The Ghost Witch by Betty Ren Wright is wonderful you can read it anytime or anywhere. Jennys mom's friend died and so Jenny and her mom inherit the lady's house and are going to move in unless they don't want to. Jenny meets the ghost witch and wants to stay in her apartment rather than move, but her mom wants to know why. At Jenny's school they are going to have a Halloween dance and afterward Mr. Barker is going to have a haunted house, so Jenny makes a deal with the ghost witch that she stay there and haunt there rather than stay at Jenny's house. They agree and Mr. Barker earns money from scaring so many people. In the end the witch is too tired to even make one more monster and tells Jenny that she needs to rest so she can make better monsters for next years Halloween. I can't put it down!
I greatly appreciate this book--it's a wonderful introduction to famous composers, plus a valuable resource for Christians who want to start or add to their collection of GOOD Christian music. Be a counter-cultural Christian--toss out the CCM and fire up Schutz, Bach, Handel, and the rest! Your mind and spirit (not to mention your neighbors) will thank you for it.

Excellent Source for Homeschool Music Education
This book is complete with each classical music composer, history of the life and works of music. It is written to aide people in historical facts of the composer, facts that are not normally shared in education. For example, many of the composers had a deep Christian influence in their music, and wrote for the Glory of God and stated so on origional music sheets. The book can be used for a complete classical music history education from early ages all the way up to senior high students. This is the only book needed for music education. It works extremely well in tying in facts in all areas of history. It is very well put together and informative.

Girlhood Embroidery: American Samplers & Pictorial Needlework 1650-1850

Expensive, but worth every penny!
Have had this set in my library for over a year, but cannot say I have read every page ... but have used is for information gathering AND JUST PURE PLEASURE. A big "Well Done" for Ms. Ring!

Complete guide to an important period of needlework history
Betty Ring is a renowned needlework historian who really knocked herself out for this complete look at American needlework from the 1650s through the 1850s. While this two-book set may seem expensive, rest assured it's filled with color and black and white photographs of samplers, paintings, and newspaper clippings about needlework during this 200-year period. The writing is thick -- not a "day at the beach" reader, but is chock-full of information for the different time periods and areas of the U.S. covered here (the East Coast, mostly New England). There are no patterns here to follow, nor are there many descriptions of the stitches themselves. This book gives unique insight into the origin of outstanding pieces of art/needlework, and discusses at length the history of the schools that taught such work.

great kids book
I remember first getting this out from my school library in fourth grade (I'm a high school senior, now). I can't honestly remember if I liked it then or not, but I know that when I reread it in maybe seventh grade, I loved it. I know I was always wishing I would pull down my shade one day and a note would pop out (but, alas, it never did happen ;-)

Lately I've had the urge to read it again, and need to do some searching around for it. But this is an awesome book, and even though I'm not one for mysteries, I couldn't put it down.

One of my all-time favorite books, grades 5-7
I've been looking for this out-of-print book for _years_ and AMAZON.COM found it for me. Yeah!

The fun stuff: Capitol Hill in Seattle, a treasure hunt of mysterious clues, a _huge_ Edwardian mansion.

Yet it truly reflects its 1969 publication: Children dealing with civil rights issues, the stress of moving to a 'big' city, discovering crime literally in your own back yard, even a guest appearance by a shell-shocked Vietnam vet. But if someone wanted to make it into a movie, it could easily be set in the present.

NOTE: This book is obviously written about a specific house in Seattle. The book tells us the house is across the street from Volunteer Park near 10th Avenue, and near a cathedral (which must be St. Mark's). If anyone knows which house it is, I've been wondering about this for almost 30 years. Betty K Irwin, are you out there?

An excellent coming of age book for young women.
This has been a very special favorite book of mine for over 25 years. Betty Cavanna writes with wonderful caring and sensitivity of a young girl's struggles with the absence of her mother (died), her red hair and freckles, and a remote father at the critical time of turning 16. And then there is the collie - a runt turned unexpected champion through loving care! It's a book I have passed on to cousins and neices for years. I hope you will love it as much as I do.

A collie book for the Ages!
Anyone who loves collies NEEDS to read this book. IT IS THE BEST!

Very well written with a fabuolous sense of humor
A very inspirational book and a must for anyone interested in the Grand Canyon. Betty's sense of humor captivated me throughout.

excellent treatment of a fascinating subject
Ms. Leavengood delivers a captivating look at the lives of women who helped to shape the Grand Canyon - not geologically, but culturally. These early explorers helped to open up the Canyon for the millions who would follow, and the author does a great job in capturing the both the appeal of the Canyon and of the women who first made the trip. This book is a must read for anyone interested in the Grand Canyon or the human spirit.

I Loved This book.
I agree with the other reviewer that this is a wonderful Cinderella type of romance story and no one writes a better Cinderella romance than Betty Neels! The book is about this young English lady named Cressida Preece and she has a nasty step-mother who treats her like dirt but than Cress meets a handsome Prince-Charming in the form of Dutch doctor Aldrik Van der Linus and he falls for Cress and sets out to give her the happy life that she deserves! There are two characters named Tyco and Charity Van der Brons who are friends of Aldrik and they first appeared in an earlier Betty Neels book called the Final Touch and I wish I had known that before I read this book as I would have read it first and than I would have read A Happy Meeting but anyway I did really love this book and I recommend it but just make sure you read A Final Touch first and than A Happy Meeting! I haven't read A Final Touch yet but since every one of Betty Neels books that I have read so far has been great I'm sure it will be great too!

Nobody does Cinderella better than Betty Neels !
This is one of my very favorite Betty Neels books ! Not only does Cressida Preece have a deliciously wicked stepmother, but there is a wonderfully malevolent woman who has set her cap after Prince Charming, the eminent Dutch doctor Aldrik van der Linus, and carries out her mischief with a real gargoyle of an Aunt ! It is all very engaging and rewarding reading. As if the other characters were not enough, you have a good witch very ably masquerading as the doctor's lovely grandmother :) and you get to fondly visit with old friends Tyco and Charity van der Brons from Ms. Neels previous book, The Final Touch. Cressida and Aldrik are so perfect for each other that you can, with little worry, lean back and savor the story that brings them to their happily ever after.
This book is truly enchanting read !

The most fantastic book EVER!
The Hardy Boys are so cool. The Hardy Boy's Ghost Stories is the best out of whole collection. The book gave me a hell of a scare. In my opinion The Walking Scarecrow is one of the best and most scariest stories ever written . I urge all readers to buy this book as it is so excellent. I think Franklin Dixion has out done himself with this marvellous novel.

Terrific Book!
This book has the best spine tingling stories ghost stories ever; I was sort of scared to go back to sleep after I finished a story. I recomend this book to anyone looking for a scream of a good time and a good scare!

A simple joy!
This is a great little book for kids (and adults too!) Reminds me of being a little girl in the local 4-H Club, doing the cooking classes after school. Good recipes and very original artwork.

My Kids Love it!
Not only is this a beautifully illustrated book, but it features really fun, delicious and easy to make recipes. I have two kids who are really picky about what they eat and I'm always on the look out for ways to get them to eat healthy. I am in total agreement with the author who believes that half the battle in getting kids to eat healthy is to feed them in an a relaxed environment.

I'm looking forward to her next book!

Great Zonal Guied For Florida Growing!!!!
This book is a great guide to growing herbs, all year long. The fact that it is broken down into the actual different parts of the state is a great help. Being in the herb business for 10 years, it is nice to see somthing so spacific. In Florida, just a few miles means a difference in temps and weather conditions, this book addresses each in its own right.

An essential need for the Florida Herb Grower!
This book will be the most used reference in your possession if you are trying to grow herbs in Florida. I have an herb business, and it has been a godsend. Ms. Brandies has not only explained how, where and when you can grow literally ALL the herbs and spices available, but she has even divided Florida into North, Central & South growing climates. For those of you who have been struggling with herb books written for the Northeast or Texas, this one fabulous book will save you time, money and frustration.
