Thank Heaven for redheaded Vicar's daughters!
COVER: "When the vicar's daughter met the surgeon......
Florence Napier thought Alexander Fitzgibbon a cold, humorless man. The eminent surgeon had hired her as the new nurse for his private practice, but he didn't seem to like her.
Nor was Florence at all sure she liked him. Still, she had to admit he was a dedicated doctor, generous with his skills and considerate toward his patients.
Slowly Florence began to notice that many of Alexander Fitzgibbon's actions contradicted his aloof demeanor, revealing a man who was as attractive inside as out. So it shouldn't have been a surprise when she realized, one day, that she'd fallen in love with him........"

I love Betty's books about tall striking redheads who are very plain spoken with feisty tempers and sparkling eyes. The heroes almost never see the blow coming! :) The heroine speaks to them directly and bluntly, using none of the fawning admiration with which they are usually surrounded. Florence is skilled, hard working, generous and kind. She considers Alexander right out of her league, and resigns herself to a life without him. Alexander fights his attraction to Florence so skillfully, hiding behind a cool professional manner, that when he finally realizes the depth of his feelings he has a time of it convincing Florence. This is a story full of lovely, warm, wonderful people who will restore your faith in the goodness of people and the value of a kind and charitable soul.
This warm soothing story will be the expected balm that Neels' loyal readers crave and will be a special treat to new readers. There is nothing quite like a redhead who has been rubbed the wrong way !! :)

Another great book from my favorite romance book author!
Betty Neels is without doubt my favorite romance book author and Romantic Encounter is one of her best books and I really liked the characters a guy, Alexander FitzGibbon and a lady, Florence Napier. I recommend this fantastic book very highly!

Favorite book as a child
When I was a kid I made my Mom read this story to me over and over. It was a classic with my family. This is one of those books that is just fun for everyone.

I thought it was good because it was really funny.
Larry was a very believable character and the situation he found himself in made me smile. Larry was scared he would lose respect from his friends by being in an underwear commercial, but he gained it from all. This was a perfect book for me - a 9 year old, 3rd grade girl.

THIS BOOK IS GREAT
The Secret Window By Betty Ren Wright read by Heather Hansen It's a great book- I loved it. I read it 17 times and i'll read it again and again. It's a book about a girl (named Meg) who has a window in her dreams that tells her the future. when she has the dreams, she writes them in her book, wher she has hundreds of dreams kept in it. She has a friend named Gracie. Gracie has a friend named Linda who invites Gracie and Mag over for a party and a sleepover. At the party... Meg's mom and dad get in a fight, and Meg's dad leaves to find himself. Her grandma comes over and...I recommend thes book to a person at any age. When my mom read it she liked it. What I like about it was when she gets a new friend, and when her brother gets a scholorship. What I hate about it is at the party, cause the are smoking grass.

A book about dreams...and growing up
This book centers around the life of 12 year old Meg Korshak and her uncanny ability to have dreams that come true -- all while dealing with her father leaving to "find himself", her mother and brother's struggle to make ends meet, the tension of wanting to be part of the "in" crowd vs. just being yourself, and of course, the fact that having these dreams makes her "different". A hidden treasure -- if only it were still in print!

tops in the field
this impeccably researched book is the definitive guide to the field of self-taught/outsider/folk/ (whatever you want to call it) art...if you buy one guide, make this the one (and get the new bibliography by the same authors to go with it) this is my travel and research bible

An exceptional resource book for the collector
This book has it all. If you are looking for a particular artist, gallery, state by state list, this is the book for you. Sellen's descriptions of the artists' works are very informative. Although there are no photos, it's easy to imagine the artwork. Many of the artists can be contacted directly and even by phone in some instances. I highly recommend this publication. It has it all.

Excellent book! Worth the money!
Betty does a great job interpreting the past for us in Stamper Footprints: Eleven Generations. She provides references for all her data (something other Stamper books I've purchase have been lacking) and includes old photos, transcriptions of wills from the oldest ancestors and in some cases actual photocopies of legal documents. In addition, she has included some history of the area and times, and explains how life was conducted in those times. A great book. She has done a terrific job. FYI: This book explores the lineage of John, Powell, Jonathan Sr., Jonathan Jr.. Unfortunately, my lineage is from Jonathan Jr.'s brother and that is not followed in this book. But the information on John, Powell and Jonathan Sr. is excellent!

marvelous
If you are Stamper lineage , this book is a must. I was so intrigued by Betty's book that I wrote my own, beginnning with Philip and following my lineage through. You will enjoy this book , so do try to acquire it. Betty is s great person.

this is an amzing and very practical book!
this is such a great book if you are looking for a book that gives basic developmental guidelines for reading AND some wonderful activities to do with children! the focus is on children birth to 3rd grade! I absolutely LOVE it!

Excellent Kindergarten Resource
As a Kindergarten teacher, I have found the Starting Out Right book to be one of the best resources that I have ever used in my classroom. The text is very easy to read and very user friendly. The activities are great for any teacher making the changes in education. I only wish that I had found this book years ago. I would recommend this book for any teacher who is teaching reading strategies. In fact, my district is purchasing this book for ALL kindergarten teachers for our personal resource library.
