Awareness
Published in Paperback by Zondervan (06 March, 1997)
Author: Anthony De Mello
Amazon base price: $6.99
Average review score:

a highly recommended classic
This is an excellent book. De Mello went far beyond the orthodox catholic dogma by addressing what (to me) is one of the most important practical and existential issues facing us: how does one learn to live one's life with the bittersweet delightfulness that accompanies us when we manage to be present and aware. In other words, how do we learn to become a free person. Typically, our awareness is clouded by others' expectations and by our desires to escape the perceived unpleasantness of the present moment. In order to free ourselves from the desires and escapism we need to be aware; de Mello's book is a classic (and still unsurpassed) manual that guides us into the conscious universe where we can finally heave a sigh of relief and start enjoying this great gift of life.

A reliable choice
It is a pity that at the time of writing this review there is no picture of the book available on amazon.com (you will have to take a peek at amazon.co.uk for this) nor the glook insideh option, because this book is not only wonderful to look at - the recipes are wonderful to match. From scones to lemon meringue pie, there are mouth-watering pictures of each recipe, which has clear instructions with further pictures to show key stages of the preparation process. Furthermore, all the recipes I have tried have worked perfectly. For people who are looking for a good baking book covering a broad range of traditional recipes for cakes, cookies and breads, this is an excellent choice.

Like It, Lovett, Want more of it
This book is an excellent source. Lovett traces the development of the current trends in banking and financial law, beginning with the First Bank of the U.S. The book also explains how banking law evolved with respect to the existing economic and political climate. Buy this book! There is no better synopsis of banking/financial law.

excellent source of crystal chemistry material
Professor West's magnum opus:

This book was the bible in the inorganic chemistry department of the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, where Prof. West taught during my undergraduate years.

He was/is a very likeable man, always helpful to his undergraduate and postdoctoral students, and the presentation is user-friendly and clear. The department is world-class, and again, it is hard to outdo this book for clarity and scope of inorganic/crystal chemistry.

Topics: crystal structure, crystallography, phase diagrams, electrical properties, magnetic/optical properties, etc...

One of the best military history books ever written
Excellent illustrations, descriptions and text related to 20 of the most important battles ever fought and its corresponding generals (both winners and lossers). This book takes the reader from Alexander the great to Moshe Dayan not only explaining the battles themselves but also the causes, aftermaths and interesting factors related to them. In conclusion, one of the best military history books that I have ever read (If not the best)

The author writes:
Directing prayers of intercession to the saints is a common practice among Christians around the world. By appealing to the saints for assistance, guidance, and prayer, and by joining them in praise and contemplation, we can follow the examples set by the many people of God who sought a closer relationship with the Lord. BE MINDFUL OF US is an extensive treasury of prayers addressed to the saints and blesseds from around the world, one for every day of the year. Covering the entire Christian era--with a special emphasis on the holy people canonized and beatified by Pope John Paul II--BE MINDFUL OF US not only features inspirational prayers and meditations but also provides fascinating biographical information about these 365 saints deemed worthy by the Church of emulation and veneration. This book will be an invaluable resource for anyone interested in the saints, in the history of the Church, in the many rich streams of Christian spirituality, and in the power of intercessory prayer.

Thought-Provoking Concepts That Deliver !
Astounding! What differentiates the world's top achievers from the rest of us? More importantly, how do the rest of us attain similarly lofty levels of accomplishment? In Becoming Superhuman, Michael Janke unabashedly delineates the mindset and the methods necessary to rise to the top in any profession or environment. Building from his background as an elite Navy Seal veteran, Janke neatly integrates what he terms the predators' mindset with decades of military research for attaining and delivering peak performance. Truly thought-provoking ideas that Janke effectively drills into you with both facts and reasoning. Delivered with the effectiveness of a prizefighter's punch, Becoming Superhuman makes you stop and consider things in a profoundly new way. The concepts remain with you for some time, not easily dismissed nor forgotten as is much of the motivational materials that appear today.
