Great for kids of all ages!
My kids have all loved this book from the age of 16 months. Most toddlers love to find the "banana" (or many other items on each page) when asked to find the banana. Every year they will find some new picture that they never noticed before. My five-year old is into "pirate", while my 18-month old loves the "hundred" stars. There is so much to look at on every page! I will give this book as a gift to my nieces and nephews for years to come.

Great dictionary for young children!
The best thing about this dictionary is that it has a picture for EVERY word. It allows children who are not reading yet to identify the words by themselves. In addition, this dictionary is in alphabetic order. I have looked through numerous 'picture' dictionaries which group words in subject (i.e. science, nature, body, etc.) To me, this is confusing if you are trying to truly look up a word. As well as the other 'picture' dictionaries did not have pictures for every word. This is wonderful for my kindergartener to be able to look up words on her own. In addition, her school is working on letters each week and she is able to look up words for the letter of the week to get ideas of items she can bring in! I think this dictionary should be a required book for children starting school, it's GREAT!

Nourishing Nuggets: Insights into God's Word

Author: Betty Lou Weaver
Amazon base price: $14.50
Average review score:

These bold messages awaken us to call of Christ. Must read.
Betty Lou is filled with Spirit-power. She excites and invites us to a deeper knowledge and understanding of the Holy Scriptures. Her messages are bold and designed to awaken us to the call of Christ in our lives. This is a must-read!

A refreshing book full of substance & truth from God's Word.
It is an honor to be the first to review Nourishing Nuggets on this web page. Like the title suggests, this is a delicious and very filling "meal" broken down into manageable bite-size pieces!

One thing I really appreciate about this book is that it is reader-friendly --- full of substance and truth, but written in short, simple to read chapters. Though I finished it in one sitting, I really think it would make a GREAT devotional.

Nourishing Nuggets presents God's Word in a simple, down-to-earth way that meets us where we are,but challenges us to grow in our relationship with the Lord. Each chapter not only presents a Bible truth, wrapped in scripture, but also shows us how to apply that truth to our everyday walk with God. Consecration, holiness, faith and victory are recurring themes of the book. [One note: Have some tissues ready for Chapter 17: "It is Finished."]

I was privileged to sit under the teaching of author Betty Weaver for many years and am thrilled to now have a small part of her knowledge and wisdom in written form at my disposal in this powerful little book. It doesn't take many chapters to realize that the author has truly heard from God and has lived the pages she has penned. I think this adds a refreshing, genuine quality to the book that is unmistakable.

I highly recommend this challenging, inspirational, and thought-provoking book of nourishing little nuggets for every day life.

I dare to speak English because this book.
If you have the basic knowledge of English grammar and vocabulary, this book is definitely for you. The first complex phrase that I dared to speak in front of the native English speaker was from this book. The questions that I asked frequently in the public were from this book. The topics that we talked a lot were also from this book. Even I learned some very useful phrases from this book for flirting with the people who I like and turning the people who I dislike down in chat-room. This is a must-have book for the learner of English.

An excellent book for learning Amercian spoken English
I strongly recommend this book for those who (especially, international students, businessmen and tourists) would like to understand American spoken English and express themselves using American spoken English. All the everyday expressions are arranged according to real situation. You can learn everyday expressions very effectively by reading and using this excellent book!

An excellent read that gives good historical perspective.
This is lovely book that gives a personal account of Betty Grebenschikoff and her experiences as a child fleeing Germany during World War II. A good book to read especially in our present day to give understanding to the plight of Jewish families around the world. The author also does book signings and lectures around the country. I have heard her speak and that made the book have even more valuable to me.

Stunning memoir of a Jewish girl and her family during WWII.
I was deeply moved by this life story of Betty Grebenschikoff. She moves through her life rather quickly in 180 pages, from girlhood in Germany to being a grandmother in New Jersey. Her story is told simply, but extremely well with it's details of daily life and the family's travels while fleeing Germany. Throughout the book, you find yourself counting your own blessings in life. The handful of family photos at the end are a bonus.

Another fine addition to the "Best of Watercolor" series
This is another impressive collection of superb watercolors. The editor has consistently gathered together quality, well-crafted paintings in all of the "Best of Watercolor" series books. It is not only a useful tool for the artist who is trying to work on the area of composition, but is also simply a beautiful collection of watercolors, which are diverse, rich, and a joy to view.

Grat work by both regional and national watercolor artists-e
Great work by both regional and national watercolor artists. I especially liked the overview it offers of watercolor-related techniques and media that are sometimes used by the artists embellish otherwise traditional watercolor compositions. Subjects range from the abstract to the realistic and offer many ideas to help the artist (or the art appreciator) see the variety of compositional techniques available to fine watercolor artists.

Spellbinding!
This book was intriguing and kept me reading! I could not put it down. It was especially interesting since the cemetery is nearby. The pictures are spine tingling! I recommend it!

There is life after death!!!
I couldn't put this book down...I've read most of what is out in the NDE and afterlife; and these sisters have a very fresh and down to earth way of sharing their story about their brother's death and the quest for knowledge on the afterlife. I also find it great for someone who's lost a dear one. VERY GOOD!!!!

Good Easy Reader History for Washington State Kids!
"The Pig War" was written as part of the "I Can Read" series of books for beginning readers. It tells about an event in 1859, when San Juan Island, in what is now Washington State, was claimed by both British trappers and American owners. Tensions were rising, when a British pig was shot in an American garden. The real potential for war existed following this incident. Eventually this was peacefully resolved, resulting in the establishment of the border between what is now America and Canada in that region.

Betty Baker does an excellent job of making this ultimately humorous event readable for young readers. This little book experienced a revival of interest during the Washington State Centennial in 1989. In my opinion, it's still a must-read for students in Washington.

The one drawback to this book is that the illustrations depict the local natives as Plains Indians, and not as Coast Salish. This is a minor distraction, since the story centers on the struggles between the white settlers.

Hilariously funny history
History is rarely an engrossing subject for young readers, but Baker has managed to engage them with a humorous and simple text. This story of the Pig War on the San Juan islands is a must-read for any children from Washington State.

This was my daughter's favorite book as a baby!!
I bought this book for my daughter when she was about six months old and my husband and I read it to her quite a few times daily. My daughter absolutely loved this book! I liked ready it to her and showing her the pictures. She played with this book soo much that I now need to replace it with another. Great book!!!

Inexpensive, cheerful and just the right length.
My daughter loves the sound effects in this book. The idea that Pippa helps her mother with the daily tasks is very appealing, as my daughter loves to help me. She also loves that Pippa completes a new task all by herself. My daughter is 17 months old and learned to recognize herself as "me" from this book, as Pippa recognizes herself at the end of the book. I love the bright eyes on Pippa and her mother and the decorations in the mouse-hole house.
