A girl who goes to boarding school to learn responsibility.
Passport to Romance by Betty Cavanna is a really good book. I've just recently read it and here's what I think: This book was really well written and researched. It is about a teenage girl who goes to boarding school in Switzerland. She learns responsibility and also how to take care of her self. I don't like the change in language that Miss Cavanna Throws in every once in a while, Though. If only she would explain the words it would be a better book. Other than that, this is a really good, quality young adult novel.

A nice book to learn about Ethology and Animal Behavior
I'm glad I found this book. It is a very good text to start learning abou animal behavior and ethology. I had the impression tha this book is easier to read and more organized than other books about the subject, especially if you have a Psychology background, since it's approach to the subject dosen't require a lot of Zoology knowledge from the reader, as other books on the subject do.

Comprehensive guide to planets and their cycles
According to the author, this book was originally intended as a companion to her better known work "Transits: The Time Of Your Life". This makes sense, as "Planetary Cycles" doesn't really give the whole picture, even though there is much top quality astrology, psychology and information as to how the cycles of the planets operate.

The book is divided in to 3 sections, "Planetary Cycles And How They Work", "Crisis Years: Ages And Stages", and "Counseling A Crisis". The first and last sections were the most useful to me. In the middle section, although a tremendous amount of hard work has been done to give a balanced picture, I feel there are too many attempts to be specific about the experience of individuals at different ages. The Saturn return, age 29, and the mid-life crisis, age 37-42, are obvious crises and easily identified, but many of the comments about having children, career success or failure, marriage and so on in relation to other ages, often seem rather old-fashioned. I suspect that this shows how much the previously "traditional" patterns have broken down since this book was originally written. It is up to the reader to read between the lines to get a feel of the unfolding patterns as they might relate to them in today's society. Observe them in your own life and other people's.

The basic astrology itself is excellent, but would indeed benefit from being absorbed in conjunction with one of the classic works on transits, such as the author's or "Planets In Transit" by Robert Hand or "Future Signs" by Maria Kay Simms.

A snapshot of Roman life
Pliny the Younger's letters offer a glimpse into the political and literay life of Rome at the height of her power. Included in the letters are two riveting accounts of the erruption of Mt. Vesuvius, and Pliny the Younger's correspondance with the likes of Suetonius and the Emperer Trajan. A beautifully made book with both English and the original Latin.

a feel-good book!
The title of the book says it all. Notice how "controversy" or "queer" are not in the title; it's neither just a debate or some postmodern radicalism. This book is best for gay men and lesbians just coming out. It's all about being positive about supporting gay rights and being a part of the community and coming out to straights. I particularly liked this book for its section on lesbians and gay men of color. This was a nice, easily read anthology.

Six sections cover it all
Definitely a good book to learn ebXML and its role in the Web services world. Don't worry if you are not familiar with technologies such as SOAP, or UDDI, the book covers it all.

The first section begin with an introduction to ebXML and modeling techniques, followed by the introduction to SOAP. The next five sections go in great detail with topics such as BPSS, ebXML registries/repositories, UDDI, ebXML Messaging, Security and so on.

Overall, covers ebXML nicely.

Cinderella
Back Cover description: She knew it was time to leave! Determined to break the stranglehold of a selfish stepmother and stepbrother, Becky left home. She'd begin nursing again; make a home for herself and Pooch and Bertie, the pets she'd brought with her. Then at dawn on a rainy highway, fate took a hand--fate in the form of Baron Raukema van den Eck. His mother needed a nurse and Becky filled the bill. Only one thing marred her new life. Poor plain Becky fell desperately, hopelessy in love...

Becky is a nurse, the Baron is a doctor. This is the second story of Ms. Neels's that takes place in Norway. For the first part of the book, Becky and the Baron's mother go to Norway, then Holland/Netherlands. The descriptions of Norway, Holland and the country travelled through are good. You feel as though you've gone on the trip too. The story moves along, nothing feels rushed, and love wins in the end, what more could you ask for.

Highly Informative & Very Easy Read
The format of this book made it a joy to go through. I could quickly & easily scan the contents for the topics that only interested me. Then, later on, a much greater level of detail is provided for those who wish the technical versus the "reader's digest" version! Everyone over 40 should read this book -- it addresses arthritus & many of the health issues & inconveniences of aging! I have followed the recommendations in this book with remarkable & noticable changes in my level of endurance & stamina within a few months!

One of the better ones
Back Cover description: How could she fall asleep during his lecture? It wasn't the best way for Nurse Lucy Prendergast to attract the attention of distinguished consultant Fraam der Linssen, especially when the attractive Dutch doctor kept appearing in her life--at the hospital, at her home and in Holland when she went on holiday. If only he were equally aware of her! But that wasn't likely, for far prettier girls were obviously his for the asking!

Better than average Betty Neels story. Yes, she's a nurse in training and he's a surgeon and the story is familiar--clueless heroine and silent hero, but a good, comforting read.
