excellent, deep poetry
This book takes a look at a side of the human self that no one generally looks at. The author's deep imagery sends chills up and down the spine. It looks at human mind body and spirit with great insight. It kept me reading on and on with these humanly dark but true poems...A very good read for the avid poetry reader....

A Great Place To Start!
Anthony Aveni is well known in scholastic circles for his many excellent and ground-breaking publications in the field of archaeoastronomy. This particular volume is geared toward interested laymen and uninitiated scholars who are not yet well grounded in the history of astronomy or ideas of cosmology from an anthropological perspective. The book is graced with numerous and apt illustrations, while the text reads easily with Aveni's smooth and informative style. Chapters were clearly organized thoughtfully, as information builds upon previous explanations and new concepts or ideas are charted out for the neophytes as needed. "Ancient Astronomy" provides an ideal introduction to archaeoastronomy, ethnoastronomy, and cosmology for students in anthropology and the history of astronomy. Veteran researchers familiar with Aveni's other publications will not find anything particularly new here, but his presentation in this work nevertheless provides a concise and attractive synthesis of ideas he has published elsewhere. Highy recommended!

Beautiful coffe table book
'Ancient Captials of Thailand' describes the old important cities and captials of Southern Thailand. These include Sukothai, Ayuthaya, Kampeng and several other cities. The book is beautifully illustrated with more than 350 photographs. It also provides site maps and descriptions of the different places and the major temples and structures. Thus, it's not just a 'picture book", but I can recommend this book both for content and quality of the pictures. The book does not cover the cities of the Northern Kingdoms (e.g., Lanna), this is supposed to be the topic of another book.

Great!
What a great little ant book this is! Anthony Ant (a cute black ant "kid" wearing a day pack and sneakers) tramps all through his underground nest to deliver Birthday invites to all his buggy friends. The pages fold out as you follow Anthony through the maze. The pictures are bright and charming, with lots of visual jokes that kids can spend hours discovering. Plus, anyone with an interest in real ants will be amused by all the appropriate and accurate nature details (such as Anthony's "pet" aphid). Very, very entertaining and cute... I hope this is re-issued soon so I can send copies to all my little friends..

Child can't put it down
My 4 year old loves this book. The books greatly detailed map of the whole ant village and associated greater detailed rooms in the village provide hours of treasure hunting. Make sure you read it with ample lighting or you will strain your eyes. Will look for more by Philpot.

CANI! and 2 Great Interviews
2 of the interviews here(Coach Wooden & Stephen Covey) are the best things Robbins has ever done. The interviews come across as down-to-earth and basically off the cuff. There is humor and Robbins' admiration and respect for both these men comes across clearly and adds to the tapes benefit.

Aquinas
Published in Paperback by Oxford University Press (January, 1984)
Author: Anthony Kenny

Very readable
Kenny's text on Aquinas is informative and to the point. If you want more than a shallow introduction to Aquinas' life and thought, this is an excellent place to begin. Like other contributions in the Past Masters series, the text offers a brief biography, articulates the main philosophical concerns, offers some criticism, then reflects on the consequences or influences of the subject under study.

When an alliterated one-liner just won't do...
"Brilliant...Anthony Vidler is a conceptual conjurer of formidable skill." - J. Mordaunt Crook, New York Times Book Review

"The Architectural Uncanny presents an engaging and original series of meditations on issues and figures that are at the heart of the most pressing debates surrounding architecture today. Anthony Vidler interprets contemporary buildings and projects in light of the resurgent interest in the uncanny as a metaphor for a fundamentally "unhomely" modern condition. These essays are at once historical and theoretical, opening up the complex and difficult reltionships between politics, social thought and architectural design in an era when the reality of homelessness and the idealism of the avant-garde have never seemed so far apart."

"Anthony Vidler has proved himself among the most lucid of contemporary architectural historians, always writing with vigor and clarity, and allying perception with structure...There is wit, intelligence, and a host of shrewd observations." - Peter Blundell Jones, Architectural Review

Ardent Spring
Published in Paperback by Bantam Books (March, 1987)
Authors: Anthony Difranco and Anthony Di Franco
Amazon base price: $3.95
Used price: $4.39
Average review score:

ARDENT SPRING is a wonderful book that should be reissued !
ARDENT SPRING, by Anthony DiFranco, is both a deeply sensual love story and a beautifully researched, historically accurate war story. DiFranco, who wrote an O'Henry Award winning short story that subsequently became the recently released Showtime movie "Garden of Redemption," clearly knows about love. Readers should also look for his equally captivating book, "Streets of Paradise"--another treasure that should be reissued.
