Rock-solid textbook for non-math majors
I used this book for my MBA statistics class recently. This book is very well written in a clear way, not meant to be fancy but to provide a comprehensive coverage of most, if not all, relevant topics. I also belive that the coverage depth of each topic is adequate enough to satisfy all common business and economics applications.

The best way to learn statistics
This book bring us statistics in a simple way, begining with easy exercises and increasing them to hard tasks. I have tried a lot of diferent books, some of them in Portuguese, and this was the only one that is realy good enough to teach us without a tutor or professor. It brings the most important parts of statistics for Business and Economics using exercises that talk about real cases and real hypothesis testing. It was easer to learn from this book than to do it in my own language.

Should be on a "Best Seller"list
A book of this magnatude needs to be on the best seller list.
It is written with an insight that only comes from many years of experience as a victim of Domestic Violence. The authors discriptive technique allows you to feel and see vividly the emotions that she as well as others in her book have gone through...A need to read book by all individuals who feel that they are alone in this cycle of violence. And also a need to read by those whose cannot believe that such a life exists. All need to read what the authors solutions are for survival.

The most honest revealing book in years
I was not able to put this book down until I completed it.
Betty DellaCorte memoirs of her life growing up in Brooklyn and the abuse she endured in her second marriage took my breath away. The book describes how she gathered those who were going through the same situation, helping them to rise up out of the ashes to create one of the first Battered Womens shelters in the Country. This book was far better than "The Burning Bed", or any book on Domestic Violence that I have read. In her book she shares her Faith in a Higher Power, and how that gave her the strengh to restore her life and that of her children.
After reading this book and reading the last review I did not think I was reading about the same women or book. I contacted the Attorney General Office in Phoenix, and the Shelter she created and heard the most glowing stories of what she and the people who worked at the Shelter had done for the community.
Anyone can call their offices and get the same information that I did. The sick person who wrote this last review sounds as if his wife must have gone through her shelter, and he is trying to get back at the people who helped her...people can be so hateful, and in such denial about their own problems This is a must read book....By the way, more reviews such as the last one only makes people want to buy the book, I'm sure it's helping Betty DellaCorte sell more books...

This is a great new Christmas classic for all ages!
What a great book! This is a book we will read to the children every Christmas as we set out our snacks for Santa. We now have a new Christmas tradition that we can all share as a family. We recommend it to all families with children or grandchildren.

An enchanting new story of the night before Christmas!!!
The illustrations and rhyming type story are classic and full of emotions. The story of a classic family tradition. I always wondered where this tradition had come from and now I know. The illustrations are beautiful and full of life. Everyone that reads this story with there family will love it and probably read it day after day during the Christmas holidays.

( IN MEMORY OF KIM THI LE PHAN ), THANKS, BARBARA

For those who WANT to be happy after experiencing loss.
Elizabeth Brown very honestly shares her walk down the dark road she must travel after the death of her daughter, Leanne. Ms. Brown reminds her readers that in the grief process there are choices to be made: to hold tight to your joy and blessings or to wallow in misery and allow tragedy to extend in other ways. I read this book shortly after my nine-year-old son was killed in an accident. I was inspired to hear that yes, you can be happy again after the loss of one as special as your own child. Most importantly, Sunrise Tomorrow reminds us that when we are experiencing loss, we are never left alone in our suffering, God has never been closer. In addition, there is solid advice for friends and family on how to help. A guide for planning services and support is included. Ms. Browns comments on how children who were friends and siblings of the deceased child will be affected are right on the nose. Sunrise Tomorrow is a "must read" for the bereaved and for the people who love them.

Wondefully touching story of the importance of belonging
This is one of my favourite books, (and my two childrens'). The story of a bear who cannot see the forrest for the trees and who feels left out because he is different and imperfect is wonderful for children to begin to experience the importance of individuals for their own special characteristics.

This book is great
This book really shows a kid that a family can be made up of just about anyone...my kids loved this book.

The Story of a Caregiving Hero
This is the story of a wife's eleven year journey with her husband through his Alzheimer's experience, from the very early stages when he was diagnosed through three very difficult years when he became incontinent, almost immobile, and violent. The nursing home was an option that was always put off with "maybe I can go on a little longer", and then Betty's husband died of a heart attack. I read this book in March 1995 also, and I wrote this comment in a notebook: "This book makes me feel that I too can go on a little longer with things as they are. I just don't think I can put my mother in a nursing home--not yet, and this book inspires me with the kind of love it takes to hold on longer."

Invaluable!
This book was originally published as "To Hold a Falling Star" and IS NOW PUBLISHED AS "Catch a Falling Star : Living With Alzheimer's". It IS available here at Amazon under the new title. (Yay!)

I bought a hardcover edition of this book years ago out of sheer curiosity. While I was browsing through the bookstore, this was a featured selection & I flipped through. What interested me the most, at the time, was the format of Betty's book. It is truly a diary, short & sweet, with a drawing accompanying each entry. Not only is it a touching story, but it is also very educational. It explains the tasks of a caretaker in a way that anyone can understand. At the end of each chapter, there is a list of things to remember---a mix of legal, personal, & spiritual things.

Ironically, shortly after I purchased the book, my grandmother suffered another of many strokes. This one caused her to act as though she had Alzheimer's. Doctors labelled it "dementia" & theorized that it was caused by a dislodged particle of plaque that travelled to her brain.

Although Granny wasn't as progressed as an AD patient, she relied on my parents to care for her from then on & she never recovered. Just like a person with AD, she would be acute in some areas (beating everyone at dominoes) while being completely "not there" in others (not bathing, not eating yet perking up whenever ice cream was around.)

Betty's book helped to serve as a warning of things my parents could expect & ultimately had to deal with at one time or another.

Absolute best first Bible
I was so sad when this book went out of print. I have used it for my three children and look forward to using it for my fourth. My oldest child quit using it when he was four, but then started again when he began reading at age 6. My 5 year old daughter reads it to my toddler. It is the best for scripture memory and identifying with Jesus! I started reading it to each of my children at about 4 months, sitting with them a few times a day and also using it during changing table times. I have bought many copies for new mothers and wish it would come back into print.

EASY-TO-LEARN BIBLE VERSES/Great pictures for children
This is an excellent first bible for children. The bible verses are easy to remember, with the colorful pictures-and stories relating the verses to every day life. Watch your child gleam, when they recite the verses, by looking at the pictures. A MUST for your children's library.

I Found Nana's Recipes !
Terrific ! Finally a cookbook that has great recipes that grandma used to make !
I also like the explanations and history behind the formulas.
It doesn't just throw the recipes at you, instead the sections are well organized and logically categorized with an easy to follow index.

Not fancy, just the basics of traditional Jewish cooking.

Betty Goldberg's book can sit right next to Betty Crocker's on my bookshelf !

A Great Cookbook for Novices
This is a terrific cookbook for people new to Jewish cooking, as well as for anyone who wants to know the history or significance of a dish or is looking for a recipe that tastes "just like Mom's." There aren't any fancy recipes or bizarre ingredients here--just good, traditional Jewish homecooking. I have a lot of Jewish cookbooks, but this is the one I always end up turning to. It's easy to find just the sort of recipe you need, and you'll love the explanations, backgrounds and variations of recipes like kugels, latkes, blintzes, knishes, kreplach, knaidlach, briskets and, of course, chicken soup.

A highly original book by an even more original voice.
In a time when books are read then forgotten as easily as crisps at a cocktail party, at last there comes a tale to keep you thinking long after 'THE END'. Chock full of charming characters, interwoven with the skill of a master storyteller, The Twin is a book high on my list of recommendations. A stunning read.

Glory and Rapture Are Real Places
A truly interesting family story set in the towns of Glory and Rapture,Mississippi. An old and established family is turned on its head when a long-lost son (or is he?), an albino named Collie shows up on Birdie's doorstep and a chain of events leading up to a surprise ending is set in motion. This book is well written and the imagery and language are a delight. The characters are interesting and unusual, yet real. Even if you don't live in the South, you've met these people. Decay, decadence, divine intervention or the lack thereof, all play pivotal roles in this delightful novel.

My son's favorite book!
My son & I found this in the library and subsequently bought our own copy, we love it so much. A lot of fun, especially when Tex arrives and eats the pot of beans, pot and all!

Friendly T-Rex meets cowboys in the old west.
A wonderful book. I read it to my son every night until we had to return it to the library. Get a copy to keep for any three year old who's into dinosaurs.
