Excellent book
I love to cook. But, I was looking for a book to keep the flavor without a lot of fat, sugar, and salt. This book covers it all. You don't have to buy a lot of expensive and hard to find items and most of them, you probably already have around (honey, pepper, ketchup, mustard, etc). My favorite is the Korean Barbeque Beef. I substitute it with chicken and toss it with rice. Even my picky kids love it. This is a wonderful book to have.

This Family Pleaser is my favorite everyday cookbook.
If someone told me I'd be reviewing and raving about a cookbook I would have laughed out loud. Every recipe I have prepared from this book has been a success, both from my side and my family's. (I have a fussy nine year old and a plump husband.) Except for a few recipes that have required the planning to marinate overnight, these are quick and easy, tasty and healthful without some member of the family rolling his eyes and saying, "Mom's on a health kick again!" I let everybody pick a recipe when I am planning the menus. Nobody has come back with the "I dunno, nothing sounds good," response which would have been typical before. Fun recipes. Standards.

I love this book.

Wow!
We have lived off of this cookbook for almost two weeks! There are only two of us and the portions are just right to leave leftovers, or to have another couple over. I have planned entire menus for dinner parties! The food is not only lower in fat and calories but it all tastes GREAT, too! This one is a must for beginners to experts!

Betty Crocker's Living with Cancer Cookbook
I actually do not have cancer but am going through chemotherapy treatments for Hepatitis C, and found this book wonderfully encouraging and helpful. I have all the possible side effects and so I have lots of trouble eating. I am on a weekly treatment for a year so there are some days each week whenI can't eat. What I found the best about the book are the great easy recipes and the comments by patients and Dr. Ghosh. I found many recipes which I have already tried and my family loved the results. The recipes are easy and you probably already have the items at home or they are readily available. The book has helped encourage me to continue treatments and given me lots of easy food to prepare for my family.

The Best Manual for Living with Cancer
Having lived with cancer for 8 years and having had over one hundred treatments so far, I am thrilled to find a book that really talks to patients from patients who have lived through the same thing I am going through. This book shares real world recipes that are easy to eat and easy to make. In addition, the recipes have been eaten by patients who have the same problems I have had namely nausea, constipation, mouth sores, diarrhea and special diets such as neutropenia and low residue. The lists of recipes on pages 48 & 49 help me and family members chose food that I can eat AND that will benefit me for the side effects I am going through. This is incredibly encouraging!!! I especially appreciate the Q & A section from Dr. Ghosh and the diet plans for the special diets in the back of the book. Another great feature that I love are the special tips pages such as Snacks (p109), Humor and Healing (p149), Food during Treatments (p207), and Great Gifts (p223). I think this book would be the best gift to give to a cancer patient going through treatment. The best part of this book are the real quotes from real patients on nearly every recipe in the book. This book is a both a manual for Living with Cancer AND an excellent cookbook with tried and true recipes. Thanks Betty Crocker!!!

A wonderful resource
Not only does Dr. Ghosh give good advise and explainations to what is happening to a cancer patient, his recipies are great too. He explains why some things happen and what to do to combat them. This cookbook is not only good for the patient but for the family as well. The notes and question and answer section will help everyone involved with a cancer patient unterstand the issues surrounding the disease much better.

"Shades of Harper Lee"
When I was a kid my mother always reviewed the selections I made on my school book order. When they arrived she would read them, too. I found myself doing the same thing when my own children were in school. I think I have found a wonderful selection for this year's holiday gift giving. Buckaroo not only has a moral lesson that many of us can learn from, but it is a story that pulls at the heartstrings as Preston's life is turned upside down when his mother dies. It tenderly takes the reader through this process through a child's eyes. He still plays, goes trick-or-treating, does his chores and schoolwork, but has quiet times on the front porch swing where he remembers the angel, Mama. Betty Traylor has shown clearly that racial prejudice is a learned behavior. She did a beautiful job of exposing the good that we all have deep within us, although due to culture, geography, and circumstance, it very often remains buried there. Within the first few chapters of the book I was taken back to Mickey Mouse Club days, sitting around a campfire, and hearing Daddy singing "I'll Fly Away." I was held in suspense as her Halloween night events unfolded. For a child of today, this book is pure fiction. For those of us that grew up in the 50s or had children that grew up in that era, this story is a trip down memory lane, back when hero's were Roy Rogers, not Rambo. Betty Traylor captured Arkansas as it really was at that time, and I feel can be considered a gifted southern writer. This is a must read for ALL!

My children loved this story!
I read Buckaroo aloud to my two girls, ages 9 and 13, and they both were enthralled! It was a sweet, tender, fascinatig story about a boy in the 1950s who has to deal with the loss of his mother and a new life in a strange town. Betty Traylor is a gifted writer who really has a way with words! We are hoping to read more of her work in the future.

Heartfelt, fun, and a perfect read for middle-graders
I'm not sure the kirkus reviewer read the same book I did. This is not just beautifully written and authentic. It's the sort of book that entertains a young reader and makes him look at issues in a new way. It's a Tom-Sawyeresque adventure with a true social conscience, but the book is so sincere and so wonderfully rendered that the reader will never forget Buckaroo. A must-read for middle-grade readers, even the reluctant ones.

A Chilling Absence of Love

True Crime Fan Gives it Two Thumbs Up
As a true crime fan, I was excited when the book arrived, a lot faster than I had expected. I immediately delved into it and couldn't put it down. These two women have written a well constructed account of a bizarre murder and kidnapping that happened back in the early 70s. If I didn't know that the two were new writers, I would have assumed they were seasoned pro's of the genre after reading their book. Having worked with women in prison, they had a unique vantage point for becoming acquainted with the details of the lives and crimes of the women they write about. I look forward to "Deathwatch," too.

A CHILLING ABSENCE OF LOVE
I have known Mrs. Hunt and Ms. Smith for many years and I cannot tell you how excited I was to hear that this book finally got published. As a young boy I used to hear a bit about some of the inmates that Betty and Helen worked with and I was always fascinated. I think they have done a terrific job of giving the reader insight into Norma Jean's life and the severity of her crimes. The book makes you run a full gamut of emotions and is something that I was unable to put down. I am thrilled that this book was finally published because I have been wanting to read it for several years. I can hardly wait for the next book by these two wonderful authors to hit the stands.

A Chilling Absence Of Love
I cant tell you enough good about this book--you simply have to read it for yourself. I had read parts of this book some years ago as I live next door to one of the authors. But I had not seen it in years and when each author was sent a copy for approval I latched on to a copy and read it in one evening. The story is based on a true story of the crimes commited by a still incarcerated inmate and some instances are so horrific its unbelievable. I guarantee once you start reading, you wont be able to put it down. The life of this inmate is detailed and after reading this book you cant help but feel bad about her life and the things that happened to her. From the hospital to the courtroom, every page is great!

A Man After God's Own Heart
Dawson Trotman provides an example of what God can do with consistent commitment, purposeful passion, and relentless perseverance. His simple message--profoundly reflected in this book--that memory of and meditation upon Scripture will be a catalyst to a life of significance and service in the Kingdom of God. This commitment led me to reflect more than once throughout the book that all that Daws accomplished was without many of the advantages of today (the Internet, modern communication, etc.). And yet, my conclusion is that his commitment, passion and perseverance led to his significance and that the present day is so lacking in such individuals in large part because of the distractions that come with our heightened advantages. We are but children in the use of such tools. It is like 16-year-olds being given high performance sports cars with nowhere of note to travel. This book has been a major wake-up call for me to take note of the simple message that God's Word is worthy of great personal sacrifice and obedience.

An Motivational and Impacting Biography
Reading Daws opened my eyes to one of the major purposes in God's plan for the life of his people - to reach others with his love. Daws is an extremely well written biography that takes you inside Dawson Trotman's life and experience, but also takes you into his thoughts, showing you how he changed over a lifetime to understand the mission which had captured his heart - to know God and make Him known.

Towards the end, the book grows too focused on events on not on Daws' life, but it is otherwise an impacting, convicting, and inspirational read. A very worthwhile biography for anyone seeking to know God and make Him known.

Vivid story of a pioneer of modern Christianity.
Betty Skinner has written a wonderful, thought provoking book about a true giant of modern Christianity - Dawson Trotman, founder and driving force of the Navigators. From his early days as a rebel and "bad boy" through his conversion and the development of his heart for others to his untimely death saving another person's life, this book challenged me to see in people great potential, but more importantly, to see in myself a call to disciple others - to help others move closer to God in their everyday life. It left me unsettled...but excited to get down to basics - pouring my life into others!

Daily Boost of Positive Energy in a negative world
It's so easy to get focused on what is wrong with the world. I just love opening up this book and reading what wonderful uplifting advice, inspiration & guidance she has to say. I keep sneaking ahead and reading days ahead. And then reading them again when it's their day. I guess I need lots of reminders to remember!

I owe a lot of the positive things in my life to Betty Eadie. I own all her books and the ones by her publishing company. She knows how to make the most of our life. Through her advice, I was able to learn to love above all else. It has been able to help me have a better relationship with relatives and people who don't live in a way I might approve of. And that has made an amazing difference in my life, these past ten years since reading "Embraced".

Today I read a quote from the Ripple Effect in this devotions book. No, "Ripple" is not as good as "Embraced," but each book contains invaluable advice that can help us live a happier, more fulfilled life. From the Ripple Effect, I learned to change the behaviors that I picked up from my family as a child. Her words empowered me to create my own history...to stop negative ripples and create positive ones. Can you put a price on that?

I recommend all her books, including Maniilaq and Souls Remembrance (by her publishing company), to remind us of why we are here and to make positive changes in our lives for the best. When you read the books, try not to think so much in your head as your heart. How do you feel when you read them? Does it give you a sense of peace and joy? Apply them to your lives. If you read them with an open heart, you will have this peace. Even if you have some doubts of the veracity of these peoples' experiences, the advice within can change your life.

A Wonderful Source of Inspiration and Daily Prayer...
Betty's latest is a daily devotional guide. Each page represents a new day and begins with an excerpt from one of her three books (Embraced by the Light, The Awakening Heart, or The Ripple Effect). This is followed by an appropriate inspirational bible verse and then cleverly she continues with a prayer in her own words that interacts with the message from her book and the bible passage. I can't think of a better way to start each morning with a prayer to our heavenly Father. I have found that the daily readings provide me with a fresh outlook and presents my daily routine tasks or problems in a whole new light. Not only that, but her excerpts highlight what the author had experienced during her near death experience without having to go back and read each book. I highly recommend this book to everyone. It would make an excellent gift for friends or family members.

A wonderful start to every day!
I am so glad that Betty wrote a daily devotional. I read it every morning and it just start me off on the right path. My wife and I use it to open dialog on spiritual matters and it has brought us together spiritually more than we ever have been. I highly recomend this book to anyone that is in need of a daily pick-me-up.

A fine compliment to Volume 1
What you get here is basically a continuation of the beautiful works from his first volume. In short, if you loved the first volume, you'll love this one too.

Superb,out of this World Collection
When I was younger I found this collection, hidden in the back of a small store. I saw the Art and immediately fell in love.Unfortunately I lent the collection and never saw it again. Im very happy to have found it again. It will never leave my site again!

This is one of the most amazing art books I have ever seen.
This book is cover to cover magic. These tastefully idealized, and superbly rendered fantasy scenes will astound and thrill you. Frank Frazetta masterfully portrays warriors, maidens and monsters in "larger than life" scenes depicting the peak moment of action. For the artist, art enthusiast, or even book collector, The Fantastic Art of Frank Frazetta book volumes 1-5 are definitely worth adding to your collection."5 stars" is an understatement.

A Story That Will Tug At Your Heart Strings!
From Ostrich To Standing Stone by gifted writer Betty McBee is a wonderful account of one person's ability to turn one of life's stumbling blocks into stepping stones!

From Ostrich To Standing Stone is a 'Must Read' story not to be missed!

A Simple and Engaging Story...
This book tells the story of how Muscular Dystrophy impacts the life of a woman...how the disease unavoidably molds and changes the course of her life...but more importantly, how she meets each challenge that it presents. For someone with this disease, even the small tasks that most of us take for granted require creativity and resolve to accomplish. I was actually on the edge of my seat over some of these everyday events. I was rooting for Elizabeth.

For me it is a simple story, well crafted. It gave me insight into MD that I would never have had without reading it. And perhaps most importantly, it portrays how the most difficult life becomes manageable when built on a foundation of faith in God.

From Ostrich to Standing Stone
Review by QUEST magazine:
In this well-written novel, the author, who has FSH muscular dystrophy, introduces Elizabeth, spirited as a child and as an adult, who's had FSHD since early childhood. The story is a tapestry woven of humor, creativity, spiritual insight, passive/aggressive acceptance, adjustment, struggle, balance, discrimination and, finally, trust.

Elizabeth becomes a teacher and dormitory manager in the inner city. As she faces a variety of challenges, she remains true to herself, motivated by her resolve to move forward even when a future doesn't seem to exist for her. Because of this resolve and her deep faith in God, she leads a life full of emotion balanced by the routine of daily living, always seeking to understand what life is about. Sound familiar?

Green Monkeys Rule!
Michael and Betty Paraskevas have created two more hilarious characters for us to fall in love with. Watch out Laurel and Hardy--here come the Green Monkeys!

Green Monkeys - More fun than a barrel full
Green Monkeys brings together new and previously published episodes of this comic strip into a fun-filled, laugh-a-minute adventure of Spider and Flytrap. Those lucky enough to read Green Monkeys in their local newspaper have enjoyed years of 21st Century wit and humor as only Michael and Betty Paraskevas can create. Satrical and endearing, this book can be enjoyed by children and adults (and especially old, stuffy adults) of all ages.

Everday Humor with Champagne Class
Being a local, east-end Long Islander, I have been familiar with the myriad works of Mickey and Betty Paraskevas for many years. The Green Monkeys' comic strip speaks to the sublime, existential person in us all without catering to a lofty audience. The humor comes from a simple, "I know exactly what you mean", appeal peppered sometimes with an enigmatic twist that makes you stop and wonder for a bit.

Grieving the Death of a Pet

Betty Carmack's book on pet loss is simply wonderful.
The loss of our beloved animal companions is like no other loss. How do we say goodybe to our best friends and cope with the pain and overwhelming grief? Betty Carmack's book truly captures the experience of pet loss and honors the sacred connection we have with our animal companions.

Betty Carmack's Book Hits An Emotional Cord For Pet Owners
I have just finished reading this book any can't say enough positive things about it. Ms. Carmack's book is not a "quick fix" to help someone through the grief process of loosing a pet. It is however, a book for anyone who has a pet, anticipates the loss of their pet or who is currently going through the grief process. Ms. Carmack candidly talks about her own personal emotions concerning the pets she has lost as well as stories of others and their pets who range from cats, parrots, horses, dogs. This is an "easy read" that will capture your attention from the start. You won't want to put it down.

A beautifully written, spiritually based book
This book as touched me like no other ever has. The personal stories were real not text book examples. They authentically showed what it is truly like to love and lose that animal. The spiritual base of the book is woven throughout the manuscript in a way that everyone can relate.
This book has made me think about the impending death of one of my dogs along with the loss of my childhood dog. It was a way to look back and realize that the feelings that I have had all these years were real and were "ok"
I think one of the main themes of this book is that it's "ok" to feel what you are feeling. It's not just a dog, it's part of your family and greiving is natural and expected part of healing.
Betty Carmack also tells us that it's ok to move on. That we will know when the time is right to get the next pet.
I also liked how it didn't just focus on dogs or cats, there were people who were greiving the loss of their beloved bird.
This is a must read for anyone who has a pet or who has lost a pet. I will recommend this book to everyone I know.
