Farm Recipes
This is a wonderful cookbook for those who were raised in the South. It is full of wonderful recipes for things that you remember eating at Grandma's house! Interesting short articles and pictures of Mrs.Talmadge's life also, but the recipes are superb!

Human Biology: Personal, Environmental, and Social Concerns
Published in Paperback by International Thomson Publishing (June, 1998)
Authors: Judith Goodenough, Robert A. Wallace, and Betty McGuire
Amazon base price: $78.00

Excellent introduction to human biology
This book was the text for an introductory course on human biology I recently took. The book is ideally suited for this purpose due to the following strengths: the writing is clear and concise, the content is interesting, the level of detail offers meaningful depth without being overwhelming, practical information about personal health issues and diseases is interspersed throughout, and the graphics are excellent. Outside of the classroom, I anticipate that many people would find the book suitable and enjoyable for self-study. I suggest buying the hardcover version because the paperback is somewhat flimsy.

Great book for children entering school for the first time!
Aaaaah....this book brings me back 27 years! Things sure have changed since then, but the first year of school for a child is always the same! Step back into my past life and see how a young boy at age 6 views the first grade of school. Follow me on a journey through the first disiplinary action for popping a bag in the cafeteria (by the way...the book is really non-fiction except for what REALLY happened after I did that!), through me reading my first book, and completing my first full year of education! A great book for any child with fears of going to school!

I Hear America Cooking
Author Betty Fussell proves that the way to America's heart is through its stomach in I HEAR AMERICA COOKING. In addition to a section-by-section review of the cuisine of every region of the U.S.with a tempting array of recipies to try, this book shows how the many different cultures that are part of this country have, like the elements of a good meal, maintained their unique flavor while making up an exciting and memorable whole. This is one cookbook that will interest even people who don't cook but love U.S. history or sociology. It's similar to Jeff Smith's FRUGAL GOURMET ON OUR IMMIGRANT ANCESTORS, in highlighting "Grandma's Recipes"--regardless of where Grandma's ancestors came from--but Fussell adds more spice to her presentation by putting regional specialties in the overall context of American cuisine.

I Would If I could
This is one of my all time favorite books. In this book, Patty goes to stay with her grandmother and aunt for the summer. While there, she recieves a bike for her birthday. But, Patty just can't learn how to ride it, no matter how hard she tries. And to make matters worse, it's the ugliest bike, she's ever seen. And worse yet, her best-friends have started a club, but she can't join it unless she learns how to ride her bike. Will Patty conquer her fear of bicyles?

Exactly What 's Needed--A Little Humor!
I discovered this book at my very first appointment with my divorce attorney. I was a little shocked at first, but once I started flipping through it, I so appreciated the humor in it. It's a very quick read with hand written thoughts on each page, some accompanied by illustrations that are also funny. Some of the reflections are laugh out loud hysterical and provide much needed relief given the seriousness of the entire divorce process. Others are words of wisdom that I had honestly never thought of in that way. I have read it many times and keep coming back to get the encouragement you can only get from someone who has been through it herself. It's a mix of humor and wisdom. It makes me laugh and smile, and these days, that's exactly what I need!

I'll Pray for You: A Personal Photo Prayer Journal

Prayers Answered
I'm always telling people "I'll Pray for You". Before I had this journal, I would pray for a few days and then forget.

With this journal, I am reminded on a daily basis of my promises to pray.

And, because I have photos of the people I am praying for placed in the photo pockets of the journal, I am able to visualize them more vividly and pray with more passion.

It is mind-boggling to see just how many prayers are answered!
