The one favorite book I can share with friends and family
A friend gave me a copy of this book as a holiday gift. I read the book and was in tears laughing so hard. I do love bathroom humor and this is truly the ultimate bathroom book. My friends and I sing the bathroom etiquette song parodies in Chapter #9 for karoake parties and they're absolutely hysterically funny. Many of us have kids, wives, friends and even ourselves, can be bathroom abusers, and thus can relate to the books material. I encourage anyone wanting to help others with bathroom etiquette issues or just to give a great gift, that this is the perfect gift. Every one of my friends, family and colleagues now has received a copy from me as a gift.

An "Oldie but Goodie" returns to the bookstores!
This is not one of Neels' earliest books, but it is still one of her best. A good choice for the "Reader's Choice" series! The loving couple in this book shows up again in another one of her books, "A Girl Named Rose," I believe, and it was after reading that book I went back to read this story again(I had it in its original printing). It has the traditional Dutch doctor/English nurse formula, but there were some nice plot twists that livened things up. The character development is good, and the author lets you know why the hero and the heroine appealed to each other, based on their personalities and not just surface things like physical appearance. They were likable characters and made you care about what happened to them. As always, Betty Neels provides a wholesome read. If you are looking for a romance that doesn't make you blush, look no further--try out Betty Neels!

It teaches children that the truth is always a wiser choice.
I thought this book was fun, enjoyable, and right to the point. It lets children know that once you tell one lie it leads to another and so on and so on.

The Last Shangrala: Luang Prabang
Old Luang Prabang (French transliteration from Lao is in fact Louang Phrabang) is an excellent presentation of the rituals, culture, and deep spiritualism of the Lao people. The author is not known to me, but had indeed done considerable primary research, and uncovered facts and depth that was unknown to me, even after having had a close association with Laos and Luang Prabang for over 30 years. The book is not for a novice, but for one who is interested in appreciating the culture and spiritualism of a beautiful, charming, and undiscovered Lao people. The book looks beyond Lao Buddhism, and examines the more natural and indigenous aspects of Lao traditions and social norms. An excellent read for anyone truly interested in a more meaningful experience during a visit to one of the world's last Shangrala's.

Once for All Time
Back Cover: "Clotilde Collins has worked with Dr. James Thackery at busy St. Alma's Hospital in London for three years, but she's never considered their relationship as anything more than solidly professional.
Then tragedy strikes and James steps in to take charge of Clotilde's shattered world, offering her his unhesitating comfort and support.
How easy it would be to fall in love with him.
Except he's already committed to another woman......"
This is another of Ms. Neels' highly satisfying stories about the tall handsome mature doctor and the warm, devoted competent Sister that has not any idea of his feelings for her. This time the Sister is tall and striking and dating another doctor. But the hero has been very patient and has been a quietly helpful friend. The book also has all the lovely other Neels ingredients such as lifetime servants who are family, wonderful siblings and companion pets.

Sensitive and moving account of post-partum depression.
I found this book to be a deeply moving account of a woman's experience of post-partum depression and her struggle to regain sanity and grow in her life. Its shows a different side of Berkeley and the East Bay in the 1960's than we normally think of, but probably its the reality for many more persons than the University of California experience. I found myself absorbed in the story from the beginning and had gained much insight by the end. I couldn't recommend it more.
