Helping health care pros empathize with terminal patients
This book was written mainly for professionals in the field supporting families of terminal cancer patients. Interviews were done and related to help professionals see the experience from the family's point of view. It was a study conducted by oncology RNs. I would definitely recommend this for health care professionals.

I would also recommend this book for families facing life with a terminal cancer patient. I found some comfort in reading about the emotions other people have dealt with in the dilemma of living with and dying of cancer. I didn't find any "answers" in this book, but recognized myself in its pages.

The book is a quick read. It was also overpriced. But I guess that is because it was a clinical study, and not widely marketable.

An important readable classic for YA librarians
I initially decided to read this book because I had heard mention of its historical importance in the field of young adult work. Imagine how pleasantly surprised I was to find that Margaret Edwards was a dynamic, funny writer whose issues in the sixties regarding the state of young adult services has numerous parallels in today's world of teen services! While the text is certainly dated in terms of language and the books discussed, the refreshing attitude of Edwards can still be seen in many public libraries all over the country. This is a great read, intrinsically and historically, and I think many librarians will say, "How little has changed!" Let's hope we all work to further the work that Edwards began.

The basics of weaving, cutting and sewing your own garments.
Betty Beards book is useful to weavers who don't know how to go about weaving clothing. She gives lots of diagrams for laying out the pieces on the cloth using the least possible yardage. Some of the garments need little or no sewing. There are color photos of the garments. The only drawback is the book was written in 1980 and the pictures reflect that style. But with a little imagination, all of the designs can be adapted to todays styles. Examples of the designs include lots of coats, blouses, skirts - even a fluffy boa and a baby bunting. I recommend this book.

Fact is Crazier Than Fiction!
British mystery writer, Melissa 'Mel' Craig, returns in the 2nd book in the Melissa Craig mystery series. This cozy, set in the Cotswolds, shows Melissa trying her hand at teaching creative writing at the local college, becoming romantically involved with one of the other professors there, and becoming entangled in a mystery involving a beautiful woman she met several months earlier. As the mystery unfolds, Melissa finds herself becoming emotionally involved with several of the murder suspects in the case. Once again, Melissa helps Inspector Harris solve the murder, but not until another victim falls to the killer.

I enjoyed the second book in the series even though I was disappointed that Melissa's son was once again absent from the book. Hopefully, he will be present in some of the future books in the series. Overall, this was a great, light read.

The first book in the series is "A Little Gentle Sleuthing". Enjoy!

Fire in the Wind is a Good Book
This book is about Meg and her backwards cousin Orin. Meg always gets in fights when she tries to stick up for Orin and her brother Paul. When a fire burns most of Prescott Falls, Maine (Meg's home town) Orin saves Meg and her brother. Meg and her brother are the only ones who know that Orin set a backfire. When Meg finds out the backfire was probably the thing that saved their barn she realizes that she was wrong when she blamed Orin for setting the fire.

I read this book for a book response project and I think you should read it too.

The Fortunes of Francesca
Storyline is in keeping with the other more than 100 Betty Neels I have but it just didn't seem 100% Neels. It is almost if someone has ghost written it. The plot did not go along as smoothly as all the other Neelses. Cannot quite put my finger on every discrepancy, but there are several. Despite that I enjoyed the story.

The Fragile X Child in 1992
This 1992 piece of work was a landmark for the understanding of this tragic gene mutation. Very little was understood about it and there is still much to learn. Schopmeyer and Lowe explore many aspects of the Fragile X Syndrome including its history, genetics, symptoms, and therapy techniques. As this book was published in 1992 it does contain outdated information such as the use of facilitated communication which was found through double blind studies to not truly work. Despite the improvements that have been made, I would still recommend this book for anyone of whom this syndrome has affected their lives. It gives one a much better understanding of the life of a Fragile X Child.

Frank Frazetta: Book 3

Not quite worth 5 stars
Frazetta continues on in his fine tradition of lush fantasy/sci-fi art, but falls short of the mark in this effort. There are some fine gripping works in this volume like the first and second, but some of them are starting to look tired and uninspiring. Could it be that Frazetta's commercial success is now affecting his talent? Still a must have for Frazetta fans though.

Excellent book on Frank Reaugh
This is one of the few books on relatively-unknown artist Frank Reaugh. Mr Reaugh used watercolors and charcoal to illustrate the beauty of the Texas plain. Landscapes -- especially at sunset -- and , yes, cattle, were his favorite subjects. The book begins with 29 pages of text describing the life and art of Frank Reaugh. Then follows 61 full color plates of his watercolor work. An obscure book on an obscure painter, but very much worth seeing if you like Frank Reaugh or scenes from the Texas panhandle. P.S. "Reaugh" is pronounced "Ray"!
