I'm a better napper than the author
I was there when he was planning the book, but it still came as a surprise. I guess I napped through most of his idea stage. He's a pretty good napper, but as they say "those who can, nap; those who can't write about those who can."

Excellent for inducing napping.
As a member of a family of nappers, I thought the book was right on the money. It enabled me to get a few snoozes in while reading this. I was even able to sleep through the author's interview on CNN and not feel guilty about missing him. CA

Excellent resouce - beautiful
This is a beautiful book that include photographs of ballet performances from around the world, with pencil drawings that show, in detail, the positions in basic leotard. What I love about this book is that it covers a wide range of movements... from warming up and stretching, the basic positions, steps and movements, to pas de deux. Every line and stance is drawn perfectly - from finger tip to toe. My daughter's dance instructor borrowed the book to illustrate some of the pas de deux movements in her partnering class, and I wanted to buy a copy for her. It's a shame this book is out of print, I would highly recommend it - it's worth the search to acquire a copy!

I could not get over its beauty
I happened upon this book somewhat accidentally when I was accompaning the Southern Ballet Theatre in Orlando, Florida. Being new at accompanying, I searched for books that would help me learn the movements for class. Most of them were small and technical or very large (and expensive) with lots of photos of famous dancers. When I found "Ballet Steps" I just could not get over its beauty. It is very instructional, yet the book is an art in itself. All of the illustrations are hand-drawn and really convey the flow of movement and the elegance of the ballet. The author/illustrator based his drawings on photos of actual dancers perforing their art, usually in the class. Since he would do the drawings later at his own pace, he was able to make corrections to even the slightest imperfection so we end up with an incredibly beautiful book. The author's aim was to help the dance student or the ballet-goer to understand the language that ballet is based upon. He not only achieved this but he surpassed all of my expectations with this eye-inspiring volume.

Magnetic development of intrigue
As I read the second of Durrell's Alexandria Quartet, I first looked for another focus. (I had been so impressed with the watercolor decriptions of the first.) In the beginning of the novel, I thought Durrell had decided to be more desciptive in the area of sounds and thought he had impishly personified this goal with a focus on a strange talking parrot.

However, I was soon drawn into the story. I forget my efforts at intellectualizing and found that the characters had broadened for me. I wanted to read about what was happening to them and what had happened to them. I found myself changed from a distant observer into one who empathized with the characters. I noticed that I had been jealous of Justine in the first novel and found myself happy that she was no longer worshipped in the second novel.

Durrell's desciptions went past lush and ripe into fascinating, fermenting, and magnetic. Intrigue is introduced. Other sides of incidents are shown. I loved this book and intend to read the other two in the series.

Sometimes I get the impression that Durrell had a life time stash of pithy quotes he just had to get worked in somewhere. In this book he has an addendum titled "Consequential Data." Don't miss these. For example, "Gamblers and lovers always play to lose."

Mirrored Life
The second book of the Alexandrian Quartet mirrors all the happenings in the first, only this time from Balthazar's perspective. Beautifully written, this books gives the characters more depth than the naive and intellectual Darley first perceived. Here the complexities of love and obsession are seen in the light of curiosity, not rationalism.

An invaluable resource for security investigators
This well written book should be required reading for all those who begin a career in the field of security, and it will no doubt continue to be referred to time and again as a resource manual once training is completed.

In a clear, concise, format the authors have provided all the basic information essential to preparing individuals for a career which requires knowledge, skill and professionalism in all aspects.

Beginning immediately in chapter 1 "Case Initiation", the reader will be taken into the complex, demanding world of security investigation, and taught step-by-step the skills required. An easy to follow, easy to refer back to, outline style format will be appreciated as the book continues, covering topics such as surveillance, interviewing techniques and evidence.

Set-in boxes, charts, diagrams and sample reports, (this last undoubtedly drawn from author Celano's 20 year career with the N.Y. Police Department) are what sets this book apart from other texts on security investigations, making it a number one choice for use in the field.

Highly recommended!

An interesting and helpful view into basic security.
This book is filled with a multitude of valuable basic security, and investigation information a must for anyone in the security industry or for someone with there own security concerns.

comprehensive book with lot's of help for the daily work
A shame this book is out of stock... The book puts at your hand all the (more technical) mean to perform efficiently in your sales job. The book contains lots of tabels and worksheets which are perfect for the start. Of course - if you don't want to have any system in your work behavior then avoid this book! ;-) The book does not contain anything much about psychology, closing, arguing etc. For this I refer everybody to the topic of NLP (neuro-linguistic programming). There are even some books who make it explicitly clear what are pros of NLP to the sales person....

ITS ONE OF THE GOOD BOOKS I HAVE READ.
IT IS DEEP ROOTED IN THE SUBJECT AND I GAINED IMMENCE KNOWLEDGE FROM THIS

A beautiful and well book
I found this book to be incredibly informative and very well written. It gives the reader a simple, yet complete introduction to these beautiful creatures. I first became facinated with the Beluga whales when I saw the ones at Sea World in Orlando a few years ago. This book by Tony Martin allowed me to learn more about them. Mr. Martin has been studying the Beluga whales for over 17 years, and gives the reader a wonderful descriptive summary complete with the whales pattern of life, evolution and unique characteristics. This book is also has a collection of remarkable photographs that allow you to get a complete understanding of these animals. This is a book anyone will enjoy.

It's A Great Source
It's Great, I had to do a report and it gave me all the information I needed, I did'nt read it because I had to do this Report, It was fun to read.

The Book of Understanding
Published in Paperback by Benyamin Pr (October, 1994)
Authors: Michael Anthony and Two
Amazon base price: $19.95
Average review score:

a text-book of life for those who seek Understanding
" 'The Book of Understanding' is an encyclopedic work enabling us to ascend the Ladder of Understanding. The author carefully documents each rung of the ladder as it commences from the foundation which is: 'The fear of The Lord' all the way up to the Truth at the very summit. As he presents each rung of the ladder he calls upon the Holy Scriptures, Midrashic and other rabbinic texts, the Babylonian and Jerusalem Talmud, the Zohar, in addition to commentaries from both Christian and Jewish tradition. So much scholarship is methodically and clearly compiled so as to prove each step up the ladder, beyond the shadow of a doubt. The author systematically searches and researches the sources to painstakingly interpret each word validating each step. Wisdom, Understanding, and Knowledge, all sound so much alike but he helps us to know the nuances between them - the development and advancement from one to the other. Each rung requires meditation and contemplation for he focuses our attention on how one can live the 'good life' fulfilling the purpose for which we were created, and the goals of the Almighty. 'The Book of Understanding' is in essence a text-book of life, a major contribution for those who seek a way of life based on fundamental faith leading to Understanding." - Rabbi Joseph H. Ehrenkranz, Executive Director - The Center for Christian Jewish Understanding, Fairfield, Connecticut 06432

Remarkable!
"This remarkable book is on the concept of understanding as reflected in the Bible , the Dead Sea Scrolls, Philo Judaeus, the Talmuds, the Zohar and a very wide range of Church Fathers, Rabbinic, and ancient Egyptian, Ugaritic and Babylonian writings. There is, to my knowledge, no other work on the theme of Understanding assembled with such vast industry from an extraordinarily wide scope of ancient literatures." - Bruce M. Metzger, Ph.D.,L.H.D., Theol. Professor of New Testament Emeritus, Princeton Theological Seminary. Editor of "The Oxford Annotated Bible" and Editor in Chief of the "Revised Standard Version Bible" and "The New Revised Standard Version Bible.
