A must for all Episcopalians and Anglicans!
The spiritual journey of George Carey, from rector to Archbishop of Canterbury. If our church survives its stodgy services and radical priests, then George Carey will deserve much of the credit. He is a spiritual giant among those who would turn this ancient tradition into an anything-goes modernism.

Cinderella's Bum
A must-read for princesses of all ages! Our entire elementary school faculty laughed until we cried. We read it just as we were all preparing for our most dreaded spring task. Not spring cleaning or even standardized testing - trying to squeeze our ever expanding "bums" into a swimsuit for the first groan of the season.

The book is written to appeal to all females. It's whimsical pictures will delight young and old alike, and the story is a true delight. Buy it for your mother, your sister, your daughter and of course, YOURSELF!

A brilliant biography of a very complex man
Loathed by some, well respected by others, Roy Cohn was known as the toughest and most brilliant lawyer in America. And indeed, his power brokering, love of glamour; controversy, and notoriety made him, in the end, one of the most influential men in our society. From his role in the Rosenbergs' trial and as chiefcounsel to Senator Joseph McCarthy during the Senate hearings through his extraordinary friendship with J. Edgar Hoover and his own vendetta against Robert Kennedy, Cohn's reputation built. But his unique practice of law and power brokering was most notorious outside the courtroom. His unprecedented track record and his sensational and shocking behavior drew the rich and the powerful to him to solve their problems. His clients ranged from media barons to members of organized crime, to the owners and clientele of Studio 54, to glittering society names-especially if they were divorcing-and a host of the mighty in business and politics. At the same time Cohn, himself the target of numerous indictments, was haunted by professional misconduct charges and finally disbarred shortly before his death. His private life was even more startling than the public one. Roy Cohn's name was constantly in gossip columns, hobnobbing with the glitterati; then there were his lovers, his denials of his homosexuality and AIDS, and finally his death from AIDS-related cancer in 1986. Nicholas von Hoffman has created a remarkable and provocative biography. interviewing family members, colleagues, clients, friends, and lovers, he gives us an extraordinary portrait of the man, his ideological passion, and the patterns of power and money that controlled his life. From the hidden bank accounts, numerous incidents of political fixing, and surprising connections, to the clients who were bilked, the judges and politicians who made his singular practice of law possible, Citizen Cohn reveals the real Roy Cohn. Nicholas von Hoffman has written for the Chicago Daily News, the Washington Post, and King Features Syndicate, and reported through the electronic media on CBS's '60 Minutes, CBS Radio, and the Byline Radio Syndicate. He has also written for almost every major magazine and is the author of nine previous books, including Organized Crinies, Make-Believe Presidents, and, with Garry Trudeau, The Fireside Watergate.

A Fabulous Single-Volume Reference on Classical Music
This is it...the book to buy if you want to learn more about classical music. Packed with more information than other collections ten times its size, this volume serves as a guide to the history of music, classical composers and their essential works. Classic FM (a legendary British Classical radio station) has producced a "classic" of its own here...a book that will become an indispensible part of your library.

Here's what you get:

1. A concise history of music, from the earliest tonal experiments to the eclectic directions of the twentieth century;

2. An alphabetical list of composers, including a short biography, brief appraisal of his/her contributions, and a list of essential works;

3. Assorted tidbits of vital information, including a glossary of music terms, a list of most popular pieces, and much more.

4. The entire book is peppered with drawings, photographs, quotes and anecdotes.

I've literally worn out my copy of this book, marking it up extensively as I used it to develop my interest and appreciation for classical music. I recommend it heartily, with two "caveats": First, the author - understandably, since he's English - tends to emphasize recent British composers over American (for example, why is George Lloyd included and Alan Hovhaness not), and second, this is not a guide to specific recordings (there are other books that exist for that purpose, but don't do nearly as good of a job with the music itself as this one does). But these are minor comments. Anyone with even the slightest liking for music will find this fascinating, and they could even find themselves embarked on a lifelong study of the classics. Enjoy!

Excellent Reference for students of Computer Science
This is by far one of the clearest most easily understandable studies of the complex topic of algorithm analysis and data structure analysis. The author, utlizing a practical approach, creates an easy to read experience, and a very enjoyable one. Overall, an excellent text, and I recommend it to anyone who has ever tried to figure out what the difference between a red-black tree and a binary search tree really was.

Let Silvaroli Help with your Reading Program
I first became acquainted with Silvaroli's "Classroom Reading Inventory" while pursuing studies at the now named Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey. My original book was the third edition. The 8th Edition is also well designed and this instrument should be easily and readily mastered by even the most novice of teachers. Identifying deficiencies in our student's reading skills through this tool allows us to provide a plan to remediate them. A must in all Teacher's Personal Libraries.

The Human Side of Lincoln
For the first time, I came to know Lincoln not as an iconified hero, but as a funny, direct, engaging and committed human being as I read this book. The author has thorough notes of very detailed research and tells a story that others omitted or overlooked. It made me want to read much more about Lincoln, especially more of the piercing wit and emotional perseverance shared in this book.

Ready for the next one......
I'm a bit biased by this book, mostly because its setting is in my hometown and I know all the streets and places where things occur. It was like reading a fantasy that was going on outside my door. It was also refreshing to see something that brought together the City of Salem (known as the Witch City) and Magick without touching upon the Salem Witches - a community I've found to be wholly too political for my tastes.

When is book two and three coming out!?!
