This book gives basic grilling information about types of grills, building the fire, accessories and using aluminum foil as well as offering some pretty terrific recipes. Nice to find a grilling book with some everyday dishes, as well as some "company" meals.

It measures 8-7/8 x 10-inches. It is hardback with the nifty spiral binding, that makes it really nice for lying flat in the kitchen! Cover displays a neat 60's styled home in a bright blue background. Made in 1967. Let me just give you a little hint as to what the contents are in this book: Dinner Parties, featuring everything from easy little dinners to classic company dinners; Bright Little Brunches and Lunches, featuring a brunch "Parisienne" and a mixed-foursome lunch; Teas and Receptions, featuring a wedding reception and a small afternoon tea; Casual Get-Togethers, Outdoors and In, featuring a malibu barbecue and the morning coffee break; and lasty Happy Holiday Specials. What I most love about the BC cookbooks is that not only do you get the recipes, but you get all the little details spelled out for you......so many hints and tips on giving a successful party! A great piece not only for the recipes but a neat piece to have displayed!

This is a BEAUTIFUL book on kitchen gardens, with illustrations by Tasha Tudor, and wonderful relevant quotes. Lots of people are interested in kitchen gardens, and, of course, there are other books on them. But they'd have far to travel to compete with this one--combining solid information with delicious illustrations and various other charming tidbits. They would do well by reprinting this one--I wish they could.

For my seventh birthday, my favorite aunt gave me the Betty Crocker's New Boys and Girls Cookbook. I was so excited since I was the eldest of four kids and always trying to find ways to help my working mother. No more simple dishwashing & ironing for me! I was moving up to the position of family "chef"!

My first attempt was the meat loaf recipe from that book. I followed every direction to the letter! And discovered two things: 1) Not everyone likes an entire tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce in their meatloaf and 2) It's alright to alter a recipe to accomodate varied tastes.

Even though my first meal largely became dog food for a dachshund, I went on to try many of the recipes in that book and it became a cherished part of my childhood. The recipes are given in clear detail with variation suggestions and photos to inspire and tantalize. The holiday suggestions in the back of the book were a particular favorite of mine.

Basic cooking terms, measurements, kitchen utensils, kitchen safety and even table manners are discussed at the beginning of the book. This book has a wonderful "retro" feel giving everyone the feeling that Carol Brady, June Cleaver or some other perfect TV mom is about to come to the door to borrow a cup of sugar. Kids today can definitely benefit from the basic knowledge and simplicity of this book.

After the first three recipes that we tried turned out perfectly and tasted far better than our high expectations, this cookbook quickly became our family's favorite. The recipes are easily followed, contain common ingredients, taste delicious, and are delightfully nutritious. We find ourselves substituting beans for meat often these days. The bean recipes are very filling. We especially recommend the Black Bean Lasagna, Olive Lover's Pasta, and Italian Bean Soup.

I have found this book to be very helpful in my endeavor to eat healthy. The recipes are EASY and very tasty. There is great variety. The articles at the beginning of the book are a helpful resourse and reminder on what it takes to eat healthy and to lose weight in the process. I would highly recommend this book to anyone wishing to change their eating lifestyle. The recipes are for "normal" foods, and do not require a lot of "specialty" foods to purchase. I was also impressed with the EASE of the recipes. None of them are very complicated, which fits well into my lifestyle.

Compare this book with similar titles written in recent years, and you will find that sometimes the old ways truly WERE best! Most of the newer books list the same old handful of tired games revised to fit this or that birthday theme (e.g. "Pin the Alien on the Spaceship" instead of "Pin the Tail on the Donkey"). By contrast, the games in this book are ones that children truly love to play, just for the excitement of the games themselves!

Yes, some of the information in this book is definitely dated, but it will still help you plan the most enjoyable party your child has ever had. I spent a year kicking myself for not having stolen this book from our library before they chose to discard it (if only I had known that they were planning to!!!) Then it dawned on me that I could use the internet to find my own copy. Thank you, worldwide web! :)

These recipies are delicious and easy. If you are looking for some good pasta dishes without having to buy a ton of ingredients, you will enjoy this book. I have made several of these dishes and they are turning into some of my families favorites! They are good for after work and for entertaining without getting too involved. I would reccomend this to all pasta lovers!

Don't know what to do with that chicken in the fridge? Turn it into soup. There are 100 excellent receipes in this book for stews and soups. You gotta find at least one that you will like.
