Having grown up near most of the restaurants I thoroughly enjoyed reading the history contained in this book. The sticky orange buns from Tick Tock are now part of Sunday brunches at home.

The Best Textbook for Hong Kong Contract Law Student!
Ms. B. Ho's Hong Kong Contract Law is really a treasure for the HK students who are studying contract law.

It's tailor-made for the Hong Kong students. All topic from the books are relevant and useful in Hong Kong who are practicing contract law.

From Offer to Acceptance, from the execution of contract to the unenforceability of the contract........you will find the most useful and quick reference of the authority in her book. I did find that her book was really helpful was I was doing contract law last year.

Ms. Ho has been an experienced lecturer on Contract Law for many years in several universities in Hong Kong. You will find that her own opinion is vivid because she is a practicing lawyer in Hong Kong.

The topic was fascinating to me and held my interest. Many interesting items for women who grew up in the Boise Valley. Now I understand a little better what my greatgrandmother and grandmother experienced when they were young women here in Idaho.

Gently entertaining but not one of Neels' best...
This isn't one of Betty Neels' most memorable books. I read it last month and had to look it over to recall the details. It was a gentle, "clean" romance with a pretty predictable plot. I am a bit biased because I much prefer her earlier English nurse/Dutch doctor romances. For those who haven't had a chance to really "experience" Betty Neels, Harlequin is coming out with a series of reprints of some of her earlier novels under "The Best of Betty Neels" series. Next month Tangled Autumn is coming out, and in the fall, The Fifth Day of Christmas will be out. These are two of my favorite classics. An Ideal Wife is a sweet little book, but doesn't have the memorable characters or plot of some of the other Neels books. Entertaining, and worth the few dollars it cost, but not one that will be on the top of my list to re-read.

This book has some of the best poems written, like "Southbound" and "Voyages". This book is a must for every person who loves southern poetry, and I recommend it for anyone who loves poetry.

Great clinical resource
This book rates up there with cup-o-noodles and double cushion socks when you are a nurse who works in the ICU or ER. This book is an excellent clinical reference that is easy to read. Drugs are listed genericly with common dose ranges, indications, reactions, iv compatibility and incompatability information. The only thing that I wish they would highlight is the elimination half life, peak and duration information which can be found in the davis iv drug book. I leave this book in my work bag and goes everwhere with me. I have owned 2 other copies of this book and update every 2 years or so. I would keep on buying this book, although the above tweak would make it perfect for me.

It Changed My Life: Writings on the Women's Movement

Exceptional collection of "Second Wave" writings
Betty Friedan was a pivotal figure in the "second wave" women's movement of the 1960s and 70s. The publication of her book, _The Feminine Mystique_ in 1963 catapulted her into international celebrity. The book was a catalyst of change. Fueled by an economic boom in which a single wage-earner could provide a satisfactory standard of living for an entire family, post World War II women had been pressured to abandon the workplace in order to bury their identities in housekeeping and motherhood.

Many middle class women felt stifled by the false feminine ideals and enforced domesticity of this era, and it was their frustration and anger to which Friedan's writing resonated. She was an educated Jewish woman with three children, a journalist, who had lived the suburban lifestyle, but who was propelled by her sense of injustice to speak to the larger world.

_It Changed My Life_ is a compilation of old and new writings, interviews, magazine articles, and recollections ten years after Friedan and a handful of other women founded the National Organization for Women (NOW) in a Washington hotel room. This book was published in 1976, at a time when the original energy of the "second wave" women's movement had been submerged in pro-lesbian, anti-family rhetoric, and the futile struggle to pass the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) had many people questioning whether feminism was dead.

Her exceptional and powerful writings prove Friedan to be an outspoken radical, a true leader of our times. She is a spokeswoman for the heterosexual woman who loves her children, but who also wants to be valued by the human race. Friedan spoke out against social and economic powerlessness for women, as well as false standards of "machismo" for men. Her goal was cooperation, not separatism.

For instance, here is Friedan's interesting definition of feminism:

"My definition of feminism is simply that women are people, in the fullest sense of the word, who must be free to move in society with all the privileges and opportunities and responsibilities that are their human and American right. This does not mean class warfare against men, nor does it mean the elimination of children, which denies our human future.

"It seems to me that _all_ the women's movement ever was, or needs to be, is a stage in the whole human rights movement - bringing another group, a majority this time, into the mainstream of human society, with all the perils and promises and human risks this involves. No more, no less. " (p. 317, paperback)

Some of the most compelling writing in this book comes from a column originally published in _McCall's_ magazine between 1970-73. "Betty Friedan's Notebook" is a readable, page-turning narrative of Friedan's travels around the globe to spread the world of the women's movement. She was a busy speaker, much in demand, a dynamic personality in the lecture hall. The accounts of the public's response to her message in places like Brazil and Italy is absolutely absorbing. And we get to see the "at home" side of Betty as well, as she integrates her experiences as a woman and mother into her public vision for change.

In conclusion, _It Changed My Life_ is an optimistic collection of journalistic writings calling for real dialogue between the sexes. Betty Friedan is a pivotal figure in the history of the Women's Movement in America, and her exceptional ideas merit consideration by anyone interested in women's issues. This book is a *must read.*

Italian So Fat, Low Fat, No Fat
I have just started making recipes from this cookbook and enjoy the good tastes and seasonings, especially the Eggplant Lasagne. I did have a problem with one recipe, Chocolate Budino, and wonder if there is a mistake and if the author, Beddy Rohde, or anyone else has a solution. The cake/pudding part of it turned out fine, but the topping never melted in the saucepan, and was very dry on top. It seemed to need more liquid than the 2 Tbsp. Amaretto. Other recipes I've tried have turned out great!

A well told tale
This novel is much above the common run of historical novels. It is written with sensitivity, a real gift of poetry in the words. I don't think much of the real protagonists which she was writing about, but Clark manages to create a moving story.
