If I owned only one book for my children, it would be this.
This beautifully told story, with its enchanting illustrations, tells of a little kitten named Miou. Little Miou is in the care of the wise, old Oshiva, living in a great castle of cats. Miou observes and plays with the other cats in the castle, all of whom live in the castle at different stages in their lives. Some are young, some are old, and some are in-between. Miou gets a bit scared when she sees some of the older cats doing big things, like leaving home on their own.

The young kitten shows the fear that many children have about doing things on their own. Most children have worries about the big steps in life, that are so close, yet far away enough to seem extremely daunting. For a small child, things like middle school must be intimidating, much less the notions of driving and leaving home someday.

Miou's worries are similar -- and she is comforted by Oshiva's wisdom. Oshiva lets the little one know that the big steps will only come when you are ready for them to come, taking the fear and apprehension out of change.

This book is a jewel. My mother must have read this beautiful book to me every night for years. The illustrations are so lovely, and the castle is captivating. If I owned only a single book for my own children, it would be this one. Enjoy.

In The Sporting Tradition: The Art of Herb Booth
If you are into the out of doors and enjoy hunting and fishing then this is a book for you. The art of Herb Booth featured in the edition is outstanding. Not only do you get a fine insight into this artist but are shown the excellent examples of his work as well. The book is filled with oversized high quality color plates showing almost fifty of his pieces. Although wonderful in itself you also get almost 100 black and white line drawings that support the main featured art. These range from fish to birds to hunting dogs. You will also find many of the etchings that Mr. Booth is so famous for. This publication has quickly become a valued addition to my library. I could not be more please with it's quality and content.

Informal Reading Inventory Review
I have been using the Burns and Roe Reading Inventory for 6 years. As a Primary Reading teacher, I find it a very useful tool for classroom teachers to use for providing instruction at a child's point of need. I also use the assessments as benchmarks, to show growth in reading skills at various points in the year. This inventory is easy to use, and is very accurate.

A valuable asset
This book is a valuable reference for RNs, LVNs and nursing students. I first became aquainted with Ingall's and Salerno's "Maternity And Child Health Nursing" as an LVN student, I am now an RN in a busy perinatal unit and still refer to it often. It contains virtually all the information needed to come to a basic understanding of this complex topic.

A sweet romance
If you have never read a Betty Neels book, this is the one to start with. I loved this book, it is like reading a fairytale. This story is about Katrina, a big girl who keeps telling herself that she is happy with her life, until she meets Dr. Simon Glenville. She hates him at first sight, and yet he is always with her everytime she needs him. What she doesn't know is that he has fallen in love with her. It's a sweet romance that will make you stock up on Betty Neels' books.

LYA LUFT ROCKS!
Lya Luft is a little known, but terrific author. I was introduced to her works in a Women of Brazil class led by an astounding proff. P. Sharpe. Since then, I have read anything and everything by Luft that I could get my hands on. Island of the Dead still seems to me her most powerful work, maybe because it was the first one I read, but... In 150 pages, Lya Luft manages to put so much about human relationships, about love, about woman's struggle in the world of societal pressures, it's nothing short of miraculous. Very gothic and alluring, and absolutely a must read!

:)
Jade Carrington was not left with much choice when one of the King's men attacked her. She knew the only way to defend herself was to kill her attacker. Now Jade must face her punishment. She was to be auctioned as a slave.

Matthew Hunter knew that he would pay whatever it took to win Jade. Unfortunately, Matt was not the only one that wanted Jade. The Frenchman that Matt outbid had every intention of having Jade whether he won the auction or not. Matt and Jade rode deep into the wilderness where they not only had to stay hidden from the Frenchman, but also from the Indians who were planning an attack of the white people.

Matt and Jade face many dangers as the struggle to survive in the wilderness and at the hands of the enemies. Their strength, honor, and love get them through the worst. The story of Matt and Jade is about survival and so much more. The danger keeps you on edge from page to page. This is a book I do not hesitate to recommend.
