A Lifesaver
This is an excellent book especially for newly diagnosed kids and their parents. It was easy to read and understand. I have implemented many ideas from this book and I highly recommend it.

Sweet Indeed!
A wonderful book that took me through the hurdles when my grandson was first diagnosed. I referred to it again when researching my own book about type 1. I recommend it highly.

A "real life" guide to managing diabetes in children.
This book contains the most common sense, practical information I have found yet for helping manage my toddlers diabetes. This is not a medical text, but an easy to read guide for managing insulin, meals and the behavioral problems related to diabetes. There are excellent suggestions on how to not let the behavioral problems develop. I highly recommend this "down to earth" book

Texas Treasure by Betty Brooks
This book was great, I'm hopeing there will be another book about this family. I'm wanting to know about Blake and Velvet Johnson. Please Betty Brooks make this a series.

Couldn't put it down!
This is only the second book I have read by this author, but it certainly won't be the last. I also hope she continues the story of the family of brothers in the book along with the heroine finding her sisters. I very much enjoyed the personality of the heroine, not a clinging vine or damsel in distress that depends on someone else to save her.

An engaging heartfelt book
I have read several books by this author over the years. All I can say is that she really outdid herself on this book. I am sincerely hoping that this will be a start of a series of books about this family. This book deals with the aftermath of the Civil War and the devastation/destruction that followed. She is very detailed in her facts and interwoven in these facts is the gripping and turbulent story of two young people and their families. I read the book in day and a half. If you like this time setting then I would HIGHLY recommend this book.

Fight the Fight of Faith!
This book was so encouraging to my faith I cried during many parts of it. I was so blessed by Betty's perseverance even in severe pain and with the appearances of recurrences to the cancer. Her candid stories of how much the circumstances threatned to consume her faith--but didn't--were inspiring. We truly cannot walk by what we see, but must walk by faith! A great book for anyone who believes in divine healing. My advice: Read it now before the enemy hits!

Truly Anointed!
Unfortunately I read Dr. Betty's book after my sister was diagnosed with breast cancer. But I'm glad I did. This book is full of information for anyone who is going through treatments with cancer or his/her loved ones. I truly enjoyed the scriptures and her candid telling of her triumph through the fire and water. I praise God for Dr. Betty Price and my sister's healing. May God continue to bless the Price family.

Through the Fire and Through the Water
This is one of the best book I have read on someone's experience with cancer. What I like about the book was the medical doctor explanation of what cancer is. The author's experience was real and truthful. This book will help you not only to have faith, but also tells you what to expect. So many times cancer patient don't know what to expect or even the questions to ask. The book is well written and walks you through a step by step process.

The Tuned-In Turned-On Book About Learning Problems

All this author's work is worth reading.
I'm not dyslexic myself, but I work with people who are. Dr. Hayes' book was very helpful, and I'd recommend it to parents, teachers, and all other professionals who deal with LD children and adults.

A MUST READ for LD individuals!
Dr. Hayes manages to convey ideas and solutions for learning diabled people with warmth, sincerity and a sense of humor. She lets you understand what it is like to be learning disabled, and that it is okay to be so.

Every page is great.
This writer talks right to my son. It is just like he is standing right there. He understands the problems and he helps us understand solutions. A solution can involve humor. The writer is funny sometimes like when he lets other people experience what it is like to see words the way a LD person sees them.

Twice Born
Excellent! Betty Jean Lifton has provided a realistic look inside the mind of the adoptee. She has taken us on a journey of search, reunion and all the joys and disappointments one may find along the way. The style of this book made it easy to read. Its more like a fictional novel then a clinical study.
As a Louise Wise adoptee on the path to reunion, it was nice to see that others have come through this journey in one piece and with a deeper understanding of the human condition.

Thought provoking enough to prompt me to write my own story!
Twice Born is a wonderful and thought-provoking account of one adoptee's journey. I related on so many levels that it prompted me to write my own story.

Happiness is truly found in healing.

Kasey Hamner, Author of "Whose Child?:An Adoptee's Healing Journey from Relinquishment through Reunion and Beyond"

Excellent writing in an adoptee's view of adoption
One thing's for sure: BJ Lifton can write. This book tells it like it is, from relinquishment to long after the reunion.

Sturdy flaps!
My kids (2 & 5 yrs), really enjoy flap books, and my 2-yr-old hasn't managed to rip the flaps off this one yet! That aside, I like the book a lot, and own several of them in this series. They are cute and funny and NOT annoying at all, which is often the case with kid's books. I highly recommend it!

My Boys Learned Many Important Hanukkah Words
Our 2 1/2 year old boys taught everyone at day care about Hanukkah with help from this book. Excellent. Next year, we'll get a little deeper (no history or details in this book).

magnificent; very instructive; enthralling
hannukah at its best! after years of communism when my children didn't know what hannukah was, here comes a book that summarizes it all for my children and even myself! The most incredible thing about this book is the imagination of its creators. Well done, guys!

Alias Paine: Lewis Thornton Powell, the Mystery Man of the Lincoln Conspiracy
Published in Hardcover by McFarland & Company (September, 1993)
Author: Betty J. Ownsbey
Amazon base price: $35.00

Lewis Paine
Lewis Paine was a dashing young man in the 19th Century. Why would Booth tempt Lewis Paine into kidnapping Mr. Lincoln? I liked Lewis Paine since I was little. Now that I'm 20 yrs old now, I still dream of him. I know he's dead already. (Don't think I'm insane for this guy.) If Lewis Paine was like he was in the 1860's today, I'll freak out. My husband's name is Lewis but not Powell. I have collected several pics of Powell since I was 12 to 13. I drove my mom & dad crazy about Lewis Paine when I was 9. Hope you like my thoughts about Lewis Paine.

Love, Carmen

BEST BOOK OF ITS KIND
Without question this is the best researched study of one of John Wilkes Booth's main co-conspirators ever written.

An Outstanding Statement about the simple pleasures of Life
This book is heartwarming. It is a book of everyday living. It is humorous and touching. The author of this book really gets down to basics and looks at life in a refreshing way. This journal-type book is an easy read and will be a book that you want to read and read again. I would recommend it to anyone who feels life is just going too fast. Slow down a bit with Betty Jean Robb and take a look at small town life in Nebraska.

Heartwarming, humorous, and very real.
It's a very heartwarming book. There's something in it for everyone. It will make you laugh, cry, and, most of all, make you appreciate life. It's also a very realistic book; I should know, because I'm the author's daughter, and every word is just as she lived it! :)

For the Intellect.
This book is as much about understanding "how and why all of us have the ability to draw but can't" as it is about teaching anyone to draw. If you are an older begginer this is a must, not only it teaches you how to tap into your natural drawing ability but it tells you why you STOPPED drawing. I always understand things better when I know why it happens or doesn't happen So if you ALSO want to feed your INTELLECT as much as your artistic talent get THIS book. If you just want mindless excercises and learn to draw by practice then get "Complete Idiot's guide to drawing," (no pun intended) by Lauren Jarrett, Lisa Lenard. The Idiot's guide pretty much copies concepts and methods THIS book puts forwared but without the detailed explanation and science behind it, specially if you are young and/or don't want to read too much. The method is the same and it WORKS.

Congratulations to Dr. Betty Edwards
Since the first time I read this book in 1983, I had the wish to express my gratitude to Dr. B. Edwards, because this book made great difference in my life. Through understanding better the process of realistic drawing I have improved my self in many ways. Learning to really see is a way to grow inside as a person, in all senses. That book has marked my passage from adolescence to adulthood (I was 22 then. At the time I was attending Massachussets College of Art in Boston, and heard about this book listening "All Things Considered" at National Public Radio, rigth after I bought it at the Harvard Coop). It also opened my self to accept what we do not explain, to have faith in God. I'm artist living and working in Northeast Brazil, city of NATAL, where I have a studio. I work mostly with acrylics and watercolor, but my strongest media of expression is freehand drawing... Thanks for sharing my feelings, Love Flavio Freitas
