This was an excellent book dealing with kids and poetry
I enjoyed reading this book. I thought it was well written and good for my age group. It had a lot of good problems and resolutions and I thought the ending was great. I would recommend this book to girls who like poetry.

When God Calls, Sister Betty Listens
Sister Betty has always considered herself a woman of God, so she is not shocked to receive a phone call from God himself. What is even more shocking is how she behaves after the call. Once a self-centered woman, she becomes more caring, and more cognizant of others feelings. She also has some revelations that forever change her life and the lives of those that attend the Ain't-Nobody-Else-But-Us-All-Others-Going-To-Hell-Church.

In author Pat G'orge-Walker's new book, SISTER BETTY! GOD'S CALLING YOU, AGAIN! she offers a series of vignettes reflecting Sister Betty's efforts to keep everyone in the church on their proper path with God. All of the stories are tied together and offer up a cast of colorful and outrageous characters. My favorite character throughout the book is Ma Cile, she is the grandmother of two mischievous 10 year olds who are constantly testing her nerves and patience. This was something I could relate to, because when I was their age it was my goal to drive adults crazy.

SISTER BETTY! GOD'S CALLING YOU, AGAIN! had me laughing from cover to cover. The author has found a way to marry humor and life's lessons, and the product is hilarious and informative. This is the first time I have read Pat G'orge-Walker's work but it will not be the last. I highly recommend that readers pick up this book and share it with their families.

Situations : A Casebook of Virtual Realities for the English Teacher

Real situations for pre-service English teachers
This book not only describes and helps the new teacher in the English classroom, but any high school classroom. It illustrates many common classroom problems, then helps identify solutions. Some of the situations they accentuate are defending a grade, mandated testing and especially for the English teacher-problems with student interpretation, what to do when the students have read the book before, and numerous others. As a pre-service teacher in college, I can honestly say that after all the droll books on theory and pedagogy, this book can teach you so much more in a real-life approach.

Mesmerizing photographs! Radiches captures more than images
He manages to capture the souls of these legendary performers through his lens. His accompanying captions augment his work and offset the relatively dry text provided by Chapin. I had to purchase two copies so that I could matt and frame Pavarotti and Domingo's portraits.

Southern Potteries, Inc. Blue Ridge Dinnerware 3rd Ed.
This book is hightly recommended for any collector of Blue Ridge pottery. I recently inherited Blue Ridge dinnerware, and never had heard of it before. The photos are excellent in assisting you to learn the name of patterns, or to even match a pattern you may not know the name of. The history provided of how Southern Pottery came to be, their potters/painters , and the official marks used by Southern Pottery were an exceptional value within the book.

timeless tale for girls
Fantastic mystery book for young girls. Besides the 'mystery', which keeps readers interested until resolution, with all the twists and turns necessary in a good mystery, there is a timeless message with respect to making choices about friendships and popularity. Setting and characters are three dimensional. A great book!

Hisrtorical Novel based on Fact. Late 1700 - to early 1800
Drawing upon ancestors notes, Zane Gray reconstructs the agony of America's initial transmontane western movement of the frontier away from the original colonies into the OHIO Valley where Indians and Whites contest for souls and Wetzel, and Indian hunter, pursues his cause in a most dramatic fashion. The book is a riveting account of true adventure the veiled backdrop of which is the continued occupation of the teritory occupied by British and Americans. An excellent introduction to further study of the the then misunderstood goal of Manifest Destiny.

An impressive and enduring collection of vivide poetry.
Stand Still, Summer is an impressive and enduring collection of vivid poetic descriptions of people, places, and seasons by a poetry able to express her fantasies and fancies in a lyrical, memorable language. One Day I'll Know: One day I'll know/The joys that come with tempered age of wisdom,/The peace that comes rewarding careful days,/When (with perhaps a teardrop in the eye)/I lay aside the wild, bright cloak of youth/(A careless youth of unwise, vainglorious acts,/But wild and sweet were morning suns and moons)./One day I'll feel/The quiet calm that follows every storm,/Mature, ripe thoughts that come with only age,/Will come like ripening grapes upon the vine,/Replacing undeveloped thoughts of green/Young years; when glory of the sunset comes/One day.

Wonderfully written, totally engaging.
Quincy Rumpel is a young girl entering the sixth grade with pierced ears, rosy-hued glasses, and a Save-the-Whales T-shirt. As Quincy's father tries to market his latest business venture (the Rumpel Rebounders), she wants to launch a grand plan to advertise the Rebounders and ensure stardom for herself at the same time. But how can she do it? Should she use her newfound talent arising from the school music class? Or perhaps her skills at unicycling or sword-dancing. Or maybe as the star of the school play? Starring Quincy Rumpel is a lively, engaging, and totally entertaining book for grade school and junior high readers. Other highly recommended titles in Betty Waterton's wonderfully written series starring this precocious, energetic, and charming girl include: Quincy Rumple; Starring Quincy Rumpel; Quincy Rumpel, P.I.; Morris Rumpel And The Wings Of Icarus; Quincy Rumpel And The Sasquatch Of Phantom Cove; Quincy Rumpel And The Wooly Chaps; Quincy Rumpel And The Mystifying Experience; and Quincy Rumpel And The All-day Breakfast.

A persuasive treatise on a pervasive food...
A fun, crammed compendium on how this food became ubiquitous--like the apple in our diet. It's forms and functions are seemingly unending. You'll be surprised how much and in what ways you've consumed it. Stock photos, quotes, recipes, postcards: a loving scrapbook and historical tale of corn. If you're a cook, you'll love it. It's like a year of Gourmet magazine with every issue on a different facet of corn. A fun gift to give.
