and is very enjoyable to read. I highly recommend it.

One of the best biographies I have read, ever
This book is not only a very thorough biography of Hermann Hesse.

It is also one of the best biographies I have ever read. Among other things, it does a very impressive job of blending Hesse's life and work, explaining how precise parts of a given book were influenced with events in his life, and so on.

I do wish all biographies were as well researched, and as well written, as this one.

Necessary for any serious student of Hermann Hesse
Ralph Freedman ranks with Joseph Mileck, Theodore Ziokowski, and Mark Boulby in his importance to Hesse scholarship. Freedman previously published an important study comparing the fiction of Virginia Woolf, Andre Gide, and Hesse. This biography is a standard against which any future biographies are likely to be judged, composed by a man who has studied the author for many years.

About as real as you can get today
I grew up in the desert of southern Arizona in the 50's and 60's. Surrounded by real cattle and real cowboys. This book rings true. I loved it as a kid. No gun fights, no bar room fights. Ralph paints a soft, rich picture, that is much more accurate then any movie you ever saw. I have purchased several copies to give to REAL good friends.

Business Today, Wrapped in the American West of Yesterday
The Home Ranch is more then a slice of the American West. It's a great slice of business management tucked in the recollections of Ralph Moody's summer on the Batchlett home ranch in 1910. Located near Colorado Springs, the home ranch is a metaphor for today's office. Batchlett sums up every business management theory written when he tells Moody during a trading trip, "You play the hand you draw." And Batchlett's hand is an array of characters that I see in the office everyday. People like, Zeb, quiet and smart, but who doesn't like to be out of sight of Pike's Peak. Hank, a boastrous old cowhand who's always telling everyone how it should be done but not doing any of it. Sid, the fiesty redhead with a fondness for "Jenny Wren", and Trinidad, the arrogant, rhinestone cowboy with the cowards heart. Mix in a manipulative 12 year old girl and a boy who sets his heart on turning a wild stallion into a good cowhorse and you got a recipe for today's workforce.

Stick it next to Covey, Petersen, and Drucker. But don't be suprised if you use it more often then any of them.
